The Diary of Tarn...Necromancy and more.

Featured Replies

If anyone bothered to read this, it has some very interesting info, perhaps foreshadowing future updates.

The first page is the most obvious, it speaks of Skeletal Wyverns and reviving them. Hint of Necromancy coming soon. During the next few pages you will find out that it is possible to summon the undead. However it is impossible to control them. It also speaks of a forbidden library in which the Necromancy books are locked away in. Hm, maybe Tarn is the one that revived the Skeletal Wyverns.

When you read more, you will find out that in order to control the undead, one must have a special crystal, being the Salve Amulet. It also mentions about Lord Drakan, and even he may fear the Salve Amulet. Perhaps...perhaps this new Salve is the key to defeating the Vyrewatch which are currently invincible.

So Tarn's Lair...maybe more to the eye then just a maze...

well of course... After all they wouldn't make a mini-game with a great storyline then not update it!! Then again look what happend to the lovely rogue place... nothing new... lalalalal pretty boring if i do say so myself...

I agree.

There was a lot of hopeful foreshadowing within that diary. Necromancy is being mentioned, and completely summoning/reviving a monster, such as Skeletal Wyvrens which are the skeletons of dead dragons. And Lord Drakan, he shall perish with the use of the salve amulet, as well as his annoying vyrewatch :) All in good time, all in good time.

dragons are different from wyverns, i was under the impression their was a different version from the "definition" of a wyvern

A two-legged dragon having wings and a barbed tail.
i was lead to believe a wyvern was a lion with wings and a scorpion stinger on the end of a dragon tail with eagle legs

Nice find. I haven't done the quest (stupid school taking up to much time for members) but I kinda guessed/hoped Necromancy would be a follow on from this.

BTW Jessy I'm pretty sure what you've described and shown is a Griffin or something similar. In a lot of fantasy books I've read wyverns are the cousins of dragons- not being the same size or as intelligent as dragons but able to breath fire and fly.

I reckon that you will have to 'upgrade' the Road of Ivandis in order to kill the Vyrewatch or Lord Draken himself, and have done since the quest was released. Why not top it with an enchanted Salve Crystal instead? Should be more powerful than a Sapphire against the undead, no?

Yeah, that's the look I always thought it had.

This is Misterxman's pic that got into the player's gallery, and I don't think jagex would have taken it if it was inaccurate.

Classic bloodveld for lyph3! Although I do like the new ones.

Like a ninja, here I was, gone I am now.

BUT! I may be back! Add my new account, Dr Bloodveld!

I usually don't care about Runescape history, because...it's Runescape. But I found that diary extremely interesting, and reminding me about summoning.

Off topic, the game Morrowind has got to be the best game I know of to read books in-game. I never read and in fact despise it, but those Morrowind books are just so interesting. Mainly the ones that the person themselves actually wrote, like a log of day by day activities.

im expecting necromancy to come before this summer. It will probably be unlocked with a quest after this mini game.

for those who were there, and for those who have heard this, back before 2005 or early 2005, jagex released a disclaimer saying what they were going to work on in the future....On the list was construction, barrows, a new frozen area, other stuff and necromancy/summoning

We hopefully are going to see the new frozen area later on, and i think this was a big prequel to summoning.

Tarn's lair is NOT officially a minigame, so thus it can be related to a skill, and possibly a quest, but i doubt it will have to do with the vyrewatch. I suspect something entirely different.

i was around for that, the vyrewatch are vampires, the wyverns is what this is about, you know those flying skeletons

the book talks about how this guy learned about summing\necromancy, and it hints towards wyverns being old dragon bones being necromancy being a 'Great Spell'
