My old account was hacked back in December, though I don't know how. My friend logged into his account so I could talk to the hacker. The guy said I could have it back for my bank pin, well tough [cabbage] Mr. Hacker, I'm not talking. Well, unfortunatly, it took forever to get the account back. Jagex's account recovery kept rejecting my requests, and by the time I did get it back, the 7 day pin thing was up, and I was perma-banned.

 

 

 

I mean, I spent all that time getting something back, just to find out it was useless.

 

 

 

I didn't give up though. Now I have a lvl 68, better anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc. I also have an obscure pass and pin.

Don't Fall for the "Completeing Mils" Scam like I just did earlier today :wall:

 

 

 

basically the scammer will call out "completeing mils" and you go up to the and depending on the person trying to do the scamming depends on how likely they are to scam you, the ones that talk make it obvious they are scamming :wink: Which even though the ones that dont talk are still scamming, it makes it a pinch harder to pick up on that

 

 

 

Now for the Story of the Victim of the Scam: (aka ME :x )

 

 

 

Anyways, I had went to world 2 to sell my second dark bow drop that i had just gotten this morning within Minutes of waking up, as I logged off right outside of the Dark Beasts.

 

 

 

So I am in world 2 looking for a person to buy my new bow, when i see A guy saying "completeing mils". So i think to myself, let me get this right, this guy makes me think if I show him I dont have a rounded / even million amount of gold, hell top it off for me?!?! Well what a nice guy!

 

 

 

So I walk over to the guy and i offered 5.8m of my exactly 6m I had in my inventory. I mean afterall (I didnt want to take too much of the nice players money ) So just like I expected him too, he put up 200k, the 200k more that would make me have "6m". So we both clicked accept, and he clicked it again, and then i looked at it, and i thought to myself, why did he hesitate to click accept the second time, if he didnt mind giving the money away? Well so I paused, looked at his 200k, and thefact that the "other player has accepted", and then i Click accept myself :XD:

 

 

 

So, To make a long story short, I was still tired from just waking up or something, at least ill blame it on that, becuase i never even checked my half of the trade screen -.- . So he got my 5.8m, and i got his 200k.

 

 

 

My 5.8m for his 200k = 5.6million gp loss for me today #-o

 

 

 

My first, last and only time that i will ever be scammed on Runescape again.

I was in varrock one day, and some guy comes up to me.

Back when I was only lvl 40ish, I had just bought a nice new set of full addy(my best armor) that I had to kill like a 100 hill giants for when this guy comes up to me and says hell buy my armor for 100k. Im all like omg, ill be 70k richer with basically no effort. So I trade him and all went well until I tried to buy a rune b axe with the money... :wall:

 

 

 

Also, I was pking with my rune armor when this guy asks me if we could team together, and i say yes. Then. he gets his mage friend and says were going deep but ull first have to skull and i say okay(i had no idea what the little skull meant back then :( ) So, i hit him and i skull and then the mage binds me while the guys double hits me with his dds(p++). I say wat the hell stop but they just laughed at me so I died in like 2 hits.. dang bsers...

He then adds about 20 other low-level items and I accept really fast. Didn't check the second trade screen.

All is well now though..I had about 200k in items after the scam and I now have close to 20m. Merchant for life!

Once, this one guy borrowed my mith pick in exchange for a mith scimmy, and he didn't give my pick back!

 

 

 

 

 

Today, a certain (name changed for privacy) rangman100 would give me 22500 gp for my best item. I give him 500 chaoses, he logs, i report, report, report.

urgh, I got scammed twice in the exact same way... I was trying to buy some Big Bones: I see someone selling them, I trade... and end up paying three times the price for Normal Bones. :-X

 

The noted versions of different bones should look more different.

The Verac's trick:

 

 

 

Was buying full verac's in a hurry. Saw many scammers that tried to sell 2 skirts instead of helm (verac skirt = about 500k and verac's helm = about 1,7m). Well then a guy came up and was selling verac's for 3,6m (usually about 3,8m) and of corse i bought. They were noted and obviously, he had a black skirt, instead of a verac skirt. Well lost about 500k but that won't bother that much. Atleast got a good laugh! :D

Then i get another message saying "I'm having a drop party afterwards at my house". Then another saying "First I need to do a pk video, just use 3 items it wont matte but make sure they're ok so it will look good on film".

 

 

 

So I wait until we go, he invites his friend and I'm there with my Torags plate, Dragon skirt and Whip. We use those telleing things and get to the level 50 one. I remember not to attack because I don't want to be skulled. Then the guy gives me some Chinchompas so it will look good on film. I equip them then he attacks me and I get skulled because i forgot to turn my auto-retaliate off #-o

 

 

 

I get skulled and tbed, iced etc.

 

 

 

So the moral of the story is, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. So call me an idiot if you like because I call it myself.

this is more of a scam that i saw happening. there was a noob f2p outside varrock palace. he said he was a mem and for 10k he would sell you varrock castle. a lvl 7 came by and bought it lol.

I was in edgy selling somrthing and this dude randomly starts pming me saying that there was this dude in the wildy that he was going to pk and all i had to bring was my guthans spear and i would not get skulled. So i followed him and his friend into the wildy, and he traded me a chimpchompa and he said that the guy would attack me, but when we got up there, he attacked me and his friend got under me and i threw he chimpchompa (i had forgot that chimp's explode when thrown) and it skulled me and they both owned me and i lost my spear.... :x :cry:

Before Jagex changed the way mage logs looked, willow logs and mage logs looked very simmilar. I think you know what happened next. I was offered 1k mage logs for 900k or 900 ea and they were switched to willows. There goes 870k I will never get back :(

Ugh, the good old Mage log, Willow log trick, about 2 times with tht, lost 1m each time (good job they changed the mage logs now).

This one was a new one for me to see.

ive fallen victim to a lot of scams in my times (about 7m gone :oops: #-o ) but my favourite is when a guy offered to buy all my yew longs 600ea ( i had 10k and 600ea was v good price then) if i came to his alching spot (varrock east pub) of course i knew it was a lure so i took an extra law+ an air staff. i traded him...nothing...then i saw 10k appear out in the wilde...1 telegrab later a "thanks sad scammer noob" and i walked off, with 9700 gp profit :twisted:

got scammed 300k buying 900+ normal bones.. didnt actually bother looking at the names..

 

 

 

oh well. sold them for 90k after that..but learnt my mistake..once bitten twice shy =S
