Sumpta
I think we might finally see a use for bird's eggs. Good thing, I have about 25 in my bank... My first reaction was "oh no, I'm not ready for a new skill" - it does seem very fast after construction. I was focussing on getting 1700 skill total by New Year, guess I'll have to adjust that plan.I was quite happy with the current set-up, but I know I'm just too curious to leave the skill be. If the skill's there, I'll want to train it. I just hope it won't be a money-drainer, but a skill like agility or slayer. Slow to train, not requiring cash to speed it up. Quasar889
This would be cool if it was team-based. They could release the long sought after clan support with this, and integrate it into the skill. You might have to go in hunting parties with friends or a clan to kill higher levelled monsters, and do some team-based strategy to get to the location of the monster. The drops could be auto-shared among the team mates, or they could go to a leader who would sell them and give out shares as he/she sees fit. I see a lot of team-based potential on this one. Quasar889
I bet it will be have an element of construction and crafting (making traps), so I'll probably train those skills. Also, stock up on raw materials like planks and nails. You never know what the traps will be made of. You act like the game community is like the stinking bowels of hell.... Freshwacka
It sounds rushed and I don't like it. If you want to hunt just go play the Yukon Trail. 99 Crafting Blog

Mordendravid
Hunting is never going to come out as a skill when we have Ranging, Slayer, and Attack. It sounds rushed and I don't like it. If you want to hunt just go play the Yukon Trail. You surprise me Fresh :P Can't believe that soo many people are complaining already and it's not even out yet!! The only reason that people are saying it is rushed is since it's coming out so soon after the construction release. However, even Jagex stated that construction was delayed from their intended release date.... So: a) If construction had gone in according to the original plan there would have been a longer gap between the skills being released B) To imagine that work only started on Hunter Skill after construction was completed is just daft c) We've already seen that Jagex won't implement a skill until they think it's right - there was a lot more expectation/pressure for the construction skill What's more interesting is the question asked in a previous post as to what items might be required - granted it's only speculation, but that's far more thought-provoking than "I don't like the sound of this new skill".... Angryburrito
I don't see the difference between Slayer and Hunter. I think Jagex needs to stop improving the actual game and focus on something that actually needs work, like their customer support. sorry bros i'm not mexican

If you want to hunt just go play the Yukon Trail. what the hell is the yukon trail? only game i ever played where hunting was a major thing was the oregan trail. I don't see the difference between Slayer and Hunter. I think Jagex needs to stop improving the actual game and focus on something that actually needs work, like their customer support. i cant believe you people have no imagination, its probably going to be cookings fishing equivilent. all you do is hunt stuff down kill it grab the meat and cook it use the remains to make clothing or perhaps jewerly, like native americans did, they also used alot of other stuff i seriously doubt hunting will be like slayer in any way. well i mean slayer is like here you cant kill this until this level, ok maybe it might be like that, but i bet hunting will include bows or possibly guns. expect to see deers beavers and stuff like that in the game

I think Jagex needs to stop improving the actual game and focus on something that actually needs work, like their customer support. The only noticable likeness between Slayer and Hunting from what Jagex have said about it so far, is that the names of them are alike. That's really about all you can say they're alike in so far, especially considering it's not actually out yet. Too many people just complain about whatever they can these days, even before they know what something is, it's pathetic. And as I wrote in the other thread, if you don't like an aspect of the game, don't play that part of it, no one's making you. FuriousElf
I don't see the difference between Slayer and Hunter. Mod Paul confirmed that Hunting will be different from Slayer. I personaly think that you can make traps or something and use those to catch animals which have other useages.

Brinner
im looking foward to it... It isnt slayer because you use traps and stuff to hunt the creatures unlike slayer which you just slay a beast using a different items also it seems like hunting might not have tasks to do itand it would also seem that you could make new equipment with furs and stuff... PhelimReagh
It's very strange that folks can say one way or another whether they like this new Hunting skill or not. We know nothing about it. How can you know whether it's good or bad? And rushed? Unless you're privvy to Jagex's game development cycle, you're off your rocker. Games are developed in stages, with these types of releases done in parallel. While Jagex was putting the finishing touches on Construction, they were already no dobut deep into the early stages of developing this new skill. And guess what? As the testers and programmers are finishing up Hunting, I can guarantee you that other folks at Jagex are already fleshing out the details of at least one more skill, albeit in the much earlier stages. So if Hunting comes out in a month, they're probably already a few months into the next skill "Animal Husbandry" or something (made that one up). Each new update is usually developed to address one deficiency or another in the game. There was a lot of cash floating around, so the Jagex folks thought up construction. What parts of the game are "under-utilized"? Most certainly, the west of Runescape, Tirannwn, and to a lesser extent, the Tree Gnome Stronghold (although I'm sure lots of folks like it that way ;-) ). I would also not be surprised if that last bit of the west opened up as well. Special hunting grounds of a new race of people. or something. Under-utilized skills? Agility and Farming are pretty under-utilized, I'd say. There could very well be a tie in there (growing a special food to lure certain animals). You may also have to chase creatures down, requiring a high agility to keep up the hunt. I would expect that the folks at Jagex are probably are gonna try to get people out of the mines and furnaces, and away from the Yews, to see what this whole world they've created looks like. It's interesting to speculate, but of course, we have no idea what this new skill is going to be like. But I'm at least excited to find out.
