85 Slayer - Is it worth it anymore?

I mean, with all the time and effort you put in to it is it worth it, now that whips are around 2m. It would take months to get to 85 slayer, and in that time yould could make way more money in that time doing something elce. And you dont get a whip drop very often..... Well, i guess i cant really talk cus im only 71 slayer :-#

their was a thread like this a few months ago...and basically yes. it is worth it, if you want to be realistic its combat exp and totall lvls and just total expereince if anything, which is always good. whip drops are just icing on the cake, and really having the ability to kil for another GREAT weapon which can, really be gotten with little effort if u forget about the time it takes to get the drop. because really the abby demons dont hit hard then can do this and that... low defense blah blah blah, they also drop decent stuff that arent whips...

dont forget while training slayer, you will easily pay for your repairs if your using guthans only to heal, in fact i never used guthans as armor unless i was @ kalphites because they multi attack hit often and have poison, while i powered my way from like 58-78 slayer i made alot of $ off drops, and since then ive gotten even more $ from slayer drops.

 

 

 

 

 

i went to nechraels with 78 and 79 slayer, and ive had like 6 rune boot drops and at 150k ea, thats a sweet 2 hours worth of attack experience.

Yea ofcourse, hard work, respective level. And ofcourse the whips.

 

And even if whips get 1m, they are still free. :

If you've got the time for it, go ahead. I don't think it's worth it if time matters in your life though. The time spent getting to 85 you could be doing better things, and 2mil drops just aren't going to get you your time vs money efficiency back.

a 1mil drop is still a million dollars you get for training your melee stats... it seems like if you were out attack chaos druids and got a left half you would leave it because its only 700k now and not 4mil like it was 6 months ago...

sure it's worth it: who knows what other weapons/goodies Jagex will implement on higher slay-level monsters later on in the game ? Better to close that gap already than being confronted later on with yet another missed opportunity.

Simply: yes.

 

 

 

Getting there could get some decent drops. Nechs with rune boots, g mauls, and once you get to abbys, they do drop more than just whips, which isnt bad even still, 2mil in ONE drop? Nice. They drop rune, clues (i think), essence, and other useful stuff.

my friend recently ahcived 85 slayer, well not really but he has made alot of money from them and he supports 85 slay,

 

2.3m+ a day aint bad if i dont say so myself lol

If you're like 70+, maybe 75+ Slayer or something maybe then you should go ahead and finish off the training and get 85. But at the current time, working from grounds zero would be a TOTAL waste of time; there are many other things you could be doing to get cash instead spending time training Slayer. 85 Slayer is no easy feat, it takes 100s of hours of Slayer training to achieve... those 100s of hours could definitely be put to better use than the ever declining, ever rarer Whip drops.

slayer is luck, if i decided to go for a "best-in-stat" level itd be 91 runecrafting because its definite money, usually when i train my combat stats now its in pest control.

it was never worth it, after the 1st 6 months.

 

 

 

What is does do is give you a reason to train combat, range and mage.

Yes mam, its very worth it. You forget about all the other drops these monsters give you. They are also an amazing source of xp for all types of combat. I went to 99 on all my melee stats from those monsters and got to 95 from 85 range on them as well as about 8 magic levels with slayer dart. They hit very low, have lots of hp and little defence so you will hit them hard. They give great drops as a side benefit.

 

 

 

The best part about it is that they are mindless! meaning if your doing homework, chatting with friends, or cant think of anything to do but are too lazy to really do much, whatever your reason! you can just go and relax at the abyssals and maybe youll get lucky enough to make a free 2m or maybe get a dragon drop (which I've had about 8 drops from them).

 

 

 

So yea, its very worth it.

so if you kill a firegiant and it drops a dmed, you wont pick it up because its only 400k now? you act like 1m from a single drop isnt a good thing lol...and if you dont like it, dont train it, its still a good thing

Who cares about the drops, why wouldn't you train slayer? It's about the fastest combat experience you can get with the addition of the Black Mask, and you get to train on all different kinds of monsters, the whip drops are just the icing on the cake as someone said before.

it probably would be worth it because as many people before me have said, abyssals do drop good things other than the whip. and also, training slayer is fun if you have nothing to do (like me :P )

Another 85 slayer means more whips getting dropped, and also a drop in their market value. You are totally right in thinking that 85 slayer is not worth it anymore! Don't train slayer! I'll take care of those abby demons don't worry. Train something else, but let my precious abby demons alone!

I think that maybe in the near future there would be more different monster drops for high slayer... like they will release more slayer monsters making high slayer very helpful. I'd say go and train it. :)
