November 22, 200619 yr This skill would be a lot better if it was easier to raise, ex. more birds, or more choices. I've been standing around for almost 45 minutes, and have gotten two measly birds. Currently P2P. I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think that they'd understand. Formerly known as: Ghstkill8, Serene Ghst, Genius Goats
November 22, 200619 yr definitely wont stop to do anything but hunting till i get that cape! (the 66 one, not 99 one :P) im interested in some1 telling us the stats
November 22, 200619 yr Author This skill would be a lot better if it was easier to raise, ex. more birds, or more choices. I've been standing around for almost 45 minutes, and have gotten two measly birds. Then quite simply, don't catch birds. That's just like farmers complaining because they're waiting for their flowers to grow without doing other things invloved. Go track until lvl 15, then catch butterflies, then trap wild kebbits, then trap those larger creatures at lvl 31. I got lvl 32 in no time at all really. Proper Daily blogging including Starcraft 2! Includes goal for 80+ all stats
November 22, 200619 yr Birds are all right if you can find the right flight path. I went from 1 to 5 on crimson swifts, 5 to 9 on golden warblers, 9 to 19 on copper longtails (had a perfect spot near the falconry fence), and 19 to 29 on tropical wagtails. 2-trapping makes the xp flow swiftly. :D From 29 to 40 or so I recommend the swamp lizards in Morytania. You can 2-trap and even 3-trap there with nets for amazingly fast xp. D 2009 Member Goals: Undetermined
November 22, 200619 yr And the butterfly increases other player atk defence str hp. i found after u get past 7 and can start killin farrets ( i know there weasles but cannot remember how to spell it to save my life) and farrets is a cooler name.. i dont find it a useless skill and didnt know about half of this..even though i was reading the knowledge base and ended up dieing while catchin birds (first one prob).. we have all done this beforeone time i woke up sleeping under my bed with a jello and a spoon lol :ohnoes:Barrow Items: 31Le MTA vous poss̮̬̉̉de baiseur de m̮̬̉̉re
November 22, 200619 yr I would have really liked to have seen people name 7 decent advantages instantly after the release of skills such as agility, firemaking, theiving and farming. If 7 benefits and the introduction of a neat fun skill isn't good enough for you, then you are quite tough to please. While I agree with the fact that hunting is far from pointless, I refuse accept the fact that a skill which generates raw gp is useless. Just pointing that out. Nice guide on leveling hunting too, after I finish my 300 mages for the day, I'll go try it. 7 months ago, shoulen m0nk lured me for everything. If you know anything about him, pm me.lol that was a good story but his eyesight must be poor... it's a well known fact that mods only drop garages on players.
November 22, 200619 yr The rainbow fish heals 11hp, cooked bird meat (you need to use an iron spit on the bird, then cook on a fire) gives 6hp, cooked beast meat (use spit again) heals 8hp. Thought someone might find that useful :)
November 22, 200619 yr Nice post i agree they are all good advantages,i personally am really enjoying this skill so far and plan on getting at least 70 in it :D
November 22, 200619 yr Anyone know if the [bleep]ed vambraces can be used with green vampraces for use in F2P wild? :|
November 22, 200619 yr You missed off: 2 new teleports 3 new areas Loads of new creatures :) In a little hilltop village they gambled for my clothesI bargained for salvation and they gave me a lethal doseI offered up my innocence, I got repaid with scorn"Come in'', she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm"
November 22, 200619 yr Yeah, another good advantage is the fact that the fishing colony is now easily accessible.
November 22, 200619 yr Oh, and honestly, you don't need the swamp tar bait. I've tried both for at least a few levels each and have not seen much of a difference. It seems the same with or without, and the slow collecting in Lumbridge Swamps makes it not really worth it. Save the ground herbs for ammo. ;)
November 22, 200619 yr You cna see the skills cape there(note that the image comes with all 3 capes on it), wonder what the animation will look like tho! ~IronM~
November 22, 200619 yr I like the realism, u need a butterfly net AND an empty jar to catch them, u can bait traps and remove ur scent. and u have to wake up like 5 in the morning to get a good hunting spot.
November 22, 200619 yr all that plus you get to wear this fancy smanchy cape *note that is the trimmed version* Sigh, only 8 more days to hopefully getting membership back <the49ronin> O_o methinks ard is acting mighty high and pretty -.- <Ard_Choille> I am pretty <Ard_Choille> fo shizzle
November 22, 200619 yr Yes i can see some ok benifits from doing hunting but it in no way will make you any money or help you in fighting except for the salamaders maybe but who the hell wields a animal for a weapon?
November 23, 200619 yr not sure about the glove is tradable or not but since the harpoon, cape, vembrace and the salamanders can be traded, they arent really benefits from training hunting... just like rune kites and 2hs, all you need is the money, not the levels Examine ChenGMT (level: 138)
November 23, 200619 yr not sure about the glove is tradable or not but since the harpoon, cape, vembrace and the salamanders can be traded, they arent really benefits from training hunting... just like rune kites and 2hs, all you need is the money, not the levels You need to have a certain hunter level to equip the capes and the gloves. So if you don't train hunting you can have them, but you can't use them.
November 23, 200619 yr I officialy love hunter, for one reason. Cheap whips. That's with the melee mode ;) It can probably hit higher as I only had 37 hp when he hit that on me. With Range the max I could hit was a 24, although I'm sure you can hit higher than that, and mage was about 23 but I'm sure that's higher too. This is the ultimate pking weapon will own noobs at MB.
November 23, 200619 yr Thx for the pic Dark dude, were you potted/ praying at that moment? Looks great.
November 23, 200619 yr I was the one getting koed =( But yeah, he was potted and I believe he was praying too. Wouldn't be surprised if it could hit 40.
November 23, 200619 yr I heard it hits from 1 square away, like a halberd, so while it's not exactly a long range, it has a bit of range (like hitting on someone frozen without getting hit back :P). Is that right?
November 23, 200619 yr It can attack diagonaly. which is 1 square away, otherwise you have to be standing next to them I believe.
November 23, 200619 yr Skip ahead to to the last paragraph if you don't want to read this much. "Skill benefit" means different things to different people. I define it as something that helps train other skills, which includes money made from the skill. This means that the only benefits hunter has for me are the gloves of silence, spottier capes, and the new teleports that came with hunter's release. I'm curious about how much damage salamanders and chinchompas can do, but no matter how much it is I don't think I'll want to fuel my weapon with herbs. Construction doesn't have many outward benefits either, especially when the cost is factored in. I didn't plan to entertain at my house so I don't have any of those rooms (combat, games, throne, dungeon, etc). That leaves the benefits of spell tablets, chapel training, teleport portals and a few more odds and ends. One of the most useful things to me in construction is "teleport to house", which only takes level 1 like the new fairy rings. Farming also has few benefits. I've found growing my own herbs to be very helpful, but aside from that nearly all other farming benefits only help in very slight, exact situations. Super poison is a nice benefit, but farming really only increased poison damage from 4 to 6. Also, the poison is more a herblore reward than farming reward in some ways. To sum up: from a purely practical view, the latest skills haven't been very useful. Does that matter? NOT AT ALL. If you enjoy training skills it doesn't matter what you get from it. This is a game, after all, and you should enjoy playing it all the time, not just when you reach certain points. Despite the shortage of rewards, my farming and construction are 80+ anyway because I enjoyed the process. I'm playing a different genre right now, but when I start playing RS more often I'll probably enjoy hunter as well.
