ever had a friend that put u down?

Okay, I have two stories to tell about this topic...

First: When I first started playing RS, I met this person who randomly traded me and gave me 1K. I didn't think much of it, since i just started out...I even thought it was like manditory that all higher levels give 1K to noobs  I told my friend and he said, "Dude, no one just hands out 1k, it was probly just 100 gp..." Talk about supportive friends...

Second: I know this one is dumb, but still, can we not dream of better friends? Well, it started out when I was mining non-stop one night, and I met this high level girl whom I be-friended. At the end of the night, she told me to talk to her boyfriend (Mike909, probably a made up character) and he would make me full rune. I freaked out....But, when I told my friend, he says, "Yeah, right, no one will give you full rune for free....gosh.." and now that I am level 82 and he is level 56 (he started months before me) I am able to laugh in his face  Good times...Good times...You guys got any more stories like this?

Some kid (lvl 32, I think, age 11) just the other day, when I was on my warrior noob... said he could kill me easy in wild. I got a kick out of it. Then I told him my noob mage could kill him just as easy, and my main could kill him even easier.

Had him following me around for a good 10 to 20 minutes, trying to guess my age and trying to get me to tell him my account names.

I got a pretty good kick out of it. Even some other guy decided to follow him and join in by guessing my age.

...His attention span was terrible too. lol

I've been scammed by my friends from the day I came to lumby.

Started out with a full bronze set at 10k (which I worked hard for mining coal)

After countless item scams they moved into hacking me by visiting my house and inserting a keylogger while I was preparing some food... Talk about friends

Only lost 10m, but hey... when your best friends start stealing from you, you don't exactly trust them anymore :!:

When I was on my noob (I Break Wind) over Christmas break it was pretty amusing to see how much people around level 10 trash talk and act like they're gods of Runescape compared to level 3s.

No matter what level you are, you'll always find people that try to tell you things CAN'T happen that DO happen, and will always try to belittle anything joyful you come across... you just gotta ignore those people (or rub it in their face -- negative people hate that :P)

no offence, but u seem like the kind of person, who cant take getting some S*** every now and then.

Lol, ur friends arnt even putting you down, they are just not beleiving you. Now on rs, i never say stuff, like what i say to my rl friends, cuz i know most ppl could get offended, but irl, i'm always flipping [cabbage] to my friends, because i know they can take it

You have absolutely no idea...I can take WAY more than you think I can. I've been putting up with this my entire life...these people I am talking about are my RL friends...they put me down tons of times, I just wanted to know if this happens to everyone, or just me...they can't take it, they are bi-polar and CANNOT take even the slightest crack. They keep reading between lines where there is nothing there to be read.

Oh boy... do I ever have a story for you!

This isn't exactly about a friend putting me down; it is about my IRL friend that kept lying to me about aspects of the game after he introduced me to it, by telling rediculously tall tales. Being a noob, I actually believed him on every single one of them

Some examples: he told me that he went to level 99 wilderness and found himself owned by several KBDs. Being a curious fellow, I checked it out for myself. I WAS a member at the time. So I proceeded to the end of the wilderness... at level 65 (or 56, whichever). He told me that there were stronger monster along the way... there weren't very many strong monsters at all, just scorpions. I was really mad, and I doubted this "King Black Dragon" even existed. I later found out that he did, but there was only one of them.

Another he told me was how he managed to kill a dragon... with means that are completely unrealistic. He said he shot arrows into the dragon, adn then lit them with a tinderbox and caught the dragon ablaze. Talk about bad liars? I later tried ranging myself, and all that happened was little green asterisks came out of me and did damage (back in RSC).

And one when RS2 first came out... he told me he explored the KBD lair. He told me some PRETTY tall tales about that. He said that he and group of 40+ people went into the lair and there were lots of black dragons at the enterance of the cavern, and there was a locked gate blocking the enterance to the KBD's lair. Near the gate were Black Dragon Tyrants, which were much stronger than normal black dragons. They drop the key to the gate. Then he said that they went in and all got owned by the KBD because he was ludicrously strong. He said he was level 500... OMG.

And the biggest, ginomours whopper he ever told me was about how a group of adventurers slew Zamorak himself. I don't remember how exactly it went, but he said Zamorak looked kind of like a lion with red glowing eyes standing upright, and he casted spells like iban blast, fire wave, and flames of Zamorak. He said that everyone there died but one person, and that Zamorak dropped a D2H and zamorak fur... lol

And that sad part is that I believed all of these rediculous fictions. I guess it wasn't my fault because I had little to no knowledge of the game at the time (except for the time when RS2 came out). Now that I know all of these stories (and many others he told me...) were all lies I don't give him as much respect now, because he told these tales to impress me. Now he is still around level 50, and he just recently got his first set of full rune, and I'm level 91 and have full torags + whip.

Ok, that was a bit long of a story, but I've always wanted to tell someone about that... so... has your friend told you some whacky stories lately?

The whole point of having friends is to enjoy their company while being good enough for them to enjoy you... if they lie/scam/cheat/keylog/betray or otherwise do negative things to you you should probably drop them since they are not only no longer serving their "purpose" they are doing quite the opposite. I mean, if your toothbrush started to rot your teeth out would you continue to use it? People are worth the benefit of the doubt but not worth the proof.

I have one friend whom I think is condescending, hes level 119 and I'm 92 (I was higher before I quit) everytime I try to ask him a question he'll say Yes. No. or Maybe. One whom I thought was my friend for a couple of months took the first chance he got and hacked my account taking party hats, easter eggs, a pumpkin, money, armour, weapons, etc. This was over a year ago.

I've never had any problems with RL friends in RS. I think most high schoolers (at least so called honor students) are mature enough to be able to put aside a game for more important matters.

Members is actually quite good in terms of the community in comparison to other online games and free. The average age in RS members is at least 14 or 15, so while there are still plenty of idiots, most people have at least some capacity to reason. Walking around on free with a low level really makes me appreciate members.

People who take advantage of you, steel or lie obviously are not friends.

I for one treat friends in rs as I do rl friends, and while I expect some respect I do hold myself to a higher standard and do not require the same favor...

I'm not a materialistic person but view most the items in rs more as tools... value is in it's use to me. I've no problem giving things away I don't want or use to friends who need and many of my closer friends think I'm too nice sometimes. I've no problem helping people out as long as I also get time to get some things on my own agenda done...
