360 mill aitn that much...I once won 70 mill in a no armer fight by useing ancient magics against him with my hands.

winning 70m in a duel makes over 5 times that much GP "not much"?

Funny to hear stakers talk about how much money they win without anybody ever requesting info... wonder how much money you lost staking too... Winning a 70m stake doesn't mean much if you lose a 50m stake...

On top of that... that's just 360m cash... his total bank is worth at least 580m... and for somebody who doesn't waste his time with rares, that's pretty good... heck... for anybody that's pretty good

phil, why does it make you glad ? and if it his name is easy to figure out, what is it  . anyway once again , nice article

It makes me glad because it reminded me how much time would be need to played to get to the high levels. I wasted too much time trying to compete with others and that was over a few years.

I'm not going to to tell people what his board name is if people don't know already

First, I agree completely with all the posts about how horrible spending your waking hours on runescape is. I find it sickening because I've seen it pretty close to home.

(And yes, it [runescape] is a highly addictive "drug"... only maybe a medicinal one. It can relieve stress, help you interact with people- unless you happen to overdose, hence negative effects.

*claps for analogy*)

Anyway, to the people who have made those posts, I am curious. Do you ACTUALLY care, or are you enjoying the gossip?

Would YOU be willing to quit runescape, and convince jagex to close it down?

Because that is the only way any of you could make a difference by now.

Just don't cast any stones.

My sig is too big :(

Glad to see you touch on that ghostwolf.

You know, there is some concern on my part for anyone who plays the game too much. A lot of people paint me as a jerk when I say things like the guy needs to get a life. I, myself, have pretty much given up on Runescape totally.

I think the problem with most people is that they get too absorbed into the game. I used to be pretty absorbed in the game myself as well, but I never recall playing the game 10 to 12 hours straight. When people start building their life around a game... thats a cause for some concern. It really seems like a road you shouldn't start down...

...with that said...

Someone compared runescape to cocaine. Cocaine can kill you. It is a veryaddictting drug. Runescape to my knowledge is not. Many young adults around his age go out and party and waste time.

First off... WAY too many spaces in the origional post.

Who ever says Runescape can't lead to death doesn't know what they are talking about. Some people get too absorbed in a game. So much so that they could end up killing themselves if something were to go wrong (whether that be the character dieing, getting scammed, having your account broken into, or whatever).

Now I'm not suggesting n0va would ever resort to such actions, but for you to make such a statement is just totally false. I will say... however... that the person who used drugs as an example might have taken it a bit too extreme.

Its not the game that does it in a sense, but the weak minded people who let the game rule them (and possibly the more younger players at the other end of the spectrum). I honestly feel n0va wouldn't be so weak minded to end his life over a silly game, but I really don't know him that well to really be a good judge of character.

The real disturbing point to this matter is n0va could be doing so much more with his life then playing this game. I really think his family, if they care enough for him, should give him a little nudge and try pointing him in the right direction. And by that I don't mean they should kick him out... that would make me a hypocrite... but they should really sit him down and discuss the situation with him. He could be doing oh so much more... and that just cannot be stressed enough.

I hit my rut a little earlier then he did. And you know, I can probably understand where his mind is right now. He probably simply got tired of working and wanted to take a break. A break is just fine... but then a month turns into a year... a year turns into two years... two turn into five... and before you know it... your life has simply passed you by. He needs someone to help him get motivated. He has a masters degree, its time to use it.

This post has gone long enough. Sorry for the babbling, but I figured I'd get my entire feelings on the situation out there.

12 hours standing in front of a computer, each day. He has evident problems.

[removed like Phil wanted, sorry]

For the record, I did discuss it properly as well. I was just joking around with that comment. :P

Ok Ok, I think these snide little comments have gone far enough.

Fair enough if you were trying to discuss it properly like Y2g2003, but quit with the one sentence replies which aren't helping anything.

Cut the flame. I don't want to have to go clean up the thread again for childish arguments.

Either discuss the article maturely or don't post on this thread. This is a warning.

im up with y2g on this, i think i am a heavy duty weekend warrior when i play up to three-four hours straight, boy was i wrong .i give part timers a bad name with my playing if 10-12 hours a day is front row player. and i get the feeling that that aint outside the norm. most triple jock's ( level 100 and up ) seem to be on 24/7, they are giving macroing people a run for there money lol.

Theres really no reason to flame him even if he plays 12 hours a day, if you say he wasted his whole life by playing rs for 2 years how many ppl live 4 years :P,almost everyone has something they want to do, He seems to like playing rs, fine with me :P

Several people in our staff tried to get Zezima to agree to one, but he wouldn't do it. There may be other famous top players in the future though ;)

I just want to clarify this , as the frequency must have gotten crossed when the message was relayed . Zezima did say he would do the interview , eventually , hes a college student and time isnt much of a luxury at the moment . But dont fret folks , the long awaited questions you all want to see answered from him WILL be answered eventually :D

good article btw , n0va seems like a pretty take it as it comes sort of guy , I wish him luck in his future playtime :)

The fact remains, to be a high level player in this game you need to play for an extremely long time. Be that many hours over a short period of time or a few hours over a long period of time.

Many of you speaking negatively about him and his situation are probally a bit jealous that you don't have the situation or ability to play as much as you would like.

That he's allowed to play and isn't held accountable to himself to survive because he has his family as a safety net is troubling and a bad example to emulate for the average person. But thats his situation and he makes with it what he wants to.

If there is a problem it is not N0va's or his parents; It is with the nature of all MMORPGs. All video games are attractive and addicting. Standard games you eventually beat and move on with your real life. MMORPGS never end. Games that have a cap of a level that can be achieved will attract addictive and ambitious personalities who look to attain that number no matter how hard it is to achieve.

Runescape set that number very high. So high that it would take an average person much longer to reach it than has been set in other games. This was probally built in to the game by jagex to retain its paying members. It has been overly successfull on the business end of things but has also come to those who have become addicted to the game a detriment to their personal lives and health.

I too am in a situation where I am able to play a bit more than the casual players that are detracting from N0va's accomplishments here. I like to think I balance it a bit better than he let on in his interview though.

I make sure I work out 3 times a week.

I buy things cheaply at estate sales and auctions (Comic books, clothes, old toys, militaria, antiques) then list at least 200$ profit worth of items online each week.

I spend time with my loving wife who is the breadwinner of our marriage who understands that I have a goal in this game (99 slayer) and will take a signifigant step back from it once I reach it. Thats what works fr me.

So N0va I caution you not to get caught up in hitting a #1 ranking. Destroy a new skill if it is ever introduced, do new quests , socialize with your clanmates and friends. But if you aim to dethrone or maintain a number #1 ranking your life will become an abyss of catching the numerous and growing amount of addicts to perfection.

I am currently better than you at the one skill you have yet to beat  . After you do it, you essentially beat the game. Take a step back, relish in your achievment and make an impact in the real world with what you have been so graciously given.

Runescape will always be here for you in your free time. If you let it encompass your entire existance as you alluded you may in your interview you will one day be forced through nescessity to quit it altogether.

Nothing can ever take away what you have accomplished. Congratulations on beating a game that seemed impossible to ever beat the first time you logged on.

Take my post as advice or as an opinion but don't interpret it as criticism which many of the lower leveled jealous players are showing through their comments. You do what you are comfortable doing. As long as you enjoy what you are doing and your real life needs are being met who are we to say anything negative. Keep it real.
