Why do people hate Runescape?

Agreed. I'm quite confident that most of the negative comments towards Runescape are based on first impressions (many times relating to the graphics).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Or some people may just not like certain aspects of the game. Maybe it's not "violent" enough for them, or like games with more pvp fighting interactions. There are tons of others I could throw out there, but I think you get the point :P

I'm pretty sure it's mostly first impression of graphics.. RS vs WoW in terms of graphics is like SNES vs XBOX. Also most browser games are quick time wasters that are coded in flash (for wasting time @ work lol), you can't really tell the depth of RS until you play it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I use to say the same things when i saw my fiancee playing, then she told me it was coded in Java and ran entirely off the web browser.. so having programmed in Java and knowing how many lines of codes goes into one small function I gave it a go. Now she always reminds me of all the things i said ^^.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sometimes I log on at work and my colleagues are always like 'WTF is that?? Pokemon?' Doesn't bother me. :-w

Theres a UK advert at the moment advertising WoW and they seem to pride themselves on having 7 million accounts.

 

 

 

I've played the 10 day WoW trial and it was....ok. It's true, you can max out on Wow WAY to easily, on my second 10 day trial (we won't go there) I got a priest to above level 40 with a level 60 cap!

 

 

 

My friends have all gone to 360s and when I ask why they try to make me get one they only have graphics over RS.

 

 

 

I wrote a small review of RS on Gamespot to see what reaction I got, from players of RS i appeard pretty much accurate with a good review but from 'haters' it was as ever...about graphics really.

Why does everyone compare WoW and runescape? What about GW. GW > WoW Kay? Anyway people like graphics and will stupidly play a cheesy cartoony game just because it looks a little bit better. I personally play runescape because I've ran out of things to do on GW :(.

Well it's a pity, that a game with such a depth to the storyline is dismissed due to the graphics, I mean come on for a Java coded game the graphics are amazing.

I've been browsing YouTube for so long, and there are comments that people don't like the video because what it contains sucks.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Seriously, I haven't played WoW so I can't judge. You really shouldn't take it too seriously, I like the graphics. The GTA games are great too, they have better graphics, but like other people said graphics isn't everything.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Remember that on YouTube, it's impossible to upload a video without getting rude comments, unless of course you delete them or only allow nice comments.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Don't take YouTube too seriously, everything can get bad rates, even the best videos got some bad comments saying "This sucks".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Same goes to Gamespot and other websites with a lot of games.

I enjoyed RS the most as MMORPG because it is one of the few games that has something other than Kill, copy paste, and has a good enough community that for me to stay on. I couldnt even play CS:S long enough because of the abuse ppl hurl at each other in the game

I think many people who try Runescape for their first time might be put off by the F2P community. I know every time I journey into F2P to meet a friend, all the attitudes of the players cause me to question the condition of the game.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The game (And its community) is a lot better in P2P, and I can see how any newcomer might condemn Runescape because of immature people on the free servers.

well thats the thing. It IS popular. Thats why people pay attention to it (negative attention). I read somewhere that it has almost the same paying member count as WoW does.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Although if I recall, for the most part you have to pay to play World of Warcraft, Period. There is no free version or trial version (maybe a 30 day one at that), but for Runescape, there's the option to play for no money for AS LONG AS YOU WANT. Given, there's alot more features available to members but there's no warning that says "Buy members or your account will be deleted."

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yeah, before you can even create an account on WoW, you have to pay for stuff. So to the comment about "same number of paying members," that's advantage to Runescape because we have millions of free players AS WELL AS our paying members.

Alot of the people think that because you play an MMORPG, you have no life and are some fat 40 year-old guy in his mom's basement.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For example, I was talking to a guy on MSN. Take note that I'm 100 times the athlete he is, and I'm also smarter. He asks me what I'm doing, I say runescape. He says nerd. This guy has no real social life, and plays NO sports. He pretty much spends his life browsing the internet, and downloading music.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So, I'm a nerd for getting good grades, being a good athlete, and playing runescape? People are so blind.

the communty doesnt suck, its just that you have to look in the right places, and I guess at face value (first impressions) it would suck.

ehh, i play guild wars, and i have to say honestly guildwars is more fun then runescape when it comes to graphics, along with depth, but i'll never say anything bad directly about runescape, i enjoy the game, loathe combat, the community out of tip.it could be nicer (soo much flaming, noobs, overpricers, hackers, people luering, and such) but skilling, it cant be beat, i dont know anyother online game that can be played through internet explorer/mozilla fire fox that is this fun.

I was looking on random YouTube video's of runescape. I scroll down to the comments and every other comment is "Runescape SUCKS!!!!" "worst game ever!!!!!" "WoW rules!!!!" but I dont really understand this at all.

This kid at school to the mick out of me and a few firneds for playing this game (he was the school bully) then one day he came into school and started talking to us about it and we wondered why then we realised he started playing it and he liked it too :shock:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well after that us and him became pretty good friends :D

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Just a little story but i guess there could be alot of people like him around?
