February 1, 200620 yr Well I decided I was gonna start merchenting again so I thought that obby capes would be a good idea. I posted in the official forums and immediatly someone wanted to sell. He offers me 3 for 700k so I thought this was a good deal and went to meet him in edgeville. He was waiting just inside the wilderness so I thought it looked a bit fishy but since he was level 95 and im level 91 I decided he couldn't harm me at all. So we did the trade, got to the 2nd screen waited for a bit and then he decline and before I know it I'm froozen frantically clicking out of the wilderness, needless to say I die loosing 700k. Well how can this happen, it was clearly level 1 wilderness and we had a 4 level gap between us so I don't know how it could have happened. Any idea? Also since all I had was 700k cash all I have now is a very angry face lol. put him in jail Then i'll just wait for him to drop the e-soap
February 1, 200620 yr :? Its best not to trust ppl, even if it seems only a bit fishy, dont go for it. Thats how scammers are sucessful.
February 1, 200620 yr I hate looking thru a sextant with people around... let alone bringing up a trade with someone you don't know in the wild. Most likely his friend came up and maged you while the trade was up... probably looked up your stats before meeting you.
February 1, 200620 yr Just don't go to wildy. No matter if their level isn't right lol why would they want to trade there? The Runescape Wilderness - Meili's Blog
February 1, 200620 yr Maybe he had another mate standing next to a tree or so so you can't see him from a distance. Next time don't go into wild with cash :(
February 1, 200620 yr This is the lastest tactic used by people to get your gp...well...not so new but heavily in use right now. Do not do any trades unless in a bank or other safe area. Period. Something looks fishy...don't fish there.
February 1, 200620 yr Yeah, a guy has gained 10 santas and 2 partyhats from it. I'd say his name but thats besides the point. Bad luck, you shouldve told him to go to the bank. De_Pk - Level 117 - Banned September 30th '06.
February 1, 200620 yr Why would he trade in wildy, just ask him to walk out of wild. If he doesnt, its clearly a trap 2000+ total99 attack - str - def - hp - range - mage - prayer - cooking87 con
February 1, 200620 yr but the funny thing is, its not even a scam. he never said he wouldnt attack you or anything, he never lied to you. its still very very very EXTREMELY stupid of you to fall for that though.
February 1, 200620 yr nvr trade in the wildy simple answer: this guy has friends or other accounts, while he was trading u his friend/account of correct lvl gets there then he declines and launches the attack Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
February 1, 200620 yr This is why all main trades are done in a bank or in Fally Park (World 2). Why people keep thinking that the wilderness is a place to conduct business is really beyond me. Not gonna be rude and call you stupid or anything like these other morons... but really... how silly/foolish can ya get? Especially when there was a bank not that far away. It was obvious that you were set up. It could've probably been avoided too, even after you were attacked. BUt for some reason... I think you might have panicked and just kept clicking when what you should have done was use the prayer "protect from magic"... if you could use it. You just learned a very valuable lesson though. February 1, 200620 yr Author Yeah I realised I should have been carefull because of the wildy. Oh well whats done is done. Next time I'm trading I'm gonna be much more careful. That's the 2nd time I've been scammed. Never again I hope lol. put him in jail Then i'll just wait for him to drop the e-soap
February 1, 200620 yr Someone tried that on me too except i had like 6 mill on me and i was smart enough not to go in wildy.. plus i saw a 99 in ancients up on a ridge so i knew it was a trap. This is not against the rules amazingly its just called luring
February 1, 200620 yr he obviously had a friend attack while you were in trade. but umm... your own fault for taking 700k gp to the wild... should've made him come out. Proud to have gotten 1800 skill total before access to fishing guild Why make a house when you can rob one?

That's the 2nd time I've been scammed. Never again I hope lol. And thats basically how you have to go about it. Just learn from your mistakes and move on from it. Could've been a lot worse. February 1, 200620 yr its a new type of lure - someone will look at forums at people buying/selling stutff. If they find someone their level or their freinds levels they will say something like meet them at monks or oziach. So when you go through wild to get their a pker will be waiting to kill you for your cash or whatever your selling.
February 1, 200620 yr My friend got his mate to help him lure this guy with 10 santas to qwild. He Ice Blitzed him til he died. He dropped 6 Santas. I saw them in trade. Luring ftw? Just ask them to come 7 squares south, it's not that hard is it
