Why do people hate Runescape?

I was looking on random YouTube video's of runescape. I scroll down to the comments and every other comment is "Runescape SUCKS!!!!" "worst game ever!!!!!" "WoW rules!!!!" but I dont really understand this at all.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I notice the same thing on Gamespot and other various gaming forums. It seems the only place that actually likes runescape in the slightest is the runescape community...

It's because they look at it and think OMG THOSE GRAPHICS ARE HORRIBLE I PLAY BETTER GAMES ON MY GRAPHING CALCULATOR, WOW is LEET ALL YOU NOOB HACKERS. Pretty much like that.

runescape has always been on of the easter egg games, not that well known really, but its really good, most people just blow it off as another bad java game with bad graphics, but once people start playing the game they realize how good the game actully is and start to play it more

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

such as people will buy the mada (spelling sorry) football games becasue of the graphics and the brand name, but most people dont play it that much becase they are like "this isn't that great, just like the like 100 they made"

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

its the content of runescape which makes its it such a great game with over atlest 200k accounts active during the day

Probably because it doesn't have the best graphics in the world, but hey, graphics aren't everything.

I like Runescape because it's a MMORPG that I can play on a Web Browser while doing other things, like AIM, Moewrok, iTunes, and of course post on Tip.it 8-)

i guess i see what you mean. I cant personally see a draw to WoW. I have played wow, twice, and I could write a huge list of things i didnt like/that runescape has better.

if you like gameplay/depth to your gaming experience play runescape

well thats the thing. It IS popular. Thats why people pay attention to it (negative attention). I read somewhere that it has almost the same paying member count as WoW does.

I get the embarrassed feeling telling that I play Runescape as well. I think it's because they would make fun of you, bad social life, etc. But screw them I'm going home to play where my real friends are/

They also think it's nerdy. And WoW is just as nerdy as RS. Doesn't really make sense to me. I've been playing Runescape for about 2 years now, and it's still fun. Any game THAT fun shouldn't be called "the worst game ever".

People who say that are just adrenaline-pumped teenagers that canÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t get past the graphics and admittedly very simple combat system. Since all they care about is combat, they donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t even look into the other aspects of the game. I say if those kids like the PvP and graphics of Warcraft so much, then they can go play that. But if you like a PvP system where you actually have something to LOOSE (you loose nothing in Warcraft when you die), RuneScape is the way to go ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ for that and for stuff beyond swordplay, battle magic, and those sorts of things.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Another thing I see them complaining about is the horrible communityÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ such things like people asking to be your boy/girl friend, beggars, ect. - obviously they are talking about the free version of the game. Well, if they are willing to pay for Warcraft, and not for RuneScape, then why are they complaining about the community? Imagine what Warcraft would be like if it were free ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ almost exactly like what RuneScape F2P is - probally worse because of how 'pretty' the game is.

Yea. People are way too hung up on graphics, so WoW ends up being the 'cool' game for nerds to play.

That's exactly it. In RS pking it's not like FPS where 5 second shooting adrenaline rush. Pking can last for hours, well trips, and you're going for broke. Action games you die, press restart, RS you die you lose everything and have to gain the cash back you got to wield.wear the items you used. I think it's a much bigger adrenaline rush IMO. That's why I think there are a ton of pures being created everyday.

ya people hate it because of the grapics and they dont actually like it for the storyline and gameplay..(of course members are basicly the only people that can get deep in the story line..) but there gettin monster and area graphic updates..

My friend was raving about WOW, so I went and downloaded it for the 10-day free trial...I played it for 3 or 4 days before I got bored and went back to runescape. It's got very nice graphics, and once you get into a clan it could have very engaging combat (I got bored before then though), but still, RS is about so much more than combat...I've played rs for slightly over 4 years now, and I don't see myself quitting anytime soon, that's how good it is. Any comparison in these stupid videos on YouTube is bound to leave WOW the winner, because on the surface it's a much better game, however when all you see is a (biased) few minutes, the dominating factor is obviously going to be the graphics.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, I like the fact that I can play rs wherever I am, with no download (unless the comp is missing java, then I do a quick java download), whereas a game like WOW has hefty system requirements.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Based on all the "Runescape sucks" comments I've seen by WOW players, I've come to believe that a lot more immature people play WOW as well. During my few days of trying it, some guy got mad at me, and, when I beat him like 3x in a row when he dueled me, he decided to kill the monster I needed to kill for a quest over and over so I couldn't complete the quest. That would be impossible in Runescape, which is just another thing it has over games like WOW.

WoW is a a really nice looking, expensive candy in a really nice wrapper that doesn't have much substance to it, and only keeps its flavor for a few seconds.

 

 

 

RuneScape is a homemade candy that doesn't have a fancy wrapper, or have advertising, but is still largely popular; but only to those who have tried it. Those who haven't tried it look down on it as a lowbrow product that is for people who can't afford the better one.

Really, most people put RuneScape down because of hype, and from playing f2p for all of three seconds. WoW has a ton of hype and some advertisement, which makes people think straight off that it's better than anything out there.

Everyone here is right. Everyone that plays WoW thinks that it's so much better than RS. Just because it has good graphics, doesn't mean it's good. I find that WoW lacks the community (especially the Tip.it community) that Runescape has.

 

 

 

WoW is simply killing over and over. Sure, there's some strategy involved, but that's it. However, in Runescape, there's more than just pk'ing. You have to know the guy's weaknesses, you have to anticipate his next move, etc...Also, when you die, you don't just respawn and go off killing again as if nothing happened; you have to make your money back and try to realize what you did wrong and attempt to improve your skills.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I could go on...but I'd rather not. Anyways, that's my arguement. -.-

If you wanna know what MMo is better Runescape or WoW I got lvl 60 in warcraft with some pretty good gear in about 3 months and got bored.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After just under 4 years of runescape i still don't have a skill to 99 and i just now got lvl 90 combat.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I still go back to warcraft occasionally for the Pvp because Wow DOES have the best Pvp of ANY mmo.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As for why they say runescape sucks its not only because of the Graphics. Think about it. people who play warcraft mostly started out as gamesite arcade players. they see runescape on miniclip and try it they are really dumb so they can't get through tutorial island so they say wow this game sucks. you have to remember a good majority of everyone posting runescape sucks are like noobs in runescape so nooby they couldn't get through tutorial island lol.
