fakeitormakeit
I saw a program on the top 7 most likely doomsday events and guess what number 1 was.... global warming. Our previous generation has pretty much caused tons of pollution and we are doing more. We are the generation who has to decide to do something, otherwise its too late for our great great great grandchildren. The ice caps were suppose be finished melting and flood out the earth in like 5000+ years but due to extreme pollution it is now estimated to be around 200- years. Even if we don't survive to be drowned by melting caps or being burnt to a crisp, the effects will still hit us. Summers will be very hot, and as the water lvl rises we will be pushed inland and major cities such as London, Rome, and more will have to be abandoned because of flooding(based on a 100-150yr. period) By the way today is janurary 6 and it was 75F as the highest peak in temp, NJ. Fadfdfd
I'd just like to say this quickly: THIS IS NOT GLOBAL WARMING. Global Warming = Increase in 1 or 2 degrees over the course of a 50 year span. The weather is just being weird. I kinda like it. It's 70 here in CT. I was in Florida the past week. It was 70 and 80 all week. Woulda been just as good to be back home :D

paul_wilson
If there is global warming then why was it 20 odd and raining on Christmas day when normally is should be around 30 here? (i live in Melbourne, Australia) Global warming is just a buzz word the media has taken and ran with. There were worse droughts then the one Australia is in now in the 20's, so don't go pinning that to it, either. First and only pixel thinger I made. Our reserves are drying up and anything that contributes to that (global warming) I dont like.

Militaris
Many of the cities around here had their coldest December since records began. Also had quite a bit of rain, not enough to keep the creeks flowing but the grass growth is great for this time of year. Should be a brown grass desert here at the moment but there is still patches of green everywhere.

dangeresque
There we plenty of snow if global warming keeps up, at least according to this theory....here it is: Once the polar ice caps melt, the temperature of the ocean water will go up dramatically. Because of that it will get much more colder and esentially....we will enter another ice age.... Not to mention that yellowstone is do to erupt any year now...yes, in case you didnt already know yellowstone is a big, huge, super volcano....and if that blows...well, mankind might not make it.... Gin_and_Tonic
I thought for sure somebody in this liberally-dominated board would've blamed President Bush for all this  [Not sarcastic] I hate to be liberal, but in theory, he is the one with his idea 'Global warming is just a theory'... Although, China is also to blame for their huge economic growth, and mass Co2 emits... I did an extensive report on Global Warming for school, and China and America together are responsible to nearly 33% of all global warming... They're also in denial of the problem as much as eachother... Luckily, the Uk and EU have finally woken up to the problems we will face due to your pollution, but without the support of China and America, its to little to late... There were worse droughts then the one Australia is in now in the 20's, so don't go pinning that to it, either. You're taking about rain on 1 specific day and thats your reason for countering weeks upon weeks of unusual weather? Global Warming DOESN'T always mean, hot, dry, polar-ice-caps-melting weather... Australia has been having that drought for years now. Central North America keeps having long violent winters. Eastern North America has no winters... The Gulf Coast has had stronger and stronger hurricanes on average. The artic permafrost is melting and the tundra is turning into swamps. Mountain Glaciers all over the world are disappearing, and so are the lakes they feed into. So you gave a personal story, im gonna give one too. Or maybe more. The last snow storm ive seen where I live was about 5 years ago... Now its just a pathetic freezing rain and 2 centemetres of icy snow if were lucky... And it lasts only a few week(s). Then it melts... Winter was supposed to start in the middle of December, and by that I meant 0 degrees celcius of average temperature. 1 month later, the average temperature is 10 degrees celcius. My old country which is close to the equator, has an average temperature of 29 degrees celcius year round. Now its 33. Right now where I am, they have this little canal called the Rideau, and I was hoping to skate it since they told me it usually freezes by December 24 to early January. Its flowing like a river right now... and the weather guy said its gonna be like so for another few weeks into February... Boy is the Winterlude festival here ever gonna suck if this continues... And what if *quote* "Global Warming" *end quote* is a "Buzz Word", whats your point? That its not there? Genocide is a buzzword, the Iraq War is a buzzword, Affirmative Action is a buzzword, Fundamentalism is a buzzword... Whatever its called, you can't ignore it because its there. ... Well look at me telling you what to think... For shame... Well if your climate there is just fine and dandy, then I guess theres nothing for you to complain about is there? Im sorry for thinking Global Warming is affecting you. The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. trapical
Global warming makes the entire world warmed by a fraction of a degree every few years. It doesn't make it 50 degrees warmer in the midwest all of a sudden El Nino is the cause, it moves the jet stream north which blocks Canada's polar air from moving further south. Doesn't anyone watch the news anymore?

Doesn't anyone watch the news anymore? Was'nt that on the News like 2 years ago? Thats when i heard of it. :-w Most people first heard about El Nino as a word and phenomena around the late 1990s. It was dubbed after wind and water currents shifted in the Pacific ocean suddenly. Back then I was still around the Phillipines and boy, was the weather wierd. It was hot and very dry. And Southeast Asia is normally wet and tropical. If I remember correctly as well, Indonesian rainforests burned, and there were wildfires across Australia cause of droughts. On the other side of the Pacific, there were very strong storms where there shouldn't have been, like in Chile and Peru where they cause flooding. --- El Nino (and La Nina) was temporary anyway, and it went away after a few years. (But people still use the term But Global Warming is the increase of average global temperature, so even if its temporary, the Earth's warming and freezing cycle takes thousands or more, years to go back to normal. Its just what were doing is increasing the levels CO2 and green house gasses, and its speeding up the process. Its supposed to take hundreds of years, not decades...
