I honestly don't see why all you people thing Metallica are "sell outs" or over-rated... They chose their path, and no one had any right to stop them. St. Anger, maybe they shouldn't have released that one, but Load and Reload, whether ya'll liked them or not, still sold and I liked them.

The term overrated doesn't necessarilly mean 'bad' (although it usually does). However in my own opinion I find Greenday, Nirvana and Metalica way too popular for the kind of music they've made. You can argue about it as much as you wish, not gonna change anything though.

I just saw this,flipped and skipped straight to the end.There is no way Slipknot is over rated.

 

They are amazing.Firstly,Sid Wilson is an amazing DJ,and he showed this by coming up through in his solo stuff dubbed as "DJ Starscream",and if you have listened to him you will doubt that he is awful.

 

Joey Jordison,is one of the fastest drummers in the world.He revolutionised the use of a standard kit by placing the floor tom at the same height as the other 2 toms,making it eaiseir to hit more precisely.His side project "Murderdolls" sold out their first album in a matter of hours.

 

Custom Percussionist Chris Fehn has provided a power house of crowd driving,boasting the creation of some of the maddest pits in the history of gigs,namely that shown in "Disasterpeices"",He is also responsible for developing the art work for Slipknots self titled album, and developing the sound for their albums.

 

Paul Grey,the bassist,has recently taken part in the "Roadrunner Project",in which he took part in the song "The Enemy",playing with all tim ex Fear Factory legend Dino Cazares.

 

Jim Root,currently dating Lacuna Coils Cristin Scabbia,is the lead guitarist,blasting out awesome solo's and throwing out pinch harmonics like there's no tomorrow.He co formed the band "Stonesour" with Corey Taylor,which has been a hit.

 

 

 

Theres a lot of work that went and goes into Slipknot,you dont have a clue what your talking about.Dont have a go at bands like Slipknot,they worked hard to get a record label,they have been through several incarnations of the band,they are not over rated,not like the bands you get nowadays.

 

 

 

 

 

Again with System of a Down,they are not over rated.If you actually listened to these bands instead of just seeing them on the shelves and thinking "If I mention that band people will think I know what I'm talking about",then you might not look like such an idiot.

 

Metallica are good musicians,they just need to appeal to a wider range of people,at the moment I only see 13 year old girls wearing Metallica t shirts.Nirvana are good musicians,they were very big before Kurt shot himself,but I swear everyone marytyrs him which is what annys me the most.Greenday had talent but have sold out to the emo society.

i dont like slipknot and all NU-metal bands. True is this..no matter how much i love nirvana and all grunge music they r overrated slitghtly. They were big b4 suicide but after they were huge. Too bad.. Mettalicas st. anger...i listen it to get my digestin system moving...but early albums r ok. Pink floyd cant be overrated they made music and sound wit so crappy tecnhology and it still sounded good. they r really really good and i adore them. when were on the subject of music, check out topic "dream theater".... :D

Just because a band is over rated doesn't mean they aren't good. Once again I find myself saying "Take Dream Theater for instance".

 

 

 

Dream Theater are an incredibly talented band with each member being a virtuoso on their instrument (except their singer James LaBrie). They're a very good band (widely concieved as being). But they are over rated. There are bands more talented, more technical, more grooveh, more *Metal* \../ than Dream Theater. But they're good.

 

 

 

This thread is stupid. Someone says a band, someone says that band isn't and instead implies they're good, someone explains why they're overated and good/not good.

SIMPLE PLAN! Very overrated. The new Greenday is pretty overrated but I wouldnt've said this 6 months ago. Black Eyed Peas are way overrated. That's about all I can think of right now.

Hmm, I don't know. Black Eyed Peas is great for pop-music, I don't think the bands you're reffering to would fit in that culture, they aren't the type of bands/artists that should be in a hit list. Also I think BEP deserves where it is now.

Not in my opinion. There beats are alright but sometimes they get repetitive. I don't think they are as overrated as Green Day or anything, but they could slide down a couple of notches.
