September 24, 200619 yr This is about as much a money drain as the wizards guild is with selling mystic robes... The money drains are in the CONTINUOUS drains... Barrows and Crystal are only a part of it. Log to Planking even a MASSIVLY bigger part. But it's still not enough... Everyday more and more money flows into the economy, making prices drop like a STONE recently... The other way of stopping the pricedrops (cmon, whip 1.8, dsq 1.4?) is STOPPING the flow of money pouring INTO the game... How about, no gp reward from Pestcontrol?you arent making any sence, if the price drops have anything to do with recent deflations, then there really isnt anything bad about the price drops because the value remains the same. But since alot of the common recources remain the same in price, then that means it isnt deflation. The problem is that there are alot more of theese items around (such as whips), look at how often lvl 85 slayers get whip drops nowdays. There really is no constant deflation, just less inflation as jagex makes more of theese drain updates. Lastfm
September 24, 200619 yr well i say whips are over priced there not the best wep in game by much and more r coming into the game so they will drop soon neway lol...look at g mauls i remember when i prayed to get a gmaul kill when they were 1.1 ea and now i get them all the time and its like uhhh big woop i sell 80k cuz im in hurry...same is gonna happen wit whip as g maul and if it dont ppl will be over pricing them just like they r now... future predicted whip flat price-400 to 600k
September 24, 200619 yr God. I told myself I'd never do this. I posted in the wrong topic =D> #-o
September 24, 200619 yr want to talk about money sinks, just look at construction, there is no monitry reward for making most of the items, just cost.

I definately agree there needs to be way more money drainers in the game, as suggested, a (non tradable) type of armour worth 10m from NPCs only would be a great way, but i'm not sure if Jagex would ever do that due to complaints -.- Sig And Avatar by Tripsis - 99 Slayer Blog - My Pyramid Plunder GuideOwner of Fire Cape since 28-09-2005 - 426th to 99 Strength
September 24, 200619 yr Obviously, the amount of Money Creation is much higher than Money Draining. Jagex needs to either lower Money Creation, or increase money draining. actually, the money drain is working too well, remember just 2 months ago, guthan veracs are 2 mil higher and whip are 600k higher? the ultra fast price dropping rate suggest that the money creation rate cannot cope with the econormy cycle... The money drain was working well 2 months ago because construction had just been released and everybody was draining money since it was a new update and a hype. Thats why its not draining nearly enough now. Because it is an old update from 2 months ago and the hype has died down. You need to learn some economics because the price dropping rate is caused by too much GP being created. 99 Crafting Blog
September 24, 200619 yr price dropping rate is not caused by too much GP being create, instead an inflation should in theory happen, as more GP, the value of GP should decrease... edit: oh, and by the way, thats deflation, not just supply owns demand, the demand for barrows and other amours (rune, dragon) is still strong and almost all tradable goods had drop in price... except rares which only occupy a tiny portion of the market, because they are.... rare! as i remembered, construction is released on 31th may, thats 3 months ago I can date when guthans is still 9mil at august 12, because i bought guthans temporary for another firecape trial... either the fuss of construction is still on going which i doubt or the money drain is very effective thoughts? September 24, 200619 yr Ack, that is quite a bit for that armor. It's not a lot, but it is a signifigant mney drain. What's next Jagex!?
September 24, 200619 yr Doesn't it make more sense for the amount of items in game to be the case of price deflation. For instance lets say i magically created 10mil for everyone but there were only 1000 whips in the game the price for whips wouldnt drop due to everyone haveing money. The reason for prices droping is due to the amount of whip or d []'s there are in the game, at least thats how i see it... sorry if im wrong :-# Just an average player with a horrible name...

The reason for prices droping is due to the amount of whip or d []'s there are in the game, at least thats how i see it... sorry if im wrong :-# Not wrong but not right either... A deflation is a general price drop. it is a situation, not necessary to be a decrease in money supply, so saying deflation as a cause in fact doesnt make any sense at all. demand and supply of the goods itself is one of the many factors determine the price, but not the only factor. Remember the real price is determine by the value of money? The supply of money also affects the price. have a look at dlongs, mystic robes and cannon, the is virtually no increase at supply at all, but the price is even lower than its original price, so supply doesnt mean anything... In your example, if you are assuming everything doesnt change, in fact the price of whip will rise, because everyone got 30mil and there is only 1000 whips, 30mil is just worth like 1gp by ratio, because having 30mil is no longer rich. Increasing the supply of whip certainly will drop whip price, but how often can you get a whip? comparing to the rising demand for whip? It is not rune, you look around mine and smith a bit and got a plate... Examine ChenGMT (level: 138)

September 24, 200619 yr  I wish i did'nt go pking in my lunar body and legs, got koed and lost them.
September 24, 200619 yr I'm going to give a rough guess that two million people have unlocked the lunar stuff. I'll make another rough guess that seven hundred thousand people have had to go back and get the items again. 700,000 x 241,000 = 168,700,000,000 (one hundred and sixty eight billion, seven hundred million) Duke Freedom estimated there is now 455 billion coins in RuneScape's economy. I'm going to estimate that now, about 100 billion coins have most likely been made back. 555 billion is now my total guess. Remove around 170 billion for this, and i'm estimating there is around 385 billion coins left in RuneScape. I'll put that up to 400 billion, since this is most likely not a very good guess, lol. So my very rough guess is that there's about 380-400 billion left in the economy, and around 150-170 billion drained by the recent updates. Also, the lunar update was a while ago. I'm going to guess that since then, with a [certain rich player with 99 construction]'s banning, rares have gone up quite a bit. Merchants will be saving/selling those, so i'll guess that we've made it back up to about 470 billion already now. This is my educated guess, the numbers are complete estimates.

Those are very POOR estimates. There are only 98,000 people with 61 crafting. And just how many of those people are f2p? And just how many of those people don't have the other requirements? Probably narrows down to about 40,000 people. Now, how many of them actually went out to do the quest? 99 Crafting Blog
September 24, 200619 yr 2 MILLION people that have done lunar diplomacy???? no way... not even a 20th of that... less then 100,000 people have the crafting level requirement for the quest... some of them perhaps havent done shilo village, or havent got the mining requirement (60), or perhaps arent even P2P at all... worst estimate ever? September 24, 200619 yr Out of everyone that has done Lunar Diplomacy and lost the Lunar armour I bet 3 have went back to get a new set. I threw mine on the ground for bankspace except staff and ring. Also: Barrows and whips keep dropping because more are being found not because money sinks are working. GP reward from Pest Control should be removed along with the amount of points you can collect a day/week limited since it's the fastest combat xp out there. That's a different discussion though.
September 24, 200619 yr They should lower the GP creation little by little. Starting with 500 gp per pest control game. 99 Crafting Blog
September 24, 200619 yr So were all on the conclusion that money drains have little to do with the value of certain items? Lastfm
September 25, 200619 yr WOW. 241k to replace a Lunar Set. You make money on miscelenia in the long run. Yes, but Jagex removes 75K a day from your account and the main way to make money off Miscellania is by selling to other players. So money leaves the economy in the first part and is tranferred from one player to another in the second part. Therefore it is technically a money drain. September 25, 200619 yr I'm surprised no one has mentioned Miscellania as a money sink. I know it's removed about 6M from me alone, far more than I've spent on Construction. Exactly. People think miscellania is a good return for money. unlike construction it actually gives you useful things so it is favoured over it, soon we will be trading items for items and GP will become rarer, that is the reason for whip prices to drop, d sqs to drop etc. I estimate all jagex need is 3 more money sinks and rares will start dropping as well. Merchants will have no chance now if prices keep dropping and finally they will stablise go up a bit then drop again. But hey thats just my view \ I think merchanting is extinct....
