As one who's played almost all 6 years of public RS, the scamming and cheating really aren't that much of a problem. There have been many, many worse times in RS history when it comes to scamming and hacking. Runescape hasn't seen a huge amount of online player growth, or so it seems. xevanx Posted January 4, 2007 Share Posted January 4, 2007 knowing jagex, they will most likely sell. firstly, IAC would have to offer them over 100 million for it, and they could do with it what they please. but just as easily, Andrew or whoever used to maintain RS could quite as easily create a knock off. just change names, basic character styles, mapping etc. I think it would be great for them to sell, get rid of the useless owners, *greedy people*, and get an even better owner. but there is no doubt in my mind that this will solve the problems and headaches for the new owner. So let me calculate. 1,000,000 times $5/month = $5,000,000 $5,000,000 times 12 months = $60,000,000/year. And as they add more servers, they get more members, new members, and yeah. They're not going to sell. :P You think RS runs on it's own? They still make many millions a year, but it's not even close to 60. Those servers are DARN expensive. The fat cats at SOE killed Star Wars Galaxies, the very first MMO I EVER played. The critical and massive patch called the Combat Upgrade (CU for short), was released 1 year too early, form then on, it just went downhill. After some time spent on the new version, i eventually quit.... :evil: #-o :boohoo: :shock: :cry: Any refugees from Star Wars Galaxies out there? How's the game doing these days? Or is it truly dead? ( or dislike ) Though they may make it better :-k Why would they stat wipe us or mutilate the game to piss us off? :-k I think they would listen to us and see how the game is made up, and create updates that fit the game well and possibly better updates. Most likely a better customer support meaning that our appeals would be read, less power abuse, less false bannings. And they would just be more available for us to have someone talk to us as if they were our personal helper. But Jagex made the game the way it is today, they have done a good job; they've treated us good and bad. They rely on this game as their backbone because the only other games they have is something like tetris or whatever on their site. Go on there. It's not a whole lot to choose from. RuneScape is their best game as it's an MMORPG, and not some 1 player game like tetris or whatever. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on. RuneScape is Java, so it wouldn't have as good of graphics as WoW or what you have on your PlayStation, no? After 5+ long years they could possibly be getting sick of running the game. If they sold it now they could get "squillions", then move onto other projects or other endeavors they might wish to accomplish in their lives. Obviously if their meeting up with people for talks on "selling Ruenscape" then they've obviously got their reasons, which quite frankly none of us around here would know exactly. What if they don't have the time/skills to make updates? They'd be overwhelmed by whining on the forums, people would quit left and right, and Runescape would probably die (Or at least reduced to very few players) in two months.
