February 7, 201115 yr Hello everyone, I've noticed a trend recently of players complaining about scammers and bottters now that free trade is back. These people say free trade should be removed because of this. Botters - Botters have always been around and always will, it's an unfortunate reality. But taking away free trade is not the way to deal with this. Punishing everyone for a minoritiy's abuse is ridiculous I fully believe Jagex has the capibility of dealing with the majority of the botters (law suits against rwt companies for example.) Scammers - Scammers are only as successful as their targets are dumb. Take it as a life lesson, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. I've heard claims that "everyone gets scammed atleast once but that is not true. I have played for ten years and stil have not been scammed. So does anyone else agree that this whining is ridiculous?
February 7, 201115 yr Yup, everyone knew the idiots that try to scam and lure would be back but it seems like sour grapes from those that voted no to jump on the forums and say "I told you soo!!". Scamming/luring is only a problem for those that aren't capable of protecting their characters, Jagex has done more than enough over recent years to try and instil some security knowledge into their players so it isn't their fault.

And just when it was about to win another race, they said '91% of us want you turned into glue'. Let's add this all up: -We have scammers trying to steal items off people out of greed-we have botters harvesting for rwt'ers-we have rwt'ers making millions by wiping acc's who had previously supported them-jagex plans on introducing a way to buy back acc's banned after feb 2011 Is runescape doomed? Yes, very much so. The people that we need to get rid of are seemingly the ones that jagex is throwing all their support behind. Even if these people do get banned, they'll either buy back their acc's for a small price, or create 2 more in their place. Congrats 91%, the glue was just what we needed...

Also, Green Dragon bots seem to be severely reduced/gone. What's up with that? Put a smile on my face when I visited the Chaos Tunnels.

You're taking the whole thing the wrong way. We all know that freedom to trade provides much more engaging gameplay, it's a question of whether the side effects are manageable given the benefits. I think they are, and I think that given the 'yes' vote got 91%, it's reasonable to say that the majority agrees with me. - Scams are only frequent now because a) people aren't used to them and b) there's been no incentive to put in better preventative measures during the restricted trade era. One of the best ways of destroying RWTing is to sow the seeds of mistrust throughout the market.- If you buy your account back, it's not likely that you're ever going to cheat again, otherwise you wouldn't pay the money in the first place. Being able to effectively fine cheaters of their real life money, as well as potentially getting continued membership from these reformed players is a dream come true for any games company. It was an OVERWHELMING MAJORITY!!!! Face the facts people!!! 91% of 1/100th of those people eligible to vote on this issue voted in favour of free trade and the Wildy! That means that a whopping 9.1% of those people, eligible to vote on this issue, wanted this, and dammit, with THAT VAST OVERWHELMING MAJORITY they should GET exactly what they WANT and if they WANT TO CRY about it NOW, then they should damn well be allowed to cry about it!
