FBI Releases UFO documents

Featured Replies

It seems that the FBI has finally decided stop denying the public access to secrets it has discovered throughout its existence; or at the very least, secret documents on events which happened quite a while ago. What were talking about here is the FBIs vault project, which is a searchable database the bureau launched containing documents on figures and events such as Al Capone, Notorious B.I.G., the 9/11 hijacking, and even the mythical Roswell events.

The main purpose of the vault project is to help improve the FBIs reputation by creating a more trustworthy and transparent image; reason being is that people typically believe that the FBI has plenty of secrets that they keep out of the publics reach and are also notorious for coverups:

The new website significantly increases the number of available FBI files, enhances the speed at which the files can be accessed, and contains a robust search capability, David Hardy, chief of the FBIs Records Management Division, said in a statement. It reflects a strong commitment to build public trust and confidence through greater public access to FBI records.

The vault offers many interesting documents for people to browse, but the highly sensitive documents, or ones which are still being used in ongoing investigations are obviously still kept secret. However, the vault is very much worth looking through, and we recommend our readers visit the site explore their cache of interesting topics.

Here's a link to the FBI's Vault: Vault

This is pretty interesting, they've got stuff in there on just about anything...even Biggie's death. Use the categories on the right hand side to browse different topics, the stuff on UFOs is under "Unexplained Phenomenon".

Does this mean that conspiracy nuts can finally be proven crazy?

Either that or they were right all along :P

Also, the Guy Hottel memo seems to me the strangest, "three bodies of human shape but only 3 ft tall."

I find that a bit hard to believe.

Family guy was created by a bunch of aliens from uranus...tee hee hee.

From what they released of the Notorious Big murder, these things are very underwhelming and have a lot blacked out

Does this mean I can take off my tin foil hat now?

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it seems to me that all the Roswell documents are saying is that they investigated the matter and it doesn't say anything about confirming the claim.

Proud to have served on Tip.it Crew

Wouldn't suprise me if they are releasing this to coverup other stuff.

Am I the only one who giggled at the FBI trying to become more consumer friendly and transparent? :D

Why do you say that?

1. Can't confirm because they don't exist

2. They won't release anything that's actually important/have any significant impact, IMO this is a PR stunt basically

Why do you say that?

UFOs are srs bsnss.

Haha wtf?

These doccuments suck. Nothing that interesting.

Guantanamo Bay (GTMO) Special Inquiry In 2004, the FBI initiated a special inquiry investigation into whether Bureau personnel had witnessed any aggressive mistreatment, interrogations, or interview techniques of detainees in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba by representatives of the military, law enforcement, or the FBI. This release consists of responses to an FBI Office of General Counsel request to Bureau personnel assigned to Guantanamo Bay between September 11, 2001 and September 2004. There were no documented incidents of mistreatment involving FBI personnel.

They say the FBI personnel didn't mistreat any prisoners, but they fail to metion whether or not representatives of the military and law enforcement have mistreated prisoners. :-k

Who is to say that these released documents are the actual documents the FBI purports them to be? What I mean is, an agency as adept at secrecy and misdirection could easily produce any number of "fake" documents for sharing with the public as a smoke-screen for the real deal in a massive case of "plausible deniability". In other words, if some "conspiracy nut" comes forward with incriminating evidence against the FBI, the agency can point to Vault and say, "Nuh-uh, we declassified that right here," and there'd be no way for the average person to tell the difference without examining the real original documents in the FBI archives themselves.

Still, there's no reason to immediately say that the Vault is all fake, but at the same time, it's hard to trust any group who has shrouded themselves in so much secrecy for so long. If a family member lied to you your whole life then suddenly started to tell the truth, based on past experience, you'd wouldn't immediately start to trust them, would you?

Why do you say that?

Because the FBI is clearly a shady, far reaching organization which has the ability to control everything and they are involved in a ton of coverups and extremely complex national secrets.

Gosh, have you not seen any movies?

They haven't been released, they have been on the website forever now. They just updated their website to make it more user-friendly for ease of access to the documents.

gotta admit, these are more boring than i hoped.
