There's about 2+ chapters during Rand's struggle with the Dark One that showed him why his destruction would corrupt the world in a similar fashion to the Dark One's desire to stop the Wheel's progression. (And IIRC there's theories that the Dark One is the Serpent that metaphorically turns the Wheel that spins out the Pattern, what with serpents being symbolically evil, but I dunno if that's intended.) Rand ends up remaking the prison with saidin and saidar, using the True Power, amplified from Callandor and drawn from the Dark One, as a sort of insulator, which prevents the Source from his taint in this rotation. Because of Callandor's weakness, Moraine and Nynaeve took over Ishamael. Using the True Power to coat Saidin in Saidar in a Dark One-resistant power, Saidin and Saidar (pure, not split in the Five Powers) keep the Bore shut. The Dark One is unable to influence the Pattern as he was with the imperfect seal, though his influence is still present in the ability for mankind to choose him and do evil.[/hide] Also did the new quest, and the armour is nice, I keepsaked it over Vanguard. Mostly because Vanguard makes women look super thin, and this armour looks more, well, armour-y.
