A sad statement about RuneScape

I'm part of the 3% that actually wants a different/fun experience. Its not like I have the luck to even bother trying to kill something repeatedly to get a good drop. To me, killing high level monsters should be fun. I don't need the money, I just want a good time. I guess wealth is a better motivator to kill something than how fun it is. :?

Of course everyone is going to vote the first one, no one kills 6k+ dust devils for fun

This topic is pointless. Heck, you might as well change it to another pointless "Rs community sucks!1!!" topic.

ok experience of killing high lvl monsters aren't worth the expenses. few monsters requires team but it's always fun. fighting in genreal is just one of the game aspects. that pretty much leaves just drops.

the poll does not reflect that people are materialistic. simply answesr aren't set in a good way. most people come there to have fun AND try to get good reward. could u vpte for 2 choises? no

i don't care much about money and i go to kdb with friends to have fun, maybe get drop, but thats unlikely :)

also with drops they put fire cape that isn't tradable

i blame answers for this vote setup

1500+ total 89 cmb; 1600+ total and under 93 cmb.

02/04/07 reached all skills 60+ under lvl 90 cmb.

07/19/07 reached all skills 70+ at lvl 93 cmb.

that is kinda sad............wait we're n ot talking about the 40k+ people who pay to play rs r we? ....for real it is kinda sad people want the items THAT much

Its not that certain people want it alot, its just alot of people want the item.

i clicked that, but not because i have a chance of getting an item so i can sell it for alot of money (not that i'd complain if that did happen 8) ), i clicked it cause it said FIRE CAPE... and you can't sell that, but i'd be satisfying to have one... not that i'd know :(

The fact of getting a drop from a hard monster is so satisfying, is that wrong? If i was still a member I would vote for the first option as well. Working with other people and the challenging experience is nice as well but getting the drop is better. Materialism- yes. But..oh well=)

I'm sad to see the results too. I chose between the "challenge in killing" and "team fun".

Allthough they didn't make it so clear, I bet by "high level monster" Jagex meant a cmbt 200+ monster with many different attacks and team killing possibilities. So Dust devils and Fire giants wouldn't count, because they're so easy to kill and are thus a whole different thing.

I have taken part in many trips to high level monsters and I wasn't there for the drops.

Well who wants to kill 5k+ dusties for fun or challenge?

Or come to that lvl 702 monster for a just a challenge...

But i voted for second option as i saw how many voted for 1st..

I'd hardly consider myself materialistic, and the only reason I'd fight high level monsters would be for the items.

Those monsters take a lot of time and materials to fight, considering the little xp you get (in comparison to fighting things you can hit more easily), the difficulty of the fight, and the extra resources you consume. If it wasn't for the rare drops, why would anybody fight them? Nobody's going to choose to lose gp (on a large scale) in expenses fighting a high level monster when they can make money fighting low level monster.

Killing it once for the sake of saying you killed it is one thing... but very very few would go if there wasn't the chance that their efforts would at least pay for their expenses.

Look at the KBD... as far as i know you're lucky to get a d med or left half off him at best. He's never got people fighting him any more because people can get more valuable drops and use the same amount of resources at something else.

Well, how odd a poll, I might add.

Really, of course most people will choose the first option. Especially as most people think this game is a click fest, and fail to indulge the story. Saying to someone "I slew a mighty blue dragon in the hopes of claiming it's coveted hide to make into strong armour" earns the response of "noob" or "moron". saying "Pmg I pwned those blue drags with my 1337 bow and rune arrows to get hides to make armour and sell to noobs" doesn't have the same ring to it, but is more readily accepted.

Really, I can see the MAIN reason to lay the smackdown on something for the drops, but patially for the exp. But, I can exp from any of a number of monsters whithin level X and level Y, so naturally, I pick the one going to make me some money...

Besides, how does people killing monsters for drops hurt you in anyway? They want what the monster drops, good for them. It's a game, so they do what they want without breaking rules.

Your bold claims about them being materialistic is a load of hogwash, the game is driven by items. Really...

Raichase, quit Runescape.

Time issues really, nothing against the game itself. Something had to go, and it happened to be the addictive game that costs money to enjoy :)

Best of luck to all of my friends here!

===========================

the drops are starting to detract from skills, smithing is practically dead at high levels due to the fact that rune is pretty obsolete now, and the only way to get the better armour is through drops. given this why would people bother raising smithing other than for the presitige? skills are what keeps this game afloat, if the game gets to the point where skill are useless and the game effectively becomes combat only then RS is going to die as the combat system is mind numbingly basic and everyone will just go to guild wars WoW etc

i saw that and thought the same thing

i voted team killing with freinds :)

Ditto.

Still, it's not like my opinion mattered in that poll. In fact, I really shouldn't have responded at all, but I did it as a "what if" sort of thing.

Yeah. Me and my level 61 ownage are gonna seriously take on a monster that requires teaming.
