September 23, 200619 yr Aside from the real obvious one there's one more subtle i think. Those are the sacred lunar gear (the ones u make during the quest). It's extremely expensive to replace actually if u destroy...whoops. 10k for boots 10k for gloves 4k for amulet 2k for ring 15k for helm 80K For trousers 120k for body totaling a whopping 241k... Discuss this or any other money drains you've seen in rs besides this and con. September 23, 200619 yr lunars pretty useless for the most part, keep plate legs for a cheap (sorta) alternative to splitbark though. also ring is cool.
September 23, 200619 yr 241k is slightly more than split bark. The Stats are slightly lower than split. I really don't mage that often so it doesn't much matter to me. I just kept the ring, that's all I needed. Much cheaper than a Farseer yet almost as good ftw. We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.
September 23, 200619 yr This is about as much a money drain as the wizards guild is with selling mystic robes... The money drains are in the CONTINUOUS drains... Barrows and Crystal are only a part of it. Log to Planking even a MASSIVLY bigger part. But it's still not enough... You've got the right idea, but I think alching is the major source of money . Think about it, people alch K's of yew bows, each bringing in 750 new GP into the game... September 23, 200619 yr How about, no gp reward from Pestcontrol? Whatch' you talkin' 'bout Willis? I would be devestated if there was no differentiation from killing all the portals and just surviving twenty minutes. Jagex has allowed US to create the economy which was a silly thing to do from the beginning because of all the scamming that was possible and whatnot but what's done is done. Just because a rare such as an Abyssal Whip is becoming less expensive doesn't mean that we have to start removing elements from the game! If anything should be done people should just hold out for more money if they are really demanding 2 Million gold for the whip. I'd say it's the sellers fault for letting the price fall, they are the ones creating it lower instead of saying "Selling Whip 2.1M".
September 23, 200619 yr It depends on your money balance...If you have a few mill, 241k wont really matter I got over 100mil networth and still I think 241k is quite a bit...
September 23, 200619 yr Once again I disagree with you tefda :P How about you get the GP reward if you survived 20 minutes, and not if you killed all the portals? And you saying people should hold out with their whip prices... that only works if EVERYONE does it... and then always some noob will sell his slightly cheaper, just cuz then he can go on with his other business... September 23, 200619 yr ... and then always some noob will sell his slightly cheaper, just cuz then he can go on with his other business... oh, so your saying some noob who wants to get back to skilling instead of sitting in fally for hours on end is the reason for low prices? calling people noobs for wanting to play the game...hmm well im not sure where your thoughts are coming from...
But... but.... but... money :ohnoes: Bah, Jagex won't be changing Pest Control like that since it's one of their more popular mini-games. About this one noob. He can't have all of the whips, so why don't these other sellers hold back for a while. Let us look at history for a second. Merchants have always existed because goods needed to be sold and it is sometimes difficult to find certain goods which is why the merchants came into existance, to be a one stop shop for what you are looking for. Now a merchant who doesn't sell his goods will eventually die off/go out of business. If other merchants start to undercut another merchant the latter will then undercut the others and so on. It's a vicious cycle just like you said. Now what happens when the selling price becomes less than the costs, the merchants say "Dang it! What have we done?". This is why Guilds were formed. These "guilds" were organizations to basically control prices and keep them either fair or profittable for the merchants selling them. Why do these merchants not band together and unify themselves into a grand organization. If someone in the guild is selling an item below an agreed price then they could easily be removed from the guild. Now sure there will be people outside of the guild but if it could become large enough and have outside-of-game resources (i.e. a Website with a searchbase and an order placement system) and if it were to make deals for advertising space on Tip.it and other RS communities then it would be the premier site to search for items for sale. People would join the guild because it would be known as "The best place to buy and Sell Runescape items". The only problem would be getting it known throughout Runescape at first, otherwise it would take care of itself.

How about, no gp reward from Pestcontrol? i disagree with you on the part of as much drain as mystic robes. First off, no one buys from there. Period the end. Second, i'm not saying this is contributing to gp drain, or even thats a major one. wat i'm talking about is that they had gp draining in mind when they designed those prices. September 23, 200619 yr Barrows gloves are by far one of the biggest money drains, since they've come out I must have lost what? Over 80 pairs.
September 23, 200619 yr For anybody who is blaming High Alching and PC reward money for lowering prices.... Supply and demand is not only limited to items, it pertains to currency as well. Think, the more money that flows into the economy, the LESS it is worth. If Gold pieces are worth LESS, then you would need to pay MORE gold for any given item. However, if a ton of money is drained from the economy, less currency = HIGHER value. The higher value of money means that less money is needed to pay for certain items. The two main factors of the recent price slashings are: 1.) Money drained from the economy (From construction, and possibly people cancelling membership for the school year) 2.) Increased supply of Barrow items and whips (As Barrowing gets easier and more efficient, and people reach the higher levels, the flow of these items increases) If we want prices to rise, we need MORE MONEY (Not items) in the economy, and less high value items such as Barrows and Whips. I'm predicting that the supply of these items will become so high in the near future, that they will be rendered virtually worthless until more pure currency floods back in to balance prices. Once Barrows and whips become worthless, I suspect players will begin to reluctantly return to skilling, which will bring in GP needed to balance the economy. Of course, this is all subject to change if Jagex decides to release a revolutionary update.

Exactly, I'm not quite at 100M but spending any kind of cash over 100k is downside to me. I HATE spending money, but I'll do what I gotta do.

Ppl selling for 2 mill just get impationt and sell lower or a noob says ill buy for 1.9 its only 100k less and they trade. then another noobie says i saw ppl selling iot for 1.9 but all i got is 1.8 pls pls pls pls. And then ppl; give in and eventully it will go very low .Ppl need to not sell wips for 2 mill if every one would rise up and sell for 3 mill or higher then noobs would have to buy or they just dont get a wip. True, but I assume you've gotten 9 million from other players by selling the items you got from Miscellania? It's a money sink, but a money sink that returns your investment from other players. Same goes with Barrows and Crystal Bow. You may spend cash upkeeping the items, but I assume that by using them you end up with more cash and xp than when you started. September 23, 200619 yr The charter ships are also a money drain. They cost way more than the boats to Karamja. Port Sarim to Brimhaven is 1.6K, while Port Sarim to the other Karamja dock is only 30 gp. I doubt that the walk between the two docks is worth 1570. September 24, 200619 yr I'd like to point out that Jagex needs to do something. The amount of money creators is much higher than the amount of money drainers. Here is a list. Money Drainers Miscellania Repairing Barrows Armor Buying stuff from shops Logs to Planks Construction (Creating Rooms, Dungeon monsters) Money being dropped and disappearing Transportation (Boats, Mining Carts) Lunar/Splitbark Clothing Money Creators Monster Drops ALCHEMY Selling items to shops Pest Control Obviously, the amount of Money Creation is much higher than Money Draining. Jagex needs to either lower Money Creation, or increase money draining. 99 Crafting Blog

Actually I've probably lost money doing it. I've kept 55k maples, used all my seeds and kept all my nests, only selling a little coal here and there. But yes you are right in that it could generate revenue for me but not in the way that alchemy is literally making revenue. Categorizing money sinks by ability to profit from them is somewhat hard to do. I could argue that the money wasted on construction getting to the level for making an armor stand is actually one you can profit off of with sufficient repairs. I know others have made that comparison before but in that light it is no less of a profit maker than barrows, cbows or Miscellania would be. To Dalcyte: that isn't generating gp, merely items. The gp I'm getting from others is being removed from circulation and part of that is being dumped down a black hole in the Kingdom. It's only transferring wealth, not making some where there was previously none. 571st to 99 Fm Nov. 4 '06 - 315th to 99 Crafting Mar. 3 '07 - 3410th to 99 Fishing Sept. 18 '0726378th to 99 Cooking Oct. 16 '07 -.- 99 Thieving Dec. 29 '07 - 1343rd to 99 Farming June 5 '081807th to 99 Agility Nov. 8 '08 - 3094th to 99 Smithing Feb. 14 '092012 total - 91 combat
