Personally, I find that disgusting. You and all those others doing it. I know you've got the full right for it and you're probably 'smart' for doing it. But I don't think it's very decent. There are more than enough people that really want it and could've had it if it wasn't for people like you. I know it's only sony fanboys, so it isn't that bad as it would be with a nintendo fanboy, but still.

*Looks at the quiet EB Games next to her university.*

From what I've been reading on the news, people that aren't even INTERESTED in buying the game stood in line anyway to sell their spots to others wanting to get one... One couple got $2,500 and gave up their 49th place in the line.

Not interested in buying the PS3 myself. Plus $600... yeesh! That's like a term's worth of books for me haha.

I'm really not sure if I'd ever do this. It's extremely dangerous. I heard someone got shot over a position in line  Lots of fighting and all that. It's really scary. I remember a woman who was buying an Xbox 360 for her son, and she was threatened with a gun for the one she bought.

We had to call the cops and have a guy arrested outside of Circuit City tonight for trying to pick a fight with the guys in line. It was pretty entertaining! :P

*looks very suspicious* i do believe i remember you saying that the 'circuitcity' where you work was only going to stock 1 ps3? if thats the case, why was there a queue of people for just ONE? explain yourself! in the meantime, ill look up the quote...

edit - well the search button hasnt found me what i wanted, but it think you said it in blue's thread 'well, ps3 sales look positive', which i think has been deleted...

does anyone else remember?

A couple people got shot waiting in line I heard.

Heh, I've been getting a kick out of telling my family about all the things that were happening for the PS3. I'm going to be there at midnight for the Wii, and they all think I am going to get shot or mugged now, or go to jail for rioting. They had to shut down a Wal-Mart temporarily in California, they told the people waiting they had to wait outside, and on the way out they were destroying everything. Had to call in the police  . In New York there were 50 people waiting in line, and all of them were robbed at gun point. Fun times. Fun times.

The police had to come and break up a fight in a store here in Ottawa this morning hehe.

Some guy at the local walmart shot someone in the line. wow, ps3 is it worth it?

This whole thing was on the front page of our newspaper. There were guys camping out of Best Buy since wednesday afternoon. One guy bought one so he could afford a trip to Iceland with his college buddies

These people are disgusting.

"These people" = the bloody wagon-holes buying that ALREADY overpriced piece of junk at $15000.

They make me want to attack a baby to a jet pack and throw it into an elevator.

Haha, it doesn't surprise me. There are those few rich people, especially some kids, that couldn't care either way how much something costs, aslong as they get it.

news article about the lines. Also, I think Tim from CAD sums it up fairly well:

I'll tell you, I don't feel sorry for all the people that camped out for a PS3 and went home empty handed. If you're desperate enough for a video game that you needed to camp outside in the cold and rain for a week, you better have understood the score. However this is some really [bleep]ed up stuff. People getting shot, people beating the crap out of eachother, threatening eachother. That's messed up. Well, except for the kid that ran into the pole while racing for a PS3. He's probably just a moron.

I don't know why stores allowed people to camp out like that. That news article mentions a Best Buy in Boston that handed out tickets to the first people to show up, so they could go home and be safe and warm until the console was released. Seems to me like the smarter way to handle it. I mean, people going [developmentally delayed]ed over hot items in short supply is nothing new. Remember Tickle Me Elmo? So at this point, if we know that the public at large turns into idiotic savages over product shortages like this, shouldn't the stores step up and take some initiative? Some responsibility? Perhaps help curb the [developmentally delayed]ation before it takes hold?

Then again, I don't know. Maybe having someone get gunned down while waiting in line outside your store is just great for business.

Congratulations to anyone that survived the cold and went home with a PS3 though. Not for your ability to now play... well any of the "meh" launch titles, but because you're ****ing hardcore. Rock on.

umm.......WOW

the blu-ray drive alone cost about $800, very few consoles are overpriced if any, these companies make their money on games, not consoles. research before you speak

But a lot of those are fake, a lot of people are gonna get messed over on it with paypal scams but I dont feel one bit sorry for them.

A lot of my friends wanted the console really bad but guess who got it instead? the [wagon] holes who bought it to sell on Ebay. Good thing I preordered mine like a month ago

You've got it wrong. PS3's can be manufactured in bulk for extremely cheap prices, and then are sold to distributers for a little bit more, it's the distributers that jack up the price, based on the company that made it, how much they will have to give back, and how much the norm is.

As for the bolded line, not only was that gruesome and terrible, it made no sense what-so-ever, and was extremly irrelevant.

How ironic. Maybe you should do research before you speak:

Notice where it says Blu-Ray Optical Drive - $125.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

Uh, not that many people on eBay are buying these things. The $10,000+ sales are probably all fakes, I mean first off, most of the 'buyers' are new eBay users. Secondly, there are a bunch of sales with a $5,000 autowin...

Now please explain to my why you a prospective buyer would go from a $2,000 to $10,000 bid; especially if you can easily get one for 5,000?

The bottom line is a lot of people are pissed at the people who bought systems just to Ebay them, so they are sabotaging as many auctions as they can. Anyone with a hotmail address and a library can make a anonymous eBay account.

In fact as I look though eBay its hard to find any auction that have a bid over 3 grand and aren't fake. Even the ones around 2.6 are a bit shaky

Winning bid sold for $15,000. Just talk about...wow.

edit: link fixed

Its fraud they had a huge news story about people doing this so that other people would belive the price is acceptable. Ebay is purging huge amounts of fradulant posts like this. Noone is going to pay 15 grand no matter how bad they want the ps3

If at first you dont suceed, then you fail.

Heh, taken from Fark.com:

Back around noon central time I watched two auctions end for ps3's.

One ended at $8,000 and the other at $6,000, both from buyers with zero feedback who had accounts less than a week old. There is no way that scalping seller is going to get the money. If you have a problem with what these sellers are doing, it's the sweetest type of revenge.

The other beauty is in the fact that now the guy will have to re-list it, and there's no way that he'll get as much as he would've today, the prices are going to drop pretty steadily I think (especially since sony announced that there will be another 600,000 units shipped within 4 weeks from now).

Personally, I'm pretty sure there are actually multiple organized groups out there making a concerted effort to put in ridiculous fake bids on the majority of ps3's out of spite.
