Don't really care much about it anymore. I used to, pay fortunes for all these kinky colourd shirts and so. But now I just wear a baggy jeans or someting else that's casual, or sweatpants. And when I need to work or do normal stuff I just wear a plain white t-shirt. When I go out I put on a 'fancy' shirt with a nice colour and some print made by a way too rich designer.

I usually wear whatever I feel comfortable in and like, it just so happens that I like to wear collared shirts (Polo, American Eagle, Aeropostale, or any quality off brand). Other times I'll just wear a T-shirt, maybe Quiksilver or any other similar brands. For the most part name brands, but I don't care about wearing off brands and I most certainly won't pay a ton of money for name brand stuff, I'll get it if it's cheap. Sometimes I'll wear plain white cotton shirts. Thats the cool thing about not really caring about pleasing others with my clothing. I can wear whatever I want.

Try hard as you might, I think it might be a tad hard to label me as something, and that's what I like. I don't like the style of the people who try to be different and all end up acting the same by joining the same "outcast" crowd. I also absolutely refuse to wear any "prep" brands like A&F, Hollister, American Eagle, or Aeropostale, because everyone I know who wears those clothes is an as$hole who purports that they are superior to everybody else because they coerce their parents into spending $80 on a pair of pre-ripped jeans. The price aside, if you pay to buy clothes with "character" because you don't possess any, then you've stopped to quite a low level.

These are also the same people that flaunt the iPods that their parents bought them for Christmas in very unfriendly ways, either by strapping them to some part of their body and dancing in their seat or as they walk, or buy asking a person to see what they're listening to when they have a CD player and then saying something like "oops, that's right, YOU DON'T HAVE AN IPOD!" They do similar things with their cell phones as well. The one thread that all these people have in common is not the fact that they identify with the supposed upper-class and dress so, but the fact that they place great pride and value in their possessions and artificialized accomplishments, and that's why I don't like them. If you took away all my clothes and replaced them with cheap equivalent no-names, I'd be content. If you defaced my MP3 player or cell phone (both of which I worked and paid for with MY money) to the point of supposed ugliness but still within acceptable parameters of operation, I wouldn't care, so long as I could still crank out my tunes. If you took away my talent, intelligence, charisma and quirky mannerisms, I wouldn't be too happy. And what separates these people is that they'd trade their talent, quirky manerisms, and all other manners of nonconformity for more designer labels, makeup, overpriced gadgets and financial status.

As for the gangstas and chavs, I don't want to be a wigger or identify with those people, because some of them in my area are very prone to crime, and I have clean cred I gots to protect.

Wow, I'm going to come off sounding like an impoverished old fogey here. I haven't spent much money on clothes in a long time. When I do, it tends to be at Wal-Mart or at clearance sales I happen to cross-- last one was at Old Navy.

I do have some clothes I'd never be without:

my Doc Martens (bought them for work when I was still in school)

my Leathermen biker jacket

my leather pants

my flannel shirts

my Eddie Bauer rugby jersey

my Yakimaniac T-shirt (it's hard to find... not sure if the guy is still selling them)

my walking shoes (they'll probably wear out soon)

...and I guess that's about it. I don't mind cultivating an image, but it's just not going to be brand-related or particularly trendy. Although I know the trend-setters/chasers embrace street fashion now and then, I do find the current fashion of pre-ripped holes in jeans amusing since it's not too far off from the street style that spawned stonewashed and acid-washed jeans in the '80s.

Sonetti, Firetrap, Diesel, Duck and Cover, French Connection, Lambretta

I wouldn't buy a piece of clothing because of the brand but the above seem to be recurring names in what i wear. I just like the designers i guess.

In a little hilltop village they gambled for my clothes

I bargained for salvation and they gave me a lethal dose

I offered up my innocence, I got repaid with scorn

"Come in'', she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm"

This week, the morning newspaper here in Sweden has been publishing a a picture and an interview of a random passing person each day about the clothes that they are wearing in the picture. The most scary thing is that the average cost of a piece of clothing that normal people wear is like $60+. Seriously, it's scary that people go around in jeans+shirt+shoes that cost like $500 total.

Wow. Next time I'm in Sweden, I think I'll try hiding in a dark alley and mugging people passing by.

"Gimme your shoes!!!"

"Umm...What did you say?"

"You heard me! Gimme your shoes!"

"My shoes won't fit you though...Why do you need them?"

"Umm..."

"Here, how about you can have a nice shiny quarter (or whatever the Swedish equivalent is). Now run along and buy yourself a gumball."

"SWEET!"

Half of the shirts I wear are the ones I get for free for all these events I go to. *starts to look through dresser* Here's one from National Day of Doing Good, and then the Winter Carnival, and ooh here's an Arbor Day one!

I used to wear all these "ghetto" clothes like Ecko, Mecca, Enyce, School of Hard Knocks, Marithe Francois Girbaud, etc, but I'm trying to phase that out now.

I'm slowing moving into another group of conformity with Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, Le Tigre, Calvin Klein, and all those other polo and button-down shirt makers...

Hey man, I've got a pink polo, I think they're pretty cool. I suppose I spend a fair bit on clothes, but that's just cos most of the stuff I like is expensive.

I don't think i own any brand name clothes. The only ones i can think of are my snowboarding coat (Burton), and a couple of t shirts (porn star). Most of the stuff i wear is just random jeans or t shirts that i like, i don't go out of my way to buy stuff with a label.

Shoes are the exception though, i usually get Vans or DC's because i find them comfortable and hard-wearing.

Kirk and Lars I could handle. At the same time.

I'm not really sure what "chav" means as it's slang I'm not familar with, but you're right on the pink polo part. I try to not wear it too often though... Maybe only once every two months. People either love it or hate it.
