March 16, 201115 yr To continue discussion of the update as a whole - my biggest beef with the new ring of wealth/rare drop table drops is the herbs. Why couldn't Jagex give you 100+ drops of ranarr, lantadyme, or dwarf weed, herbs that are in large supply already and much more able to handle (price-wise) changes in supply? Players supply these by the millions via combat as it is, only a small percentage are farmed. Instead, they choose to focus on the three rare, mostly farmed herbs to give as drops, potentially destroying their market (and the profitability of farming said herbs). Farming is, by a very large margin, the main source of these herbs in the market, a fact which changed greatly with yesterday's update. I would much rather they create new items (like the Vecna skull) to give players money with (it would be even better if the skull gave a +8 magic boost, better than anything currently available, giving it a serious use other than in no-pot duels which may or may not be intended) or use only items like battletaves which are not likely to be affected much by supply increases. Why (potentially) destroy farming?

March 16, 201115 yr I don't think it is great. I think WoW is a good game for those people who enjoy that sort of thing. The thing is there are *dozens* of games trying to be WoW. I'd rather not see Runescape become like that.

But toadflax? It's barely more expensive than ranarr, itself only the third most expensive "common" herb. Time will tell what the market will price the new supply of herbs (and seeds) at.

March 16, 201115 yr Basically the whole things boils down to this: Runescape is a money-based game (everything desirable is bought from skills to high level items). Ring of wealth was always a relatively cheap and useless item (but arguably up to par with other gem rings) that loads of players could create from scratch. Someone in the development team thinks that this same cheap and super easily accessible "Ring of wealth" should live up to its name and literally bring every player wearing it immense amounts of wealth. > Average joes access high level expensive goods in great amounts, sell them and ultimately make them worthless. > Having high levels is pointless as the goods you produce are worth nothing. > Having money for accessing high levels is pointless. (> Game collapses.) Seriously though... They have to find out who's hitting the crack pipe in the development team. And why the f- would a random dungeon monster carry items noted in the Bank of Runescape anyway?

Stop making a big deal, you are completely blowing it out of proportion. Nah just kidding, I just made 20m leveling slayer because I got back to back to back to back tortsol drops. It's really killing the originality and I fear runescape will follow suit.

Had they given RoW an effect while skilling (increased chances of double runes while runecrafting, for example, or making it almost like the gatherer ring in dungeoneering) I think it would've given skillers an update. When's the last update skillers had? Even if this is a game centered around combat, a very large portion of the population does not rely solely on combat for income. March 17, 201115 yr Did I miss something, or did Jagex board the fail train? Do they purposely try to ruin skills? Damn English made games. Another reason to quit. On a positive note: The graphic update looks promising for the future.

March 17, 201115 yr Um, sorry, but if I understand this thread correctly, they just killed farming... And yeah. I used to wonder why monsters carried noted items lol. Well I'm not so sure about that. Herb prices are always tied to seed prices. If herb prices go down because of the wealth update, seed prices will most likely go down to compensate. Will farming be AS profitable as it was a week ago? Likely not. Will it still be the best skilling way to profit, I'd bet on that. And that's not considering the fact that you can get abundant seed drops like 10 snaps or w/e as well. ~It's Super Effective! March 17, 201115 yr You have that backwards. Runescape attracts those kind of no-life players far more than WoW does. I've played both games a LOT, and can say that they are almost nothing alike. I have to second this statement. Playing casually I have levelled a character in WoW from 1-80 within a months time. With the new expansion I got from 80-85 (the new max level) in a little over a week. And I didn't play every day. Also I have the 2nd best pvp weapon in the game for my druid, what did it take to get it? 18 wins in the arena. Each match took on average 1 minute to complete, albeit I could only win 6 matches and than my weekly points would be capped, which is why it took 3 weeks to get the weapon. But all in all I spent 18 minutes of actual playing to get the 2nd best weapon. People who say WoW has more no-lifers need to get a clue. I've played both games and WoW is defo more friendly towards a casual gamer with regards to achievements VS time spent in game.
