bbalking
i'll start by apologising if there are any other threads like this :ohnoes: well there are 22 skills (soon to be 23) that you can choose to work on in runescape, but what i am curious about is what attracts you to training a skill? many people train the combat skills first as they are weary about the other skills, and it doesn't help wherever you walk your getting called a noob for being a low level. but then there are level 3 skillers... so what attracts you to skills, if you have done the "Legends" quest then u must have around level 50 in a good few skills, i think that training for Legends is the main "introducer" of skills to people. i know that a hadn't done much herblore or agility before legends because i thought they were useless, now i see that they are VERY useful. so quests make you train skills, but is there anything else? money from herblore, combat (pking), farming or fishing? or maybe you're trying to keep up with a friend and u both have a undisclosed jealousy...? lol i know that i did with a good friend  now that the new 99 skill capes are out that has pushed many people to train so post your reasons for your intrest in skills :-k thanks

zazacon
I don't have a very short attention span for skills. I can NOT do something repetitive for very long. The main reason I like fishing is because I can do other stuff on the internet while I fish.
ir3land
I like skills that i can muilti task with, like reading forums or something. whizkid338
I like woodcutting, runecrafting and smithing. They are cool and they are good money-makers. And RuneCrafting has an ownage skill cape emote. R.I.P The Old Nite. Heroes get remembered. But Legends never die. I_Rule_21
I do skilling because, well what else is there to do on runescape? you have to get your skills up to do quests, you have to get skills up to get money... etc. Do you see my point? Viv
i used to hate skills... now my friends think that i am owneage the ones that are lower then me. i focus on total levels and train everything. if i see a skill as noobie i go train it to the level i want then go to a nother skill i think is noobie. Lunar_Drifter
I, being a skiller, love skills. There are those which are great money makers, such as fletching, fishing, runecrafting, and woodcutting, among others, that I love to do to keep that extra money in my bank account at all times. But agility, farming, and firemaking are just a trial of my patience. These can be fun if you race friends around the agility course, or see who can level up fastest, but other than that they can be pretty boring. My favorite skill, however, is prayer. I love to level prayer, both for the obvious benefits and for reactions. Prayer is always great to have to get me out of a tight situation or to protect an item if I'm sure to die. But the reaction of people when I tell them my prayer level (33 now) at level 7, are pretty amusing. Plus, its an achievement not many can say they have under their belt, that achievement being level 8 with 43 prayer. Soon I'd like to be lvl 15 with 99 prayer! Sorry for such a long read, just sharing my opinions on skills with you! Retired Tip.It Mod || Admin and Founder of Caesar 3 Mod Squad! jiggeryqua
I find that all the skills are useful in some form, for a balanced game, and I find they climb quite steadily as I do short bursts of them in my various routine activities, to avoid the boredom of power training. Catherby is great for multi-tasking, and as slayer takes me round the world training combat I get to take little detours and nudge my other skills up now and again. I'm not uberwealthy (apparantly - full rune and a d long marks me out, apparantly, as 'could try harder'), but fitting crafting sessions or smithing/high alch or potion preparation into my RS habits makes me all the spending money I need and more. Currently, I'm trying to get them all to multiples of 5 lvls - I don't know why, it just seems more fun than striving for some status symbol. Great_Dane
Currently, I'm trying to get them all to multiples of 5 lvls - I don't know why, it just seems more fun than striving for some status symbol. That sounds kind of fun :-k I do it because I love my quest cape, knowing I meet the requirements (Even if I needed a spicy stew for herblore :wall: ) for any NPC task in the game. As another said up there, I like being independent and knowing I could make money in a variety of ways if I took the time.
nvw08
I like to train skills that are useful later on, like crafting, which has become my new obsession. 77 atm, easy to train, and I can watch tv or something while I'm training it, not to mention that people with 84+ crafting are in demand. 12pure34
:) I simply love, i mean :3> Runecrafting. I really do not know why, but I just enjoy it. I have made it to lvl 54 when I was F2P and I am currently using my 3 pouches to craft nature runes by the abys. I do not know why I enjoy it so much. Maybe the easy and fast money. The thrill of pkers when using the abbys. All I know is, I like it and I've spent several hours to finish Heroes Quest (needed 25 herblore to) and 1.5hours for getting the 3 pouches and which Claw of God helped me out a lot by giving me!!! a ring of wealth! (NOTE*: read the new TIPIT letters about begging and presents) I am definitly going to give him a big gift or present back! People like him .. they make runecrafting even more fun. :D And Runescape with that!
Rebdragon
Nothing. I gave up on skills a couple months ago due to the "boring" factor. I don't really need them for anything I do either, and I can easily get money from DK'ing. Nontheless, I still feel a need to get 94 Mage (and maybe train a bit of defense for CW flagholding/DK'ing), just for da SODB :P . [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series. godsfearme
I like leveling skills because you cant do most of the stuff in real life. Who has made a swords or even a dust pan out of metal. Also it is quite fun and takes longer to do than questes(done them all*f2p*) Whoot 666 post. I will shoot down any one with my bitting wit, and sarcasm! What POSSIBLE reason would someone have to make a fake like that?Does he profit from faking a picture like that? Does it help him at all?Jesus Christ, stop being so suspicious. This is Tip.it for God's sake, not RuneHQ. -_-
nightwolf06
I usually like doing quest more than anything, as you'll notice from the new rant i posted lol! But if not I usually woodcut or fish...mainly because they give good rewards, I also like slayer. Also cool to go fighting monsters I've not heard of before :3>
