Why people still trying to get slayer 85? :-\

Featured Replies

yes, i also see 85 slayer as an achievement rather than a way to make cash.

I also find it a good structured way to train combat as i was never any good at killing one monster ad infinitum. It may not be the quickest, but being told what to do is so much easier sometimes :)

anyways, bout another month of slaying til 85...

Getting a whip even once every 3 hours still means 600k per hour, which is still the best money making skill except for 91+ runecrafting, not too mention all the other drops.

People also like to train their skills for their skill total, too.

It's much faster cash IMHO but if you really wanna get full rune by killing slayer monsters, or full mystic by killing monsters, then be my guest. Go ahead, if you don't....Why do it for whips?

Because whips are worth 2m.. Getting one from a drop is just one of the fastest way to get the money for one. He never said he waned to get other supplies from monster drops, but getting whips from drops is just an easy way to get them.

ya thats basically the other part of the reason for me...and its a status symbol

ill only be camping out there for 1 whip of my own as a result of the low prices of whips now

i made a vow to never use a whip till i recieved one as a monster drop and i plan on sticking to it :XD:

Well i was like 2000th or so to get it :S So i made alot of money of it, got 90 slayer for some time now. I got it because I liked the skill

2000+ total

99 attack - str - def - hp - range - mage - prayer - cooking

Why you ask?

Because: Whips are still free cash :D and a set of like 10 whips is always good, even if they are 100k cash.

And killing those Abbies is fun( I guess :P) and maybe go for a head. And last, 85 slayer is a good stat to have, and you gotta train it anyway some day. (unless you want to be 1 slayer for ever)

ok genius.

1) not buying your own whips owns.

2) slayer is the only way I can stand to train boring melee, so I've decided to slay while I max, and its financed it nicely, (prayer aint' cheap)

3) any nub can pc till max. wow there are alot of no skill high lvls that are clueless on the game itself aren't there?

4) d boots pl0x.

get off your duff and go slay. ;)

126 combat. 2001 total. 101 prayer. and off to go WoWin.

WHEEE NO MORE RANDOMS!!!! -.-

well i train slayer as i think it gives some very good variety to just spending all day at pest control. Personally i am 35k from 77 at 105 combat and very proud of it

I am not going for 85 but for a task i think a few abbysal demons wouldn't be bad.

I only train slayer because it gives me the chance to kill different monsters, instead of training on the same monster all the time. I'm not really aiming for 85 slayer, nor I'm I bothered to.

No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.

i want 85 slayer by next year.

It will be fun, being able to get my own gear to pk ands tuff

Same reason as above. So I can afford to pk with whips.

You do realize, that you don't have to use what you make? If you merchant, stake or use dagganoth kings you can sell what you make or keep it for the instance of staking, and buy the whips  It's much faster cash IMHO but if you really wanna get full rune by killing slayer monsters, or full mystic by killing monsters, then be my guest. Go ahead, if you don't....Why do it for whips?

Cause whips cost almost 2mil

Runescape is a game. Games should be fun. Variety is fun. Profit is also fun. Slayer brings variety and profit to combat training, therefore slayer is fun.

Your silly bandits can beat my xp rate per hour (,I range almost everything nowadays anyway), but I will be alot less bored with the game, I will get better drops, and I will have high combat capability as well as a nice shiny skill level to show for it.

By the time I'm 85 slayer whips will be almost pointless, so that's not my incentive. By all means, stop training slayer if you want to, but don't question other peoples' reasons. Not everyone wants to camp for whips, you know.

- Pfft, my goals are FAR too "fluid" (ie. I have ADD) to be recorded in my sig.

For fun?

damn pixel lovers.

Is 85 Slayer not a great level to have? It shows you have patience and persistance. The money is cool too :P
sig5235ro7.jpg

For the same reason other people get theirs to 65 and camp at dusties; good xp + nice drops. Abbys are like dust devils x3. They actually have drops you know you will probally get one of per day if not more, instead of a drop you would be lucky to get from weeks of training there that isn't really worth it anyway.

clues, alchable stuff, training, whips, fun

plus its not the lvl 85 thats fun, i feel that getting to 85 slayer was alot of fun...plus i made about 10m from drops already, and im only 79 slayer

its an achievement

plus its better training through slayer tasks over camping at dusties at 65 slayer.....me personally

Some people want 85 slayer just for the level, not to kill Abyssals. One of my friends decided to get 85 slayer and when I tried to talk him out of it, he said that he waned it because higher levels are 'expected' to have it and he wanted to meet that expectation. Either way, I still think it's a waste of time, unless you're leveling slayer to get all skills 85+ or something

Some people want it because they want to train combat without the use of PC. What better way to get xp than camping out at Abbys and earn a couple million while you're at it. Not a bad idea, I suppose, but from what I've heard they're not the best form of xp.

Best XP/Money ratio in the game, simple as.

If I want to make money while training combat I'll kill abyssal demons, Made 6M from one trip the other day (Of about 200 demons) so it's not as if It's bad money. And with the new clues you can get lucky and make a few million off them.

I'm not even 85 slayer and I kill abyssals all the time. After I've finished using my current pies (150 left or so) I'll be getting 85, but that won't be until some time next year.

For the fun of it. I am going for 99 slayer just because I love the skill.

The drops are a bonus only to me.

queenvalerie.png

Slayer is my favorite skill. Got to 85 last christmas, spent 2 weeks killing abbys then moved on to other skills. Went back to slayer last summer and i plan on getting it to at least 95 in the months to come. Currently 100k away from 91.

Runescape is not all about money, sure the economy is a big part of the game, but i hate seeing people focussing only on that part...

All i hear is: get 91 rc, get 85 slayer, do clues, kill green dragons...

What i say is basically this: like the skill ? do it... don'T like it? skip it

I'm not 85 slayer, but I'm actually gettin ready to get it up so............ but dude did you ever think that mayb people raised the skill for fun???? not every1 worships money. :wall: -.-

finally back in the game! send me a message, all my old friends quit

I laughed so hard I pooped my thong.

My question is:

Why do still people want slayer 85?

Can't they understand, that it's almost pointless nowadays?

Plain stupidity, if you ask me... Making nats is even faster cash.

First off....who really cares about what you think....just to get that out of the way. If they want 85 slayer let them get it. I myself am 88 slayer and will someday get it to 99. Like you said whats the point of getting 85 slayer?....whats the point of getting 99 fletching, firemaking, prayer, herb, mining, agility, woodcutting, thieving, crafting, cooking, fishing, hunting. You don't really get anything special for 99 in it....but there are 7,486 people with 99 fletch and I don't see you complaining about that.

And really don't think your making a ton of money with your 57 runecrafting. Only people that are making a ton of money off runecrafting are 75+ people and the 91+ people like myself.

133rd to 91 runecrafting. 212th to 99 runecrafting - 145th to 99 construction

im going for 85 slayer (when i get there ill train other skills a bit then go back to slayer till 99). There are several reasons why im doing this:

1) for fun, slayer is my favourite skill

2) for money, sure whips are dropping, but they are still 1.7-1.8 mil, slayer monsters also drop a lot of rune items and clues (i can sometimes get 3 level 3 clues per assignment), and other unique drops *cough* rune boots *cough*

3) total level, as most people do, i want to max out all skills, why not start with the toughest ?

4) the achievement: 99 slayer, as well as 85 are both great achievements

5) combat training: i personally hate trsining combat on its own, you just camp at a monster for a long time, while with slayer you move a lot, it surely isnt as fast exp as pest control, but its good enough for me and im also leveling one of the hardest skills in game

6) the overlap with other skills: personally i enjoy rasising (or helping to raise more than one skill at a time, lets see the skills i train (or help to train) with slayer

slayer (obviously)

attack (obviously)

strength (obviously)

defence (obviously)

hp (obviously)

range (obviously)

prayer (from assignment bones)

magic (monsters drop a lot of runes and alchable items, as well as you being able to mage them)

farming (all the seed drops)

herblore (all herb, seconds and herb seeds drops)

crafting (cutting and making items out of drops, especially gems and hides)

fletching (making you own arrows to range monsters with, or making bolt tips out of gems)

fishing (catching your own food)

cooking (cooking your own food)

runecrafting (from essence dropped by some monsters)

thats 15 skills your training

7) also most high level slayers are very nice people and so it is a chance to make some good online friends

still need more motivation ?

I bet he is slaying tons of abbies right now hoping he discourages at least one of you to the point you stop slaying so he can keep selling whips for as much as possible.

I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete.
So, what is 1.111... equal to?

10/9.

Please don't continue.

Because the cape is sexy, Slayers get chicks.

Hmm what evidence do you have to support such a bold statement?

The self-proclaimed king of bronze.

I respect a high level in slayer more than any other skill. You can't buy your way to lvl 85 and u have to go thru lots of tough critters to get that high level. Right now I am level 65 and people respect that more than my lvl 92 combat.

mbrun.gif

Barrows Drops: Guthan's platelegs and War Spear, Dharok's plate body and Great Axe, Verac's Flail, Verac's Helm x 2, Ahrim's top, Dharok's plate legs

Dragon Drops: Medium Helm x 4, Shield Left Half, plate legs x 2, skirt x 2.

I personally, would get 85 slayer to train on demons, then all of the special drops would be an added bounus when trianing, wouldnt you love to make 2 mill while jsut training?

cause it hot maybe?

i train slayer cause camping at just one monster is kinda boring plus i like whips they hot so why not eventually kill to get another hot whip. Plus if you want a few attack levels or something why not kill something that has chance of a almost 2m drop item
