In same ways I would consider games like Commander ken or crystal caves ect to be retro. They were around in the early 1990's

but when compared against the likes of Pacman, pong or tetris they seem less so.

  • 2 weeks later...

Pong. No, seriously. No matter what form, wether cell phone or the original game, I can never win. I actually think I'm pretty bad at video games  . The most recent one I can't beat is Star Wars Battlefront II, I can't even get past the "line in the sand" level on Kashyyyk.

There's no sig here. Move it along...

Yea, they're in a bit of a limbo. I generally consider retro to end around 1990, but there's a lot of titles that float on between then and when you had the launches of the PS and the N64.

It's almost time for two classifications:

Classic Retro (pre-1990)

New Age Retro (1994-2000)

There are a lot of titles between 1990 and 1994 that can easily be pushed in with the Classic Retro crowd. And there are others which will NEVER be retro, no matter how many years pass.

It's a strange situation for games of that era indeed.

hmm? i dont think i finished Donkey Kong 64, i got up to the boxing ring and thats all i remember.

Elders scrolls III Bloodmoon. Dang werewolves.

yep and morrowind it self is also far to big to realy win al side quests and besides it got very much replay- valeu cause of the choiches you have to make so i think morrowind (tribunal and bloodmoon)

:) wrong about that. I've beaten all of the quests including main, and both the expansions. I've also almost done the Nirnroot quest in Oblivion, and then I've completed all of Oblivion (Quests, Guilds, and bought add on's included) too... Darn Nirnroots!

its hard but incredibly fun

if you call some one a noob then you are of the status in question.

I remember I had some Digimon game for the Ps1 that just went on forever and ever and ever and ever... and the challenges were worse than doing Zelda: Oracle of Seasons without a guide. I just gave up after I had like 100+ hours on it  .
