The Mayans have a temple which has a giant calendar on it. The calendar is very similar to ours. It begins at a certain time on one wall and then continues onto the other (the place where it stops is thought to be important, though I can't remember why). Though its just a prediction,there is someway of suggesting that the world will end soon or near 2012.Perhaps not end,however a major change.Like-

Theres an end of the world theory (sometimes many) every year. I dont really belive any of these quacks

wikipedia cannot be trusted, although it is a site for reading articles written by others it can be changed by anyone and munipulated.

what i meant by my statement was most of the articles have been changed around so watch what you read but it was an intresting theory.

Anyone else feel (if it would actually happen) that it would be pretty cool? OK, you'd die...obviously not so cool. But after it all, when you're sitting off in heaven, hell, purgatory, reincarnation or eternal nothingness, you can think/say: "Hey, I was there when Earth was destroyed".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Imagine it coming down, day after day, for months, getting closer and closer. Yes, the feeling of foreboding doom is a bummer, but in a strange way, would it be rather tranquil? Would it be a 'beautiful disaster' as they say?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Or am I just off in a fantasy world, ignoring the probable months of looting, anarchy and chaos caused by us humans, who will have practically have destroyed the world by then...only to find out the comet missed :P

I agree with you,i myself would imagine everything to be peaceful and quiet.Except thats basically impossible to happen :? since there would be tons of people looting etc. etc. like you said.

The magnetic pole switching theory sounds the most plausible so-far, but, frankly, I prefer to sit in my dilusions of saftey. :D
