TH promo for the weekend:

Dragon trinkets are this weekend's new arrival on Treasure Hunter. Bear these magical artefacts and become a fire-breather's bane!

From 00:00 UTC (game time) on 15th May until 23:59 UTC on 18th May, log on and you'll receive 75 free dragon trinkets*. Give them a go, and pick up more on Treasure Hunter.

These stackable items sit in your necklace slot or inventory and have a range of functions, which are useful while fighting chromatic dragons**. They can:

  • Pick up and note dragon bones and hides.
  • Give Slayer XP on kills – no Slayer assignment necessary, but stacks with any assignment you do have.
  • Draconic deathblows - 5% chance per hit to instantly kill dragons above 80% life points, with an awesome new animation. This works on any chromatic dragon, except the KBD and QBD.
  • Teleport to dragon locations.
  • The first three of the above activate automatically, whenever applicable. The teleports are activated by right-clicking your trinkets.
All of the above functions consume trinkets:
  • Each item type (bones or hides) picked up and noted per kill consumes 1 trinket. So 1 for each baby dragon, and 2 for each adult – including brutal green dragons and the KBD. This does not apply for the QBD.
  • Each baby dragon killed with a deathblow consumes 1, and each adult 2. The KBD and QBD cannot be instantly killed with trinkets.
  • The additional Slayer XP consumes 1 per dragon, with the exception of brutal greens (3), the KBD (10) and the QBD (15). Slayer XP given is relative to the power of the dragon killed.
  • All teleports consume 5 trinkets.
This weekend's your best chance to load up on dragon trinkets – open those chests, and tool up for your next dragon slaying adventure!

*Not available on Ironman accounts.
**That's green, blue, red and black dragons – both baby and adult – as well as the King Black Dragon and Queen Black Dragon.

It all depends on how much Slayer xp per kill, I suppose. And I'm sure the dragon bots will make use of them <_<.

So attempting to teleport to dragons on an F2P world will give a cool but harmless little "glitch" of your player doing the teleport emote and then being sent straight back down. Ascension rejected!

So Thalers are 1 per 5 minutes normally and 1 per minute during spotlight.

Guess its gonna be chasing spotlight all the way for efficiency.

Good look at some prices though:

120 Granite Body

150 Fighter Torso

150 Penance Skirt

40 Runner Boots

60 Penance Gloves

3355 Detailed Armour Set

7475 Profound Helm

12650 Profound Body

9200 Profound Legs

9200 Profound Shield

9200 Profound Sword

240 Void helms

300 Void robes

175 void gloves

175 deflector

400 jessikas sword

145 sacred clay helm

180 Seers, Archer, Warrior and Zerker imbued.

'Limited edition' was all the skill outfits at 360 a piece.

So 795 Hours of spotlighted Thaler gameplay for full profound which is exactly the same as time taken to get it via cwars assuming 100% win rate. So Thalers deffo should save some time overall since they aren't bound to winning. A lot of the other rewards that they aren't playing the OMG DONT RUIN TRIM game with seems a bit over priced though - I mean 5 hours for 1 void robe piece? It's possible to get full superior elite void body legs gloves and 3 helms in around 20 hours.

Ugh so 6 hours a piece of spotlight to get the th sets.

So 6 hours for a 1% bonus...meaning it would work out to what, 600 hours of said skill to make up that time, if you throw away minigame benefits? It's a nice niche or something to do I suppose, but I feel like it's setting the bar a little high.

What are the prices for Hybrid minigame pieces?

I was surprised they were being included but didn't see them in this video

I think they were 750 a piece from the livestream video... that is 12.5 hours per piece.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one bringing this up thus far... But 'Thalers?' Couldn't they have picked a more interesting currency name? They could have made a pun calling them cubits because of how much effort it would take to get some of the crap therein.

I think they probably chose Thaler as it was an irl silver coin currency used across most of europe for around 4 centuries - so it fits with the rough time period and thematic location associated with medieval-ish fantasy setups and is perfectly thematic match with the notion of multiple separate entities using a common currency.

I really am bummed on the prices the more I think about them, profound makes sense as it is balanced against existing time taken but removes the win:lose element to it. But the rest just seem so costly that your better off getting them from their own mini-game directly or, for the skill outfits, are so overpriced they become inefficient to use. It's kind of perfectly setup to not work in its aim to get minigames played as its only real big boon is for trim hunters and that will just mean that cwars dies when unspotlighted.

Profound is great, no longer have to fiddle with boosting chats or whatever and you can earn it at maximum rate. The rest are iffy but to be fair you're earning them alongside whatever you're doing - for instance, getting agility bxp and void items together. The direct methods are still the best if you want to hunt down one specific item as soon as possible, but if you're in no rush to get something you can passively earn it while playing the spotlighted minigames.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

What I'd like to know is..

Assuming barbarian assault is spotlighted, and there is no end to the game if you keep a healer or runner alive, then wouldn't it be possible to get 5 people to just do wave1 minus healer/runner and afk there for hours?

Seems like the kind of obvious abuse factor Jagex would miss, though I wouldn't suggest trying out after all knowingly bug abusing is a bannable offence and Jagex could quite easily decide it is a bug rather than an oversight.

Considering you do the same thing in CW (idle time) as you would be in BA, it doesn't look to be an issue.

What other minigames are being added? Trouble brewing? Can AFK in that too

Well in videos they have said 14 games in the spotlight rotation and named cwars, ba and trouble brewing.

Based on the rewards you can buy I'd say 4-9 are:

MA (imbued rings),

Fight Pits (hybrid gear)

Soulwars (hybrid gear)

FoG (hybrid gear),

Pest Control/Conquest (I imagine these will be treated as 1 & void robes)

Stealing Creation (the armour piece)

Then 10-14 I'd take a guess at:

Heist

Cabbage Face Punch

Great Orb Project

Flash Powder Factory

Fishing Trawler

That way you've got all the supposed to be multiplayer minigames covered.

Also @ idling thing the thing to be careful of in terms of it being branded a bug is the other games like cwars are time limited, BA is not which is where the difference lies. Idling through a cwars game is douchey to your team but not abusing stuff; intentionally not finishing an un-time limited BA wave to idle indefinitely would be abusing the system.
