Why people still trying to get slayer 85? :-\

Autist

Recommended Posts

Hello tip.it people.... My ingame name is Autist, a level 117 warrior with 99 92 99 stats... Anyway, i want to discuss the reasons why people still want slayer 85...

Before you ask, yes, i am above slayer 85, actually 88...

The goal of getting slayer 85 has existed since whips started to cost a lot...

For years people have driven themselves to get that nice level...

My question is:

Why do still people want slayer 85?

Can't they understand, that it's almost pointless nowadays?

Whip drop rate is apporx. 1 per 500-1000 abyssal demons... It may vary.

Whips cost about under 2 mil.

I can't just see, why they want it... I dont regret getting slayer 85... Whips were 4-5m each back then, but now.... Blah.

Do they really think that they will become rich, sitting upstairs of the slayer tower?

Plain stupidity, if you ask me... Making nats is even faster cash.

Please, discuss, why are people doing that. :S

I remember getting 85 slayer and selling them for around 25 mil easily. Sometimes it would take days to get a whip and some days it would be as easy as 4 whips within 2 hours.

But anyways I'm going for 90 slayer to try out the new monsters and maybe more because Jagex may realize a higher slayer lvl monsters with nice drops.

Besides slayer is fun if you want to raise your combat skills but getting 85 and stopping just to get whips is pointless.

rs name is da same

but getting 85 and stopping just to get whips is pointless.

Thats my point indeed. I can understand the people who aim higher, for 90, like me... But just to camp for ages in there.... Uhhh...

Well you could always ask why people play at all? Personally I play for fun. Making vast amounts of money does not appeal to me, I'll never be able to afford a rare, and I just spend all my money on skills like herblore and construction.

Another point is that Slayer is one of the ultimate unbuyable skills like agility. It takes a long time to get xp, you cant get people to help you (like rc) and the xp is very slow. Therefore, a high slayer level is like a status symbol, it shows the time that you have put into the game, and shows that you are capable of killing tough high level monsters. I still train slayer in the knowledge that if/when I get to 85, whips will be super cheap and there will be better weapons out, but it doesnt diminish my fun of levelling the skill.

i want 85 slayer by next year.

It will be fun, being able to get my own gear to pk ands tuff

Same reason as above. So I can afford to pk with whips.

You do realize, that you don't have to use what you make? If you merchant, stake or use dagganoth kings you can sell what you make or keep it for the instance of staking, and buy the whips  It's much faster cash IMHO but if you really wanna get full rune by killing slayer monsters, or full mystic by killing monsters, then be my guest. Go ahead, if you don't....Why do it for whips?

Getting a whip even once every 3 hours still means 600k per hour, which is still the best money making skill except for 91+ runecrafting, not too mention all the other drops.

People also like to train their skills for their skill total, too.

Because whips are worth 2m.. Getting one from a drop is just one of the fastest way to get the money for one. He never said he waned to get other supplies from monster drops, but getting whips from drops is just an easy way to get them.

I did it because it's the most fun way to train combat. Otherwise it gets boring to just camp at one monster for ages....

I also did it because I wanted to train several levels while training combat, so it helped my skill total.

Oh yeah, and I wanted an abyssal head....I got 2 within the first 40 minutes of killing them. :)

ability to obtain 1, if not the best weapon in the game for free should be an amazing incentive... being able to get your whip back for free if u lose it some how is a big incentive.

i dunno i gave up on slayer after lvl 80... nechs are good to me, i get rune boots every super set or less some times 2-3 pairs between a super set. and the herbs seeds are nice and the rune helms i alch for repair costs...

A Slayer cape is sexy.

Because the cape is sexy, Slayers get chicks.

My sexy guide in the archive of wisdom makes leveling easy.

Many Slayer monsters drop level 3 clue scrolls, which with the addition of the 3rd age Armours makes slayer very lucrative again.

Any potential expansion of the skill you will be ready to profit from.

Variety in training.

Meet new and exciting monsters...

...And kill them.

I agree with Axe Man, I'm 92 Slayer close to 93 now, I just love the skill, don't see any reason to stop at 85 just to camp for whips. Plus training with the Black Mask is pretty much the fastest exp there is unless offcourse Pest Controlling with 110+ teams, but that ain't fun  .

I usually get a whip every 1.5k abyssals... And thats alot more than 3 hours. :S

Well 85 slayer is well worth it. Abyssals are an amazing monster to train on for higher levels, their max hit is 8 (dharoking) and are relitively easy to heal on with guthans. Tho most people only a get a whip every day or second day the other drops are still worth it. I barely ever leave them without 200k in alchs and some halfkeys. Also there is the fact that at peak times, you can still manage to find a decent server to train on.

With the new clues out abyssals have become popular again since they drop clues aswell. A couple people I have talked to there have gotten 3rd age armour off these clues :D

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

I realise that runecrafting is better money, but it's also extremely boring.

At least with Abyssals, I can click and forget (do some forum browsing, chat with friends whatever...)

With RC, you have to pay attention and the experience is very slow.

There's also the possible release of dragon boots, dragon full helm etc... those will most likely be dropped by very high level slaying monsters. So I want lvl 95 slaying.

I will be sticking with Slaying for the time being.

If you really wanna click and forget you could try bandits <3: That place rocks! When I get bored of PC I go to bandits in Torags, Obby shield etc..and they barely hit. 85 Slayer would be fun to have. I think of it as more of an achievement. 91 Slayer more for money making purposes. ::'

I just happen to like the skill. I get so tired of 85+ slayers trying to discourage others to get 85 as well.

Regardless of the whips, I find slayer a rather lucrative skill, even at my level (76) with the drops and lvl 3 clues. It gets me lots of herbs and seeds (I'm an addict farmer/herblorist) and combat training. I'm aiming to max out combat through slayer (in a year or 10 :XD:)

Also, if you combine said skills (farming, herblore, slayer), you can get the necessary potions at no cost to tackle some of the tougher monsters such as steel dragons. Let me repeat this: at no cost! I rake in rune stuff whenever I get metal dragons as a task, even an occasional dragon drop. Not profitable? Not fast training? Perhaps not if profit and/or speed are your only goal, but I'm quite pleased with my RS income 8-)

And yes, rc or fletching may get you more money, but they also happen to be deadly boring skills.
