Some places have really good Tsao's and egg rolls, but proportionally the vast majority of Chinese restaurants I've come across (at least in my area) serve flavorless crusty rations. I figure I'll have an easier time being pro-Mexican.

Oh yeah. Now that you mention it, I've never complained about eating Chinese in PA. Yet another reason to hate peninsula living.

Lesson learned: Risky Mexican is better than average Chinese.

Hah. Yikes. I went to a mexican place, forgot what I got, because I got my friend to get up and leave. We didn't eat, we didn't pay.

 

 

There was a clump of snot on the side of her enchilada, and these weird taco things I got were sitting in a pile of taco grease.

 

 

And we were nice to them too. :|

At first I was pretty sure the last one I've been to had their menu in sepia. Then after being served, I found out I was wrong. :uhh:

How do you guys get into cooking?

 

It's not difficult. Not all fruits and vegetables have arms and legs and do dances, you know. Otherwise it would be impossible to cut them without hurting their feelings.

Dipping bread in spaghetti sauce is pretty cool.

Christmas barbecue!

 

At least that's what I'm going to be doing when I celebrate Christmas on my own/with my own family. A secular Christmas with hamburgers, hot dogs, kabassi, barbecue chicken, ribs, steaks, pulled pork, shish kebab, corn on the cob, pasta salad, and the obligatory baked beans. And don't forget the red wine. Christmas Eve will be the traditional turkey and stuffing dinner. No ham.

Hmm, I think I want surf 'n' turf for Christmas. Steak and Lobster. BBQ's in the cold is uncool though

Christmas BBQ = backwards

Christmas Turkey = sideways

 

Traditionally I believe it's supposed to be Christmas ham. I'm not sure what I'll be having this year, but hopefully it will be both seasonally appropriate and warm.

 

Also, eggnog. Massive candy canes. Hot chocolate.

Oysters are actually a commonly eaten item to celebrate the holidays, if lobster is too much for you. Also dungeness crab right now is in stores a lot at this time, so there's that too.

I have discovered the third coming of the Messiah in the bottom of a square cake pan that normally contains home-made cornbread. It appears to be a lemon bar of some sort. I would post pics, but I would have to take them on my phone and then email them and stuff.

 

Right now I am eating plain pasta with romano cheese. There were also asiago and parmesan cheeses in the fridge, as well as tomato sauce. For anyone who knows what I'm talking about, which is the best cheese to have on pasta? I chose romano in this instance because it is not as strong as asiago, but has more kick than parmesan.

I want some Thai food really badly right now.

This is my favorit dish ever! It's fun to make and DELICIOUS :) I had it when I was in Italy at this restaraunt in Rome, and I still haven't found/made anything that even compares to it... But I'll keep trying

The trick is to get the sauce just right - many restaurants end up undercooking it or curdling it. With a bit of parmesan it's fantastic.

Parmesan? Reggiano is where its at :razz: Even though it's just a better tasting parmesan.

I thought they were the same thing.
