issy2
Hi everyone... Just wondering; what are your thoughts on non-conformity? Personally I trail around ingame wearing a sara skirt and full bronze. Anyway...What is it that makes you want to be the same as everyone else, in real life and online? Are you just a replica of everybody else? What makes you YOU? If you walked into school one day in a fluffy white dress, wellies and 1930's pilot's glasses how would your friends react? Why do we all have to be the same? BTW; has anyone out there read 'Stargirl'? It's a reeally great story by Jerry Spinelli. But read it slowly. Personally, I wear what I want, I do what I want. If other's like it, good for them. If they don't, I don't particularly care. Another conformity-thing is Tribute Bands. In my experience (please no flaming on this) I think tribute bands suck. They copy what someone else has done and alter it to suit the public. Idiots...*hisses under breath* Discuss! EDIT: Please appreciate that this is a subject which could VERY, VERY easily turn to pointless flaming. Everyone has their opinion, please do comment on what they say but respect it. Guest XplsvBam
Its all point of view. I view non-conformists as just another non-conformists. I conform I guess. But just because its not worth my time/effort to not. I like to focus on other things like having fun ect. One day I wore a mo-hawk to school in 9th grade, not that big of a deal people said cool hair and I went on with my life. Does anyone find it ironic how many people whine about conformists? Its like a nuclear reactor. When one non-conformists whines the rest whine...

I do things my way not because I think it's cool but because it is the most comfortable thing for me to do. Besides I suck at lying, I can't be who I am not. Lionheart_0
The problem with uniqness now... is that alot of people are trying to be uniqe, and doesnt that make them comformists? For dressing, i just go with what is comfortgable. i wear (since its the summer) jean shorts all the time, and any [cabbage] i pic out of the draw that morning. For acting... well ive been described as totaly insane, quite, a goody good, perfect, weird, nerd, just about anything you can think of. I am totaly random in personality, and my only constant is my unperdictablity (yes i basicly stole that line...) Edit: im also one of the few people who listen to video game music all the time. Besides I suck at lying, I can't be who I am not. The bold is me, I can lie very good actully , but *most* of the times I dont. issy2
my friends respect me That's another big thing. If they respect you, why? Do they respect your personality? Are you kind? Hardworking? Generous? Sociable? Or do they respect your clothes, your accent? Your make-up and hairstyle?
Pandaman115
I am actually sort of unique... It's hard to explain, but, if you knew me in real life, you'd know what I mean. ;) I'm crazy! [Admin Edit: No naming names in a negative light]

Generous? Sociable? Or do they respect your clothes, your accent? Your make-up and hairstyle? they respect me because i respect them. thats why we are friends. well, i stand up for what i believe in. it took awhile and i often stood alone but it was worth everything. i look for personality, i also think that everyone is beautiful in his/her very own way. looks are secondary haha, i wear what i want and thats not necessarily whats "in" or cool. i dont believe the way you look makes you "cool". i often get told that i look different then the others or that i stand out but thats alright and i get asked why i smile so often. smiling is a good way to make new contacts btw. anyway. what i also dont like is talking about me for a too long time, like right now. too many "I"s. the other is as important as i am

Faux
The irony of nonconformism is that so many people will end up being non-conformist that it will become the trend. Your make-up and hairstyle? i have yet to see some-one judge anyone purely by clothes or accent or make-up/hairstyle these only serve for first impressions because there is nothing else to base first impressions of. i'd like to say i'm unique in my clothing style tho im not.. no-one is, i myself discoverd that my clothing style is very similar to "The Strokes" tho i always wear my orange flower swimming pants in summer time. Rose_2_Pure
I respect about six people in my life. Since in real life I am somewhat of an anti-social, you don't know me, you have no reason to talk to me. But out of the people I "hang-out" with I respect two of them. I respect my cousin whom I live with and a old friend of mine and two others. I don't go to school so I do not belong to a group and I work all day, everyday. And I don't consider myself hard-working I just do what I need to do. Rose

Peter
I don't dress uniquely, but I don't wear shirts with name brands on them all the time. Where I differ from everywhere else is my unique personality. Can't explain it, but I make sure everyone knows my personality is ME and not copied. That's about what I am. And a few people have mentioned it already... But non-conformism is becoming so common anymore that you're being a conformist for being a non-conformist. So those who are already conformists become non-conformists maybe? Hah.

Off topic: The Strokes are my favorite band! =D. On topic: I don't want to get too in depth because they I just end up confusing myself. I don't belong in any cliques. I know cliques aren't the exact same thing as conformity, but most people in cliques conform to one another, I think. At school, I don't sit in one certain spot during lunch. I usually visit 6 or so tables and chat with them for a little bit, and greet a lot of people who just happen to be passing by. At school, I'm pretty social. As for outside of school, the only people I hang out are my best friends. I've got about four or five, and we have been going to the same church for about 10 years. How2PK
I never really thought about, I just do something. I don't find it that important either. Oh, and I can be quite 'unique' on how I act, sometimes. Most people find it a bit weird, sometimes I find people who think it's quite charming. That's nice. :) Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
