cadburys_egg
Hah, anyway. But just to make sure we're on the same page, a quick definition of a gamer girl: A females who plays a variety of games. I'm sure most females have/or do play Sim games, quick and require little to no knowledge. :P Not just a game every odd week, but plays for entertainment. Ok, on the same page? Now, (especially to males) what do you think of them? Do you feel a bit threatened? That perhaps gaming is a mainly male populated "thing"? Or do you welcome them? Are you glad that there is something that both genders can share interests in? Anyway, lots of boys I know feel quite threatened by gamer girls. They find it weird when I start a conversation revolving around games, but they soon get into it. Discussion thread go.
AniseCookies
Well, they can do whatever they want. But on Xbox Live, it's kind of wierd because at first you think it's a 8 year old kid, but then you finally realize it's just a girl.
unknownmasterofnothing
Growing up, my sister played videogames with me. Genesis, snes, n64. But she does like the sims... Also gamer girl groups like frag dolls and etc resemble feminist groups too much for me.
Viktorkrum77
I don't mind it. Around here we tend to call them 'tomboys'. I think the ratio of female gamers to male gamers is around 40/60. Me doing staff.

Faux
I'd have the one on the right for take out, thanks. My girlfriend plays Gunbound every weekend. I'm sure she can kick almost anyone's [wagon] in here in the game. The thing with 'female' gamers is that there are so many guys who pretend to have more advantage. Every time I see a female avatar, I always think it's a guy. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::

They're generally girls who act like boys; such as short hair, boyish nature (more playful, enjoy getting dirty) and have a man voice. Ok, so I made the last one up, but you get the point. :P
Bloodredsword
LMAO@ the pic  it doesn't really make a difference if the gamer is a girl or a boy  Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. deloriagod
But seriously now.. I enjoy girl gamers. When I used to play a lot of MMORPGs, I really liked having girls in Vent with us. A nice little change from always talking to guy :P I don't feel threatened by them at all. If they beat me, we'll play a game I'm good at ;) Internet Marketing For Newbies

Fadfdfd
If they are playing a game such as the sims, for example, then I don't see anything wrong with it. It's a fun game that (I'll say Teens for the content)-Adults can play and enjoy of any gender... But like Shooters?? Like Call of Duty and other war games? It's just different. Awkward if I may say so myself. Girls don't tend to talk about Wars. Sometimes it's a bit awkward at first, and then other times it's fine. It's actually quite comical to turn on Halo, hand a girl a control, and say "Let's play!" I've actully done that. At my best friends birthday he had Halo on and nobody was playing. So I handed his girlfriend a control and kicked her a*. Then I let his 7 year old sister and his girlfriend play against each other.. That resulted in a lot of running around, a few gernades accidentally thrown, and not much shooting :P Internet Marketing For Newbies

Poopingman
From my observations playing online games for years, females take gaming alot more seriously. I always notice that TRUE female gamers (not males that just make female characters) have more impressive stats, and are more dedicated. This is of course just a broad generalization, this doesn't mean every girl shares the same ideals about gaming. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King.... If I know theres something I can do, but just take a bit more practice - I will keep trying. More persistance than dedication really.

This is of course just a broad generalization, this doesn't mean every girl shares the same ideals about gaming. I've noticed that too. When I played Shadowbane there were two females in our guild. Every night most of the guys would end up drunk and screw up during fights (though we usually won, it would have been easier if they were sober). The females were never drunk while they were online and most of the time they took things a lot more seriously than any of us did. I remember their sarcastic laughs as all the drunk guys were still as happy as ever, even after we lost a battle. Then they usually signed off and let us to do our best without them, which usually didn't amount to much after our drunken players kept on drinking. pompey_spud
Well, i think as long as theyre serious about it, and know what theyre on about, its great, and can be very attractive. If a girl is just doing it to impress a guy, and claims to play 'popular' games such as Crazy Frog Racer *crosses chest*, then thats the most annoying thing in the world, but the reverse is true too. A girl playing great games for entertainments sake is one of life's beautiful and rare things :P
cupcake
Gamer girs: at first, they are imaginary human female created by lonely male. after sometime, "sex sales" was discovered by the advertising division of many companies. Many human female also discovered subconsciousnly that if they cheapen themselves, they will recieve the human male's attention some human female start to noticing the connecetion between video games and the human male. -many female lie about the fact that they play video games. -many would play the game, but just hoping to recieve attention from the human male. the introduction of MMORPG, basicly, an interactive chat room to meet the human male. Many female (especially the lonly one) started playing them, in hoping for male's attention. If they weren't after male's attention...it is like zero divides zero. what i typed could be a load of junk, but that's my thought

ForsakenMage
A few nights ago on the DoD server I play on, a guy asked me this question: Guy: "LostPulse, how old are you?" Me: "Erm, does it even matter how old I am? Why do you ask?" Guy: "Well, either you sound or you're really really young." Me: "Hey now, watch your language!" Admin: Me: "Apparently some people don't believe ladies play this game." It went on from there. DoD = Day of Defeat. No, I don't have source. Yes I like FPS games and RPG ones as well. Weapons of choice: Scoped Enfield (British Sniper Rifle), Springfield (Allies Sniper Rifle), Mauser Karabiner 98k ZF (German Sniper Rifle), M1A1 Thompson, M3 "Grease Gun," and Maschinenpistole 40 (German Submachine Gun). I'm more of a sniper than a front-line sort of gal though. Reason why I play these sort of games is because it breaks the stereotype of "girly games," plus it's funny to watch the reactions of guys as they get pwned by a girl. Adventurer's Log || YouTube || Facebook || Tip.it Times Work || Wanna Join the Editorial Panel?Maxed Out 01 October 2012 PDT
Screech1992
Gamer girls SHOULD NOT BE OVER 200 POUNDS. Other girls shouldn't be below 10 pounds (*points at covergirls...*) Noone should be over 200 pounds, unless you can't help it (desease, born with it, etc.) I like talking to girls online, although if a girl told me she played Runescape, I wouldn't be a plus I think, (I don't like the fact that I play too, but put that aside)
