its just something different, you will get use to it.

Dont be afraid. Being homealone is a good thing. It builds up responsibility and makes you feel big cause you run the house! How do you expect to move out of your parents house when you afraid of your own shadow?

Just lock all the doors, nobody will get in that way.

Just watch TV, dont think about robbers or anything.

(They see a light burning, they wont get in.)

I LOVE being home alone, a sense of more responsibility, it's thrilling lol. Not to mention you can blast your music \'

And keep an air gun close to you just in case :P

Soft air guns work too.. 8-)

Personally I love being home alone.

Also, just use some logic...that helps me.

For instance:

Why would anyone target me in particular? No one would.

Why would someone come inside MY House? No one, there is a much nicer neighborhood just a few streets over.

What's that little noise? The house settling, the heater, my cats walking on the carpet, my cats at the litter box, my cats spilling something, the water heater acting up, the computer waking up, etc. There are tons of little noises.

What was that shadow outside? Now THAT is worth taking a small look at, but if it wasn't extremely long, then you're probably fine.

If you really want, lock all the doors. Then there is NO WAY that anyone could get in your house without making a lot of noise which you would certainly hear. (or at least this should be the case depending on your house)

It's all in your head man. You'll learn in time though. :)

Most break-ins aren't targeted against any person. Just a house with valuable stuff inside.

You said it yourself - it's not a nice neighbourhood. Poorer security, fewer people to notice a break-in.

I suppose you could carry a kitchen knife with you to make yourself feel better. Then again it would probably be taken from you in a fight and used against you.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

I love being home alone also.

My neighborhood is huge. It's an 8 minute drive to get to my house. I also don't even live in the richest part. Anyone who wants to break in has made some kind of serious mistake.

We lock our doors anyway.

Nearly everyone I know at uni has had their house broken into in the last year or so, some of them twice or more.

...Have fun tonight ;)

Really.. you should do one thing each day that scares you. So just accept that it's good for you :)

Well, i carry a kitchen knife with me, but that makes me MORE scared, just looking at the knife freaks me out :ohnoes:

I'm home alone right now. I was sick today and didn't go to school. :(

I used to be like that before  When I was younger there were these cats (I didn't realize until I got older) that would rumble through our stuff in the backyard and I can hear it inside. I always thought a person made those sounds.

I love it! You have so much freedom! And I can blast music on the computer! And watch YouTube really loud, and not be told to do anything!

Me doing staff.

Just be sure to keep all windows and doors locked or closed.

Lights, or an atmosphere of there being lot of people inhabiting it, may also deter your house from being robbed.

Lights on is better than lights off.

Me? I have the same problem. I get freaked out, but i trust in the Lord that he will protect me.

I used to be home alone all the time at a young age so i'm used to it. I don't remember much but i think the way i'd deal with being scared or lonely is just to find something to do or hang with friends etc, maybe do something good for your rents like do the dishes.

Just watch America's Most Wanted next time you're home alone. You'll be so freaked out that the next time will be a snap.

When I was in middle school and I was home alone I'd leave for a bit and just stand in the road outside of the house because I was afraid to go back in because of monsters and stuff :P (I read waaaaay too many "true" ghost stories back then)

I love being in my house alone.

I love being home alone. No parents bothering me, no annoying siblings.

I love being home alone ::' I like to watch scary movies in the dark, sneak a little liquor, and sleep where ever the hell I want. When I was younger I was scared to be home alone but I've gotten much bigger and in my house you can almost always find a wepon incase someone is dumb enough to break in. Like lawrence said, just lock up the doors/windows. Personally, I like having them unlocked and wide open but seeing as how you're scared, you should probably make sure they're closed.
