Your finest gaming moment?

Featured Replies

First off, if this is too early for this thread, excuse it (I think the last one like this happened a while ago).

Anyways, i'll start off:

I was at my friends land and we were all just pretty much hanging around, playing games. One of them was playing matches on their Xbox in varrious 2D fighters.

we started playing Street fighter. So finaly it got up to me versus my friend Michael. Now, i'll tell you this, my friend michael (also known as sam) is very good at 2D fighters, and thus had the controler here most of the time. So I sat down to fight him.

To give you an idea on how good he is, I consider myself fairly good at video games, and since I have played the Street fighter series before I knew a decent ammount of comobos.

... I pretty much got my wagon beat. So we played that some more, until we finaly decided to play some Guilty Gear X. I instantly knew I was going to get beaten, why, I had never played that series before plus it was sam's favorite game.

So the matches started. The first few I just tried out different characters, mostly doing what i'd like to call "systematic" button mashing. Why? Well I was trying out various "well-known" combos in fighting games, such as Down, right A. Well, I was getting beaten.. bad.

I finaly decided to try some HUGE character. Imagine an anime looking hulk and you about have it. So I started fighting with him and I was just pressing all kind of random stuff. All of the sudden the game's sky turns blood red and out of no where my character charges toward's sam and 1 hit KO's him! At this point I sort of just sat there, thinking "what...the hell... just happened :|". My friend sam told me that I had pulled off one of the 1 hit KO combos, supposidly some of the hardest to do and memorize.

Words can't tell you how funny, and how good, that felt. To somehow pull off one of the hardest combos in the game while button mashing, that's gotta take a good bit of luck huh? (and maybe a little skill too  ).

So, what about you guys? What are your finest gaming moments, moments where you crushed your enemy against unbeatable odds, or, perhaps just an amazing gaming moment that made you go "wow".

:)

The two that stand out in my mind are fighting the Cyberdemon in Doom and the Paris nightclub level on Deus Ex. Actually sod it, all parts of Deus Ex.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

I thought everyone could do the 1hit thing in Guilty Gear. It's extremely risky though (it drains your health until you're almost dead, I think?). Always fun when you can beat someone who knows what they're doing, lol.

Well a few weeks ago, I went on some weird killing spree on bf2 lol. I was on fire! I started off kind of weak (kill:death was real low). Then I suddenly went on a streak and was killing everyone! I even got a few kills with my defibrillator, haha. I ended up with a 27-12 kill:death, beating the people spawn camping with their tanks.

But other than that, nothing else comes up when I think of super-underdog victories. :)

heh realy? I didn't notice my health drop though, idk. .

It was still funny, I had no idea what the combo was lol.

Beating Nemesis on FFX is up there, along with Ozma on FFIX. I think though completing all of the Metal Gear's on European Extreme is my favourite. Even my Japanese version of Substinence >.< Didn't know what the smeg was going on half the time but I had a rough idea from 3.

My very first one was beating Super Mario bros. 3 on the NES, in the days when you couldn't save. I dedicated a day of my 8 year life solely for completing the game.

Beating every Zelda game 100%, although that's more a matter of persistance than skill... I guess mastering some of the more complicated fighters in Soul Calibur 2 (Ivy, Voldo) would qualify as a good moment for me.

Getting 100% completion on every mode in Tony Hawk's Underground 1 and 2 and... almost getting it in American Wasteland :P

the only thing that really stands out is in KotoR, we all know what happens in there :D . thats something everyone who completes the games goes through though, so i guess its not really that big of a deal.

Attempting to come back to RS after another very long break.

New York to Paris in the Spirit of St. Louis on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. It took 31 hours, many saves, much frustration, and some Mountain Dew.

Oh, and I did it with a map on my desk, I didn't use electronic radio instruments for navigation. I made a slight error and ended up in like Seville, Spain. I refueled and made it to Paris.

Wizards of the coast used to have CS tournaments, and I went to a few. I was decent, but never the best, the last tournament they had before closing was going decent for me. They then decided to switch to UT halfway through, and I was REALLY good at UT, so I owned everyone, and got a free week playing games on their computers.

Metal fans, check out my band!

I wish we had Halo tourneys at my school. It'd be even better if we had teamed tourneys. My friends and I would have a good chance at winning... Sigh...

Anyway, my finest gaming moments are those when games get screwed up and I'm stuck 4 on 1 in Halo 2 matchmaking. Then I own. ;)

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.
