Just because people want 85, it doesn't necessarily mean they want a profit. I find slayer a fun skill to train. The common drops are pretty good. Yes, the drop rates are about 1 in 500, but then again, why do people go for the d chain from dust devils? the drop rate for those are 1 in 10,000! I doubt its even worth the time, unless you can kill dust devils super efficiently.

Its better than no lifing at bandits or pest control.

It's still a big accomplishment? And also many now plan to go much further in anitcipation for new slayer items/monsters, and 85 is a good starting point.

2mil a whip is greater than most of the drop you get from TRAINING on any other creature (you dont go to KQ, Chaos elem..or dag kings to get xp...you go there for the drops)

I have the same reason as these 2.. Once i get a whip from them i would PK with it, or just collect them or something. Seeing as they are not a very rare drop. It would be useful and a nice stat to have.

It's still good exp. The whip drops are just a bonus. A 1/1000 chance of getting a drop worth 2M is still better than most monsters.

Like you said whats the point of getting 85 slayer?....whats the point of getting 99 fletching, firemaking, prayer, herb, mining, agility, woodcutting, thieving, crafting, cooking, fishing, hunting. You don't really get anything special for 99 in it....but there are 7,486 people with 99 fletch and I don't see you complaining about that.

 

 

 

I believe he's referring to the fact that people are still aiming for 85 Slayer from low levels, which is a total waste of time. Even with all the time spent into getting 85 the low price of Whips makes it less of a profit then Abyss crafting, which takes basically no input of effort to do in comparison to the months of "no lifing" for 85 Slayer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And really don't think your making a ton of money with your 57 runecrafting. Only people that are making a ton of money off runecrafting are 75+ people and the 91+ people like myself.

Look at the bolded stuff, useful. Def pot to help you out while killing them? Abyssal Whip, not worth as much as it used to be, but 1.9m-ish from a drop sounds nice to me. Someone said runecrafting is faster. True, but isn't it eaiser to stand in a room killing demons than it is to run back and forth from bank to alter? I think so. (Don't need if you pray I guess) I counted 42 things that it drops there. 32 of them being possibly useful, maybe even more (talismans) 32/42, what percent is that? 76%, thats a pretty good percent of useful stuff if you ask me.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Last point I have (for now): Experiance. This one I'm not 100% on, as I said before, I am 76 slayer, so I don't know, so bear with me here. Go up there with some Guthan's, and Torag/whip/obby shield, or dharok and prayer (risky, but i've seen people doing it) are they decent experiance?

For some people its not about the money

I could care less about cash and therefore i don't train skills to make cash out of them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If i ever train slayer then it would be to get 99 and not to get 85 and stop training and start killing abby demons. I probably would get a whip drop now and then but that would just be something i get and not aim for :oops:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So yea i just train it for total lvls mainly

I remember getting 85 slayer and selling them for around 25 mil easily. Sometimes it would take days to get a whip and some days it would be as easy as 4 whips within 2 hours.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But anyways I'm going for 90 slayer to try out the new monsters and maybe more because Jagex may realize a higher slayer lvl monsters with nice drops.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Besides slayer is fun if you want to raise your combat skills but getting 85 and stopping just to get whips is pointless.

You do know that the first whip was sold for 20mil, right? Yet you could easily sell them for 25, assuming you got it in the first few days

lol you just don't want ppl to get 85 slayer cause they will ruin your market :P

 

 

 

anyway it's a nice achievement to get 85 slayer and u can make some money with it if u are a little lucky. and some ppl are just combat freaks...

i like slayer, and therefore it would have been fun to get 85... not only for whips, but because that is a great thing to do... or 90, beeng able to kill every single monster in the game...

1) They are nice to train on with a possibility of Whip. Not small possibility though. I could ask you - why people camps at Dusties? They got even smaller chance of Chain.
