Topic or Topic Starter?

Has anyone noticed that any time someone rags on poor grammar, they make a grammatical error themselves? It happens so often; the irony is actually getting tiring. Seriously, I have to watch my words here so that I don't do it myself.

On topic: I usually take a look at everything. I'll look at something that I know will be well presented based on it's author first, though.

A combination. If it looks like an interesting topic i'll read it regardless of poster. Or if i'm unsure about the topic but I respect the poster i'll look at it anyway. Like this one.

Better mention that I start with who posted, then topic title.

So if it looks interesting but I don't know the person who started it - it'll wait till I'm done with other topics from people I'm familiar with.

I pretty much do the same thing as you Cad. I know who to look for intelligent posts from and when I see their posts I read it over well and try to take it in. But when I see someone I know doesn't have such a great intelligence level, I'm more likely to skip their post unless I am truely interested.

SuziAngel mentioned the grammatical snobbery around here. I'll admit I can be a grammar Nazi at times but I won't be a jerk to someone if my own grammar is slipping at that time (though I always try to post with good grammar so it usually doesn't slip much).

I generaly end up looking for both. If its a smart person I know than I'll open it expecting a good topic, but if its the likewise and the poster is less than average on inteligence I'll simply look at it for the humor value.

And if its a poster I don't know I'm in a for a suprise.

However, topics that intrest me will get me first usualy.

For myself, i'm a bit of both. If I see a name that I know is intelligent, i'll diligently read the original post. Alternatively if the topic interests me but I know the poster is a moron, I merely skim it and/or interpret it how I see it. Call me prejudice, but if someone is going to make a topic on a subject with little to no knowledge, it's not a fantastic start, is it?

Ditto.

However I don't know why I'm on this thread. The poster is one of those 'lack of intelligent' ones. :P

I mainly look at the title of the topic, if it interests me then I'll probably read it. If it doesn't look particularly interesting, but the topic starter is someone good, like Cad, Deloria, or Issy (There's more, but I'm not going to name them :P) I'll be more likely to read it.

I normally look at the author of the poster, because I try to stay away from our obnoxious users like Issy and Vickie.

But if the title really intrigues me, then I'll open it up.

I don't care about the threadstarter. I care more about the replies on that thread because sometimes, TIF surprises me. They can make a decent discussion out of a crappy thread. But too bad that's the minority recently.

I read most things, don't really select on TS. Maybe I read topics by specific users earlier than other ones. I tend to skip topics about religion and politics.

I look at the topic title. I don't know who the author is until I look at the first post. Unless the title is stupid, in which case I'll look at author and amount of replies. If there are very few, usually I click on it in order to report it.

I read whichever topic titles catch my attention, regardless of topic maker. Of course, there are some people on this forum I really dislike, or disagree with constantly, and some I do like or agree with more. I try to stay open minded.

I read it to voice my opinion. Even if the introduction post isn't that well thought out, as long as I have an idea of what they're saying, I'll voice my opinion. ;P
