Xenophobia (mild) - fear of strangers. Glossophobia (medium) - fear of public speaking. Arachnophobia (strong) - fear of spiders. :ohnoes: and; Coulrophobia ( :lol: ) - fear of clowns: Maybee I'm a bit wierd, but I heard somewhere up to 75% of people suffer from glossophobia. :uhh: What about you guys? I scream, run, start crying, panting, can't breathe properly, it's really weird. It's mainly with more tarantula - like creatures, the things that get me most are thick legs or bent legs. Daddy-long-legs I can deal with because they're thin... but anything with thicker legs... :| :| :evil: :wall: Sometimes even cartoon-spiders scare me... :( But the thing is I haven't always had arachnophobia, I think I developed it when I was about four. I also have a phobia of...big spaces. This is gonna take some explaining... :-k You know pictures of really, really big things, like planets, stars, galaxies, even countries and oceans? YAAAAAAAAAGHGHGFHFHGGNRGHGGH!!!! They freak me out so much! Even atlases and big maps scare me! Which is why I'm not using Cad's FRAPPR. :( But I don't mind things like fields or streets, they're fine. The same thing also applies to large blocks of colour. How weird is that?! Ape Posted January 4, 2007 Share Posted January 4, 2007 I don't think I can pin-point a phobia I have. I'm a little scared walking up the ally by the side of my house at night. It has that murderous, eeriness to it which makes you want to run through at as though someone's chasing you. Being in the house alone at night sometimes gets to me. The pipes make terroble noises and sounds like people are walking across floor-boards in certain places. terley Posted January 4, 2007 Share Posted January 4, 2007 when I was working as a kitchen porter I accidently smashed a large stack of glass bowls and glasses and my hands were engulfed in glass, had a real big piece stickin into my right hand and loads of shards, few slashes and more glass that I had to pull out, the amount of blood was horrible and I just quickly wrapped my worst hand in a big cloth that immediately turned red.. The bleeding didn't stop for an day or so had to keep it held and eventually had loads of stitches. As an artist this scared the living hell outta me, my hands are my life. So basically were im going with this is, I have a really big phobia of glass, not windows or anything stupid, things like wine isles in supermarkets (especially my local has a really narrow isle :ohnoes: ), glasses left on tabes or at the edge of the table, smashed phone boxes etc.. it just sends a shiver down my spine and I just feel like staying as far away as possible. As if im going to fall into it or something.. But im not the sort of person to let my fears take over me, I face it head on :thumbsup: oh btw no my hands aren't disfigured or anything they were just scars which have faded loads now :) my hands look normal. but at the time you could see bone :-X Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Whereas previously I couldn't be in the same room as a spider, now I can grab them with some tissue paper and flush em down the toilet. I'm still not good with large spiders though. I also am pretty afraid of jellyfish, but that's probably because I was stung very badly as a child.
