And more SDR news: With some help from my friend who shares my interest in "Science!", I have been planning the new and improved Death Ray 2TM! He's found a supply of lots of mirrors, and construction should begin in March. I've done all the math, and if all goes well, DR2 will have at least 200 mirrors, each 2-inch square. If we manage to use a full 8 foot X 8 foot sheet of plywood, we will be able to have over 700 mirrors! That's really shiny!

this death ray isnt supposed to work. on that wierd science show 'mythbusters' the host made on of those deathray's about 5 times bigger than yours and tried to burn a boat up. it didnt work. apparently archimiedes used it to fend off an invading army.

I rember using my grandads magnifyer(sp) glass. I set a tree on fire, good thing we had water. Though my brothers eyes got screwed so we had to wear two pairs of sun glasses each.

On MythBusters, they were trying to burn a wet, moving boat that was over 100 feet away, using bronze mirrors. I'm burning a dry, still object that's 3 feet away, using glass mirrors.

I think that to make it more powerful is just make it bigger, or make more smaller mirrors to fit in the gaps.

Mizand, that wouldn't work unless you added smoke, as you cannot see light unless it reflects off something. If you did it your way you would only see a red dot on each of the posts. If you added smoke though, the laser would reflect off the smoke particles into your eye and you would see it.
