Well, it doesn't need to be 2k. But there needs to be a maximum somewhere and 2k seems fine to me.

The problem I seem to have is that the worlds which have the lowest ping for me are either theme worlds like castle wars or unofficial such as the living rock caverns on 84.

 

That means that I often can't get on a low ping world because its full already of people who probably aren't British or European and I have to go to a world further away. Then because noone is actually playing on an optimal world everyone just ends up complaining of lag :(

There's no reason for jagex to have more than 2k in a world. It's not like there's ever 2,000 people all trying to do the same thing. World 2 might have been close but look at the lag fest that often was.

Jagex should add +500 imaginary people too each world when calculating spawn rate, and on top of that add like 15 more worlds. :thumbup:

I wouldn't mind a boost of 500 players to the cap, not like it would change much, but it would even things out a bit. I don't want any new worlds though, that will just make the average pop. of each world drop, which I don't want because of monster spawn rates.

I suppose it's mainly due to server space. The number hasn't really changed much in the past little while, but then again, lag hasn't really improved much either, so I imagine they kept it the same because of that.
