What's with construction bots?

Man bari that article amazed me! What a terrible job!

""For 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, my colleagues and I are killing monsters," said a 23-year-old gamer who works here in this makeshift factory and goes by the online code name Wandering. "I make about $250 a month, which is pretty good compared with the other jobs I've had. And I can play games all day."

"Most of the players here actually make less than a quarter an hour, but they often get room, board and free computer game play in these "virtual sweatshops.""

Terrrrrrrrible!

But yeah they don't make millions of dollars though.

From what I have heard, the macroers might not necessarily be Chinese.

It is rumored that Runescape is a money-losing proposition for farming companies, so it is possible that players are simply obtaining these programs from Chinese sources.

Some coders write these programs to test Java skills. That is about as ethically sound as programmers/coders writing viruses to hone their skills for remote companies (say in 2nd World areas) so the company can turn around and offer antivirus solutions for it.

But the message still stands: just don't do it.

Nope, it's a legal enterprise, since most of those games allow gold and item trading. JaGex can't sue them because it is impossible to track which company is farming gold from just an IP address. Runescape is one of the few MMO's out there with a no-real item trading policy.
Kinda makes me think why they have this rule in place then? If people want to waste there money on it then why not let em?
Make the game fair for everyone O:) If everyone bought stuff, we'd all have 94 mage by now

wow, that reply was just. not needed to be polite...

its true, if i could writing a macroing program for frunescape because i like RS and wanted to test my skills and see if i was accomplished then yea this is a great testing facility, runescape has actually decent measures for it. nothin is fool proof but they definately narrowed the bug abusing and macroing community a slight bit.

I just read an interview in a local paper with a guy who also was doing the same thing. he said he earned around 2000$ a month. It may be little in USA, but where I come from it's a really good salary...

That's a "master" who uses bots to make his money. The slaves in China may only make a quarter an hour, Smavey, but the people paying them make millions of dollars.

Blaziken: I really doubt in this world filled with political corruptness and terrorists that the FBI would waste thier time working for JaGex. There is no law against gold harvesting, but JaGex chooses not to allow real item trading. So it's a basic rule instead of a law.

JaGex could sue, but they would never be sure as to who to sue unless it's a single bot-user who got stupid.

Er, not only that, the FBI is an American organization. Blaziken's was just stupid and poorly thought out.

If a company wants to add arbitrary rules to their services, they may, but absolutely nothing gives those rules the force of law, unless a contract is signed, and even then it's just a contract violation.

anyway, back on topic.

There are autoers everywhere, doing everything.

In classic there were even autoers acting like a taxie service. a bunch of them walking back and forth between 2 cities. like lumb and varrock, and lumb and edge etc.

People followed them, so they wouldn't have to keep clicking to get to the place they wanted to go.

They even made it like a tour guide "on the left you will see autoers fishing, say hi everyone"

"Here we are, hope you enjoyed the ride, have a nice day"

Good times...

stop being racist, im part chinese, just say a farmer... no, say a CHEATER.

We aren't being racist. Most of the company bots are stationed in China or Taiwan. There are many people in those nations who farm gold in many MMORPGs and sell the money for real life money. They literally make millions of dollars.

millions? I doubt millions..I'm sure they can make a decent amount if they spend the time though.

With more than 100 million people worldwide logging on every month to play interactive computer games, gold and levelling companies are already generating revenues of $3.6 billion a year from subscriptions, according to DFC Intelligence, which tracks the computer gaming market.

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/09/techn ... 2e&ei=5090

On further review, that post seems kinda irrelevant, but google the subject. There are hundreds of sites, each with thousands of workers. They make a lot of money.

I was just about to post this very same article. :)

RSN: Greedom1 | QP 248+ | Combat 116 | Total 1920+ | Skills 95 craft, 99 farm, 88 herb, 91 mage, 85 slayer

Values? What do they mean?

Ok I agree, I finally see the lights, I won't ever talk about FBI VS Bots ever again.

Anyway back to topic.

I wonder how they make money for the planks they have to pay for? :-k

Jagex must do something. They will eliminate them eventually. I think these programs should be only the programs available:

Opera

Internet Explorer

NetScape

FireFox

Windows Silent

others shouldn't be allowed in there. Well, all browsers that you can't hack into game with are ok, I hope I'm doing good now for a chance.

Well, this has to end.

Cursed you easily had 200,000$ worth of items when he was banned for real world item trading, I dont doubt some of these farming companies are a lot richer then he was, considering they can make 50 million a day per worker, if they got 10 workers thats 500 million a day..

Because then adults who get payed a lot of money can have a bil p hat sets and everything they need to lvl up.. But then teenagers like me who only get like 1% of what the adults get payed can't have that stuff even though they have been playing longer... It's just not fair.....

It wasnt for macroing.. Why would a lvl 125 with every item in the game macro..

He had nothing to do with the pk anywhere bug besides durial discovering it in his house, but people discovered it in other houses the day before, they just didnt get as much publicity.

Cursed was banned for real world item trading, im not sure whether he sold anything or not becouse jagex has it in for rich high levels.

They sell the planks cheaper usally so most ppl would buy from them. I once bought 8k of em for 440 each (i needed 10k). I went to varrok east bank the next day, he had another 15k -.- .

These noobs should seriously be stopped.
