i was watching tv the other night and i saw that World of Warcraft made a commercial advertising there Online game and it got me thinking.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Runescape is More than a hit its a HUGE success, i know it has over 850,000 (Eight hundred and fifty thousand) Paying Players so i wonder. Why doesn't Jagex pay for a Small & Short TV Commercial? so heres what i ask you guys. Should jagex Advertise its game to the next level On Tv? or should it just stick to the small internet advertisement like it is now.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think they should Advertise the Benefits of Membership on tv And the game itself.

Runescape doesn't really have any great graphics to show off, unless they hax like they do on some pics in the KB :3>, it's just cheap and easily accessible.

One of my thoughts exactly but you can "Exaggerate" can't you? Warcraft did. they had one of the mini-clips of it showing bad az graphics and actuall game footage. so graphics won't be a big issue i am sure jagex can improvise :-)

Yes i can see that as a downside to this idea. but hey eventually there always will be new lil kids. so it doesn't really make a difference

Yeah it has its advantages and it's disadvantages but i think it would be cool to see a Runescape Commercial.

Yeah, like the average 9 year old's IQ isn't low enough without playing runescape... :roll:

Well, companies like Microsoft still advertise their products. The amount of bling bling a company has doesn't have much impact on the advertising aspect. (The only factor money does play is how much of it the company is willing to use for advertising.) And they wouldn't be sleeping in $5 bills, they'd be sleeping in pounds. :P

from my oppinion i think they'd advertise on cartoon network or nickelodeon, but why exactly they would advertise on TV if it has 850.000 players, its odvious atleast some of them will spread the word to other people, jagex will just waste money to get more f2pers

Actually I've noticed lots of f2pers are very firm about not paying for it... its as if they don't want to get 'sucked into it', so to speak, but I just think of it as a regular cost of having fun, like going the cinema or something.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On topic: This would probably be a very good investment for Jagex, miniclip advertising alone was good for them. I, and many other players would hate the huge increase in the already underaged unsophisticated community.

It's a really bad idea. N00B populations would rise dramatically, little kids would play without any permission, lots of parents and Christians ranting! Alot of people saying that it is satanic or pagan, and that it's bad for children! And, most important of all... think of all the chavs! EDIT:And, to Coolgirl, what garantees they will become members some day? I've some friends I met from when I first started to play. They are all Free Players, and they tell me that they don't plan on becoming Members...

mama mia! oooo no no no no :anxious: very bad. i think most people would look at that ad and think it was some internet geek game and it was weird as hell. i'm not surprised wow had a commercial, they have really, really, really good graphics for a web based game. and warcraft is like the 2nd best selling game after the sims 2. but runescape? dear god no...

Maybe advertise on G4TV?? Anyone think of that? All the geeky 35 year old guys watch it. It'll suck then into the sensation :)

However I don't think advertising members would be the way to go. Just advertising the game as free would get a lot more people to check it out, and the people who check out the free version would then be tempted to get the expansion of membership.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It's common marketing. You don't advertise what you really want, just what'll really catch their attention and lure them to the final catch.

They could of course make (internet) radio commercials, to overcome the problem of outdated graphics.

If they were to start commercially advertise on TV, then they would most likely have to double the amount (or even more) of the current world servers. :?
