Buying and selling sigs risky, or even illegalized?

Featured Replies

[...] Secondly we cannot see the half of the transaction which occurs outside the game, and if players swap items for external benefits we can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t see, to us it looks like an unbalanced suspicious trade. [...]

Probably been posted a few times already.

I was thinking that, but I'm almost sure that tip.it would check it was legal with Jagex before allowing it.

there's a fine line between a real world trade and game-related services. I have heard before that Jagex is ok with people buying sigs, but I don't know if I ever saw that officially, so don't quote me on that.

it'd be like banning me if somebody gave me gp for working on crew... I never gave them an item in real life, just provided a game-related service (and no, I have not been given RS items or gp for working on the site... nor desire it).

But they don't know if you're buying a sig or not, they might think you're buying rs money for rl money when you're recieving free stuff like that. Read the quote again and maybe you'll see my point.

i saw your point... and i've already posted in other threads that people are being too bloody paranoid about wrongful bans...

JaGeX has actually messaged us about that service once..

Basic conclusion: They won't ban people for it.

Yes, if you dig around the media forum you will find a few screenshots of Jagex CS verifying the selling of sigs and avatars.

Curse you Nomad!

Theres also some about it being against the rules.

Mods are always saying its legal and illegal, depending on which staff member answers the querie.

:^_^: I drew that smilie, btw, along with a few more used by this site.

Classic bloodveld for lyph3! Although I do like the new ones.

What I was gonna say. I've seen screenies of them saying it's ok, and then when I actually asked them they said it wasn't. I looked at the mod names, and of course, they were different people.

Just like Columbus he gets murderous on purpose

Just like some mods saying Ss is alright and some others saying it is illegal. So if ss is not allowed on these forums, why should the sale of sigs be?

if i recall correctly mod mark said its fine by them, but they do not take responsibility

threads like these pop up all the time

SS is illegal because it is a third-party client which bypasses all the adverts-- these are against the Jagex rules, and therefore against the tip.it forum rules.

Sig selling is fine; Jagex has said that it is against their rules, but they will not ban people for doing so (contridiction, anyone?). The mods and admins have decided to allow sig/avatar selling here at tip.it :)

Teaching and inspiring.

I've read somewhere that it's legal... forget where though.

Can I trade Forum signatures?

Forum Signatures are not allowed to be traded for RuneScape items. This breaks Rule 12 and may result in an account being banned.

From the Code of Conduct. You can check for yourself by going to the RuneScape forums and clicking on Code of Conduct at the top.

That is talking about the game. The actual Java Applet. The creator of ... that program does not edit the RS Client. I don't use ... you know what client and actually don't like it, but it isn't illegal. Its just a browser with 'plugins'. If similiar plug-ins for Firefox existed, would be using Firefox illegal? No. Same goes for IE, opera, etc. :S

Two psychiatrists are having a chat:

"Hey, so how is your patient Mr. Jones doing?"

"Oh, such a pity... I have almost cured him from persecutory paranoia, but then he got shot dead by some maniacs..."

Live free or die. First option is exhausted, so guess what remains?

So why then would they allow the sale of signatures on other forums? Doesn't mke much sense to me.

reportbuttanerfb6.gif

Why would JaGeX care about people who pay whit REAL money for a Sig on a forum, even if the Forum is detictated to RuneScape, it isn't really associated or partnered by RuneScape by far, Geepee's is a other story of RuneScape money for some other pixels.

If Jagex really wanted to stop sigselling, why didnd't they contact the fansites like they did when they asked them to stop posting a certain quest guide. They bother to request fansites not to post a questguide (nothing illegal about this), yet they never even attempt to answer to fansites to issues like this.

All you people that think its ok...messsage jagex saying that you sell signatures for RS gp, see how long it takes you to get banned, easy answer to all our questions.
