Amp
How can you praise a man who wastes 10 hours a day on an online game. It's a fun game and all but I'm sure after Jagex read that article, they posted that Responsible Gaming Reminder just for him.. He also answered the questions like he was a zombie, he sounded unhuman.. Maybe the Zombie Random Event is linked to the idiot?
bringiton55
Great Article! I definitly hope to see more of this in future :D. Guys, you are talking about him being obsessed? So what? who hasnt had a day where they have played for 10 hours? He has a place to live, food, and all necessities. If that was me, I'd be on 12 hours a day too! Bank picture was great, but no d chain or legs, and a few halfshields, and not the best quality picture :? . If you guys ever need another high level to do it on, i got a great person, ltangel :P (best crafter in game, over 91 rc, 99 cooking, 98 or 99 mage...)... she'd probably be a little stingy at first, but i could talk her into it :P (she would love the publicity, and more ppl to sell her hides lol). pennywise
An admin and a mod has warned you guys and you're still making stupid remarks about him playing 10-12 hours a day?Jeeze doesnt anybody listen around here? Well anyways, back to the topic. This was the best tip.it times ever, it was awesome learning about N0va and his styles of play.I hope to see an interview of Zezima soon, wonder what he'd say. Now that I know he uses Tip.it, I'm really curious about who he is... Argh Eight Bananas, MD.
jaklumen
So what? who hasnt had a day where they have played for 10 hours? Me, probably. I'm thinking carefully and I'm not sure I even came close in rs1. Different topic: I thought it interesting that he said the game was too forum-based. *shrug* I rather like things that way-- as this is a browser game, why not rather forum-based? However, I can see his point with no division of the chat.
zenghi
He also answered the questions like he was a zombie, he sounded unhuman.. 10 hours a day behind your computer, and probably about 8 hours sleep. That makes 6 hours to do something else. That will make everyone unhuman... And it makes me wondering if he ever comes outside. [edit] In those 6 hours he also has to eat etc. . This is sick. timescar
Only 10-12 hours a day? I was expecting at least 16 :D After all, you only need 5 hours of sleep a day, and you can eat at the computer and use the bathroom while your guy is engaged in combat. The interview is very well done - I like the selection of question asked. I played a lot for awhile - I got to around 1600 total, around level 120, and around $300M bank in under a year while maintaining a challenging full-time job, a relationship, and exercising a few hours a week. The main problem I had with it is that if I went to bed at 3 a.m. after training slayer or prayer or agility for 8 straight hours, I'd often go to bed thinking "wow, I hate what I'm doing with my life." However, if I had spent the night with my significant other or if I had spent the night playing sports with friends, I'd think "life is pretty good." Name recognition and fame (even online) is fairly hard to come by. I wonder if n0valyfe can turn it to his advantage somehow. Maybe some employer will think "if he's capable of focusing on something long enough to become the best, then maybe he's worth hiring." Then again, potential employers might just think "hum, just another gaming addict."
alexrules350
i like his bank though but if i were the top player in runescape i would agree to an interview.lol i currently think of zezima as a geeky girl who sits behind a computer for at least 15 hours a day who fiddles with the p chat a lot Alexrules350 the mercenary3/10,000 people in my religion!pm me if your interestedthe first only and probaly last king of arturo
Zou_Lou
It was very courageous indeed from N0va to accept this interview, knowing he would be the target of sarcasms, gossip and bad critics about the way he's leading his very own life. I sincerely hope that the bad comments will not discourage other top players to give interviews like this one and that N0va himself will keep posting on tip.it. :D N0va is obviously a very gifted and smart young man, hopefully promissed to a bright future. I wish him to keep on doing what is pleasing him in life, including to spend outrageous time playing computer games. As long as he can afford it, it's noone else business. :P Greetings, Zou Lou. mario86
hey, to the people that say "N0valyfe is wasting his life" are just jealous. let him do whatever he wants. he finished school, let him get his years of fun before he has to work... remember, he enjoys what he does... if it was making him miserable he would have already stopped and his parents and family would have told him to get a job already. Thank you N0valyfe, you're very admirable (to me) =)

smoressoccer
At least n0va is honest enough to admit it. And don't you dare attack his life outside Runescape - n0va is able to solve nearly any level problem in any subject of school on our forums. 67th member to join Tip.it99 Attack 99 Strength99 Defense99 Hitpoints99 Mage99 Range99 Summoning99 Slayer99 Prayer

clayton_2003
I'd expect that out of someone like Zezima. To be honest... I'm surprised N0va was that open in answering some of those questions. He kind of incriminated himself in my opinion. He pretty much implied that he had his life together, went through college, and the whole nine yards... and let a simple little game ruin his life. This article really seems to conflict with the health announcement that Jagex recently released. Everything that these "top players" are... is everything Jagex doesn't want them to be. Playing a game 10-12 hours is just bad. I'm glad I never let myself get that far. No disrespect to N0valyfe, but Y2g2003 explained it very well. I was just about turned off from the whole article when I read that he has played since july of '04!!! What? That's not even 2 years, that was after the major release of RS2! He is showing off his bank account like it's an accomplishment! - you have no life, you spend "10-12 hours a day" and you say that to be one of the best it takes an "every-day dedication to the game"! - that's a horrible way to live, and I don't refer anybody with a weak mind to read this article! So after reading my last paragraph, I take that first comment back, I do mean disrespect! I do not consider myself as an "elite" player. However, I have been playing since august of '02, and at that point "the_old_nite" was a god of the time, but I assume that he always played in moderation. I would always check the high scores to see if anybody was even near him (which there wasn't for a while), and when there was, his xp total didn't move much (which I saw as him taking time off from the game) - which is what everybody should do! - the best way to enjoy the game is to take a week off and play a sport, be a weekend warrior on Runescape, but be active when you're away from it. I would even bet that this is the reason that some of the top players (i.e. Zezima), aren't too inclined to talk about their lives, it brings out their flaws, and I hope the younger players are able to realize that runescape is addictive and it takes a mature person to actually succeed in the game (which N0valyfe hasn't)! stickman
All major clans that are combat 100 + ... how do you think those members got to 100+? most of there combat leveling was most likely confined to a few months of hard core training. Most people who are high level have done the 10+ hours aday... Its not uncommon at all. For a training competition I once got up at like 6 or 7 am and played straight till 12 pm... thats like 18 hours straight. And I did it because I wanted to win. People always say no-lifer blah blah blah whenever they see a high level... but most of these people are good at everything they do (because they like to compete) and will be successfull at whatever they choose to do. So Nova might max out and accomplish what he wants to ... and everyone will call him a no-lifer... he will move on get a high paying job later... and you will be stuck playing RS for the next few years never accomplishing anything and finally quit making a big rant on the general about wasting your whole life. N0valyfe hasn't succeeded the game? He pretty much owns it. And where did you ever get the idea that he isn't mature about it? Who are you to decide what he does with his life! nuugz
Ya I'd rather have a player interviewed that actually experienced rsc. I don't actually consider them worthy of an interview just because they no lifed for less than 2 years.
kelem_ryu
on the addiction topic, that was discussed earlier on this thread: a professor on university once mentioned during a lecture, that in the 19th century many women (mostly women) were addicted to books (up to 18 hours of reading a day. btw those books were of a more obscene nature) he made the comparsion to the computer (and internet) addiction that is common these days. since i have experience with addictions i'm well aware, that i'm addicted to playing computer. you can live with addictions. to get the example of cocain out, that was mentioned earlier on this thread, there are people who are addicted to cocain and live normal lives, have jobs and familys. somebody (on this thread) gave to think, that maybe "real" life isn't as real as many think. maybe there is just an ideal of what people are supposed to do with their lives (like getting a job and having family). playing a computer game 12 hours a day for sure doesn't fit this ideal. (what's in this paragraphe is a whole topic on it's own.) n0valyfe appears to just do what he feels like to do atm and that is a good thing. i'm sure sometime he will move on just because he again feels like it. i think it's a great attitude, that he does what he does atm 100% wasted time is when you don't do what you want to do. EdIT: oh! and wasted lives.. i see people everyday who waste their lives by getting stupid jobs a meanigless marriage, children a house and a dog. still everybody thinks they are doing the right thing btw.. 138! chaos tallys and 585!! strange fruit!!! o.m.f.g. well, tell me when i talk (or think) too much (or wrong things)... =\
