June 30, 200620 yr It's probably a mixture. People buy it as a status symbol because it shows wealth. I'm sure for the same price nobody at all would buy an untradable hat, so you know everyone who buys them does it either for the future payoff or as a status symbol because they have enough money to. People do buy party hats because they look good - otherwise rares like half wines and pumpkins would cost more than party hats, which in itself answers your question. Otherwise they'd cost a lot closer in price.

June 30, 200620 yr I had a yellow for looks, got the money for a green so I bought that. Then when they rose the last month I sold my green for the looks (yellow) and some cash so I could continue playing without being broke. I think for most people they are for looks, but the people with more than 1 of the same colour or merchant only have them for their value. Although, there is still nothing wrong with that because (rl reference) car enthusiasts love cars, and some buy and sell them as well as own them for looks. I think the majority of people are swaying to the value side of partyhats as opposed to the looks side of them nowadays. I'd love to get my hand on some more rares so I could upgrade my looks to the white, so I'm kind of both. \

June 30, 200620 yr Well I met a guy in full dragon with a red P-hat once. I asked him, "Why not blue?" (jokingly). He said, "Let me show you something." He traded me and put up 100m. With that, not to mention the stuff he was wearing, he had more than enough money for a blue. He said red just looked better. Which, of course, they do. By the way, this was before blues were even over 100m. Prices are just ridiculous now ... June 30, 200620 yr I personally have a red phat, 4 santas, red mask, and 2 green.... I can't even believe how outrageous the rare prices have jumped recently. I know not that many have left the game and their isnt any more of a demand for them. I believe that the merchanter's are just merchanting between each other driving prices up continuously.

June 30, 200620 yr yeah id say 70% with the party hats only have them because they bought them at 4-20m last year and have kept since eitehr selling a white, red or blue and getting green, yellow or purple and having the other cash to spend. ud only have to of had a blue sell for santas wait to rise to merchant them all and afford blue and green so to speak. i Really want a white one like i used to have wwhen it was 11m lol. I was hacked and quit for 9 months with a couple party hats and now i have made a mear 70m and close to halve the amount needed for a purple. June 30, 200620 yr I originally bought my party hats because they looked good (Of course, this was back when I payed 3M for a red, 6M for a white and 7M for a yellow). Nowadays, considering the price of party hats, I doubt many people buy them for looks anymore.
