What would you pay....?

Featured Replies

...To play Runescape?

To rid RS of bots?

What would be the price of an account per month that makes the gold farmers' prices too high for most people?

Or for gold farmers to say that the cost of each account is not worth the money they make from it?

I understand that this would put a strain on normal players with multiple member accounts (or even just one), but these people are probably part of the "get rid of bots" chant.

We have discussed at length that Jagex is just after money, so why not give them enough money through legitimate players? If Jagex is a company that says their goal in terms of money is just "more" then this is a moot point. Also, I dont know the real numbers on how much gold farmers make, but there must be a cut-off limit where the price per account outweighs the amount the make from it.

If the price per month per account were to rise to a point where the gold and items gold farmers sell become too high for reasonable demand, they lose money and eventually go away. This would probably create an elite class of gold farming that affects a small segment of the RS population, but that is "acceptable" I guess.

This could be a reality, but how much would you pay to make it happen?

Bots really don't bother me that much. I'd pay quite a lot of money though to see all of the "How do we get rid of bots" and "Look what bots are doing now!" and "Hey look I found a bot!" threads go away.

This. We need to start a fund to make those threads a bannable offense.

It's extremely easy to find a method that gains 500k gp/h as a bot. If you have 1 bot running 10 hours a day that would gain you 5m a day. In 2 days you would gain 10m, and if you sell your gp at 50 cents a mill you would gain 5 dollars in 2 days. That would leave you the other 28 days to gain profit.

That was at $5 a month for RS membership.

Even at $15 a month for membership, you would have 24 days left to make money. And that is at a measly 500k gp/h, selling for under what gold goes for now.

Any higher than a $15 membership fee and nobody would actually pay for membership.

it doesnt matter, as a corporation, their goal is to mazimize profits, so no matter how much money they are making their goal is always to make more. Each year every CEO has a mandate to increase revenue or profit by more than 10% depending on market position.

For the price I'd pay it'd probably be better to find a different MMO.

Owner of a comp cape since February 11th 2012.

Remember on the growth quota though, raising cost lowers the demand. It's all about finding the point at which demand and profits per are maximum, which could mean more advertising versus higher prices.

On Topic: I'd probably pay about $10, anymore than that and it becomes inconvenient, meaning I would only bother to pay when I think I'll have alot of time to play.

I'd pay 15-20$ a month to keep every bot out of the game.

I wouldn't. Sure it's unfair and cheating, and I don't endorse that by any means. However, it doesn't personally affect me that much, so I wouldn't pay to remove them.

It's not like there would be any plausible means to remove them anyway. So paying more wouldn't affect anything.

seeing as i basically quit not much =p

If RS becomes as expensive as WoW, I'd go play that instead.

...Or maybe I wouldn't. But I'd definitely stop playing RS.

Why should I pay more for services I should be getting already.

If they kept their word, I'd still only pay $5.95.

I say this because it's tough to consider ponying up more without looking at the other competitors very seriously.

Agreed. Obviously discussions are only of value if you two think so.

Nothing, I wouldn't pay any more than I already do for jagex to stop bots. They should already be trying that with some degree of success.

Why would I want bots gone?

Why would people pay MORE to have bots gone? The only negative of bots is a black demon task, which is in the larger sense meaningless when you consider how positively they affect the economy.

Take 5 minutes out of your day and try to mine in an F2P world in the Mining Guild. Then reiterate what you've just said.

I have every right to post my opinion. No need for your sarcastic remarks just because you don't share the same point of view.

Have something you want to say about bots? Go into one of the hundreds of already existing topics that is discussing bots.

As far as bots go, other games that cost $15 a month still have bots. You will always have bots as long as membership is affordable for anyone.

You still had bots when there was no free trade. Bots are a fact of gaming life.

I'd be willing to pay 8-10$ at the most but not just to get rid if the bots though, they really don't bother me that much. It's the morons who accuse each and everyone of being a bot that I'd really like to be rid of.

This. With the lower price of membership (I'm comparing mainly to WoW. Which as far as i know is mostly, if not completely, bot free) I don't expect to see something like Blizzard's Warden, but there should be something.

I don't mine in a f2p mining guild.

Seeing as this thread is targeted towards members by its very title I don't see how that is relevant.

What do bots do to make 500k/hour? Can they really manage that at green dragons even with all of the other bots and legit people who easily steal nearly every kill?
