Time for rares to go

paulhartman

Recommended Posts

First of all, I have been playing for less than a year and a half, so I was not here for the original drops, nor have I earned enough money to buy any.

But, it is time for the rares to go. They serve no purpose other than to make trouble, see recent construction bug massacre, and to provide forums for ostentatious displays of wealth. None of that is constructive to any real purpose of the game. By their careful attempts to avoid the creation of any more rares, it is clear that Jagex does not believe that the rare markets contribute to the game. So, let us do everyone a favor, and get rid of them.

Now, at this point, emotionally immature people will be complaining, âââ¬Ãâyou are just jealous because you donâââ‰â¢t have one,âââ¬Ã

I stopped about here... "ostentatious"

No, its not going to happen. Rares will stay because everyone will complain.

All things discussed before, but none of which will happen.

Without rares I think people wouldn't have anything to aim for. No goals, no play. No play, no revenue. No revenue, no jagex. No jagex, no runescape.

Get it? Rares keep people coming back for more.

I agree with bigmoneyak. And rares had a purpose in Jagex's mind all along: they prove to everyone that the wielder is either a long-time player or someone who has spent a lot of effort in the game.

If you want to abolish Rares, then why not also take Ferraris out of Real life?

The whole market is based on rares. You need some more experience before you recognise that.

Rares > Every other item in game.

Merchanting is uaully assosiated with rares. People play the game for the sole reason of merchanting these rares. Just because they cost alot they should be gotten rid of? You give absolutley no reason as to WHY they should be gotten rid of.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

idea 4, this will never happen because it would get rid of the assumption that jagex mods cant trade, also wouldnt making loads of rares just to sell off to the other runescapers kind of pointless, the first peple would buy them cheap and then make a load of money off them, thus screwing up the market more then it already is, all in all none of these things will happen, ever, period

Maybe, but thats beside the point. Until he gives a valid reason as to why they should go he shouldn't have even posted this.

I agree with axe man jack but if they were to put a solutin to rares then i think they should handle it this way.

Remove every rare out of ppl's banks and give them its currest street value in cash. Or make em untradeable and have a npc that pays the street price for it then in a month or so after all are out of game they can release a shop taht sells them or do another drop

I for one dont care becasue the game doesnt belong to us, it belongs to jagex and they can do whatever they want to

Just quit!

i think he was talking about you when he said the stuff about being childish...and its not one guy he's saying that that's what he believes and letting people know about his thoughts. If you dont agree, then you donthave to post and im sure many people feel the same way. economy crash? i dont think itll be that bad as long as it is gradual

They should actually have a shop that buys and sells the rares for exactly 1M above the current market price. That would stop all price fluxuations, make the newer players able to eventually get one, and the players who already have one happy because they just made 1M GP.

4) And my favorite, have mods start selling rares into the market. This, of course, will drive prices down. But, the mods still sell, driving down prices farther. Since mods have an infinite number of rares to sell, they can keep selling until the rares fall to a price that seems reasonable, say, 100gp each. I love the idea, but Jagex would get a lot of heat for intentionally forcing the market down. So, it is not politically correct or acceptable for them, but it would be fun to watch.

I swear, the "solutions" to the rares "issue" that I've been seeing throughout the years are getting worse and worse.

Oh yea! all merchants are going to be happy they made 1m geepee!

The top merchants make ten times that per day. There trade gone = hundreds of players gone.

dude... i agree that rares are bad in the sense that they r an economy drain... but now

1. its the most depending thing in the ecomonmy

2. runscape screwed up... but the best solution of all would be to take away rares from the ppl who have them and supply them with the estimated cash of the rare... wont b perfect but best way before ecnomy crashes from price going too far!

This wasn't posted in first 5 posts and I think the rest are flames so yeah.

My idea is, jagex sets up a shop which buys all rare items for 50% more than market value and can't sell them back then introduces non-tradeable phats, masks etc for people that only want them for the look.

There's plenty of other things to merchent.

put him in jail

Then i'll just wait for him to drop the e-soap

I hate post's about "the rare's should be gone". Look at it this way... just because you can't afford them doesn't mean they should do away with them. On the other hand if for some reason they did get rid of rare's jagex would lose alot of money, and do you want to pay 5k+ a shark? Deal with it rare's are here to stay...

rares are how merchants make their money,

rares give rich ppl something to spend their money on

without rares stakin would be almost nonexcistint

rares give ppl something to shoot for

Lastly jagex wont make rares untradeable just like they wont rollback the items lost in the fally massacre because the amount of ppl pissed off would exceed the amount of ppl happy

Or we could just distribute all the rares, dragon items and cash equally among all the players. Then turn Runescape into an anarcho-syndicalist commune, where we take it in turns to act a sort of executive officer for the week.

Of course, all the decisions of that officer would have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting...

(Perhaps in a Tip.It poll?)
