January 31, 200719 yr I've been thinking about this for a while... BA came out, and like all new combat minigames started strong with masses of people flocking there to try it out. Now like all other "new" things that "fresh update scent" wore off... but it wore off a lot faster then any other update(even faster then farming i dare say). Now BA is pretty much empty, you can server hop for a while before seeing even 1 other person there. But why has BA(an awsome mini game where a squad of heros works together to destory wave after wave of creatures before finaly slaying the evil queen! sorry had to add that there for some dramatic effect :-D ) turned into such a spectacular failure? Well there are a few reasons. 1) it has a few nice rewards along with the chance of some really good rewards, but they arent enough to keep people coming back. Personaly Im jsut getting the gloves and calling it quits :-P 2) lot of people have problems with running into horrible team players that ruin the experience for all( the only collector not calling attacks?) 3) this isnt the final nail this is the pine box![ NO EXPERIENCE] whats the fun in hacking thru wave after wave of monsters if you get NO experience, You barrows armour gets trashed, you get no loot, yet you STILL get NO experience. If BA gave exp i believe that it would still atract a lot of people despite its poor rewards. It could be turned into a fun and effective way for people to train with friends. just my 2 cents thoughts? January 31, 200719 yr i thought it gave xp, i got my mage up for free there, did they make it like a player owned dungeon now? http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=615955click link to go to ganon95 productionsrunescape requires a lot of skills, napoleon dynamyte would love this game i am the proud owner of the quest point cape; all quests done 12/04/06
January 31, 200719 yr The worst thing is is that it'll probably never be revived either. Not only are willing players hard to find, but imagine getting a good team to go. If just ONE guy leaves within the 45min-hour it takes to get through all ten waves then you're screwed, stuck at Wave 7 with nowhere to go but back to 1, or waiting until tomorrow to finish it. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.
January 31, 200719 yr Bleh, played it untill i got my fighter torso, then there was no more use for it.. I think many other people share the same experience of me, just playing long enough to get the torso, and having to drag through those horrible games *shudders*. January 31, 200719 yr ...stuck at Wave 7 with nowhere to go but back to 1, or waiting until tomorrow to finish it. Defender lvl 2, I'm stuck on wave 7  :x I actually like the game, I wish more people would play. :(
January 31, 200719 yr it's like all the mini-games you really have to expect it, people will play it untill they get bored and move on to their usual routines, it doesn't mean it was a failure, the game will still be played by the organised teams, this is what mini-games are there for, aside from pest control, it is there as just a fun alternative to the continuous training that happens every day. BA just seems more of a failure because of the way that teams are organised, if you had to organise those teams for something like castle wars it would be the same, there are games going on but you can't expect to just join a world and expect to find a team, but the game itself will always be a success. -= weasel =- rsname: moosewalker ~ top 10000 player :Dfull qp - always willing to chat add me...
January 31, 200719 yr I think it is because this game requires actual TEAMWORK and an IQ over 50. Neither of which RuneScape has an abundunce(sp?) of. Plus the rewards are pretty useless after you get the torso.
January 31, 200719 yr I too enjoy the game, but I left because I was getting a bit annoyed at some of the people there. I got my granite plate and fighter torso, but still want those gloves. If anybody wants to form a crack BA squad, I'll join. :P
January 31, 200719 yr Its a good game but i think many, many people were put off by the number of poor teammates they encountered. In several games involving moi there were players that still didn't do what was asked (update info) after me telling them literally 7 times step by step what to do. The really depressing thing is that these people were not just time wasters (like people who continually close doors) they wanted to participate but they lacked the basic level of patience and/or intelligence for sustained teamwork. These people made up 1/4 of people i played with. This makes the game almost unplayable. I havent been back to BA in a week or so and probably wont be back ever.
January 31, 200719 yr I wanted gloves but could never get a good team there :( Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.
January 31, 200719 yr stuck at Wave 7 with nowhere to go but back to 1, or waiting until tomorrow to finish it. you can reset your wave... but still alot of work for nothing really
January 31, 200719 yr BA's failure is quite simple: You get no XP; You get no GP; It requires a HUUUGE time investment; Your success is dependent upon others; and The rewards are terrible. Considering that it takes a good hour to get enough points for the 500 point gamble, the rewards are utterly pathetic. I'm better off doing Slayer or Barrows for that hour. In that time I'll get a clue scroll or two, or get a nice Barrows drop, to make that hour worthwhile. With BA? I'll get 22 teaks for the effort (like I couldn't have cut 600 -1000 teaks in that hour). The game itself is fun. The rewards are utterly useless. As such, in the Runescapian universe, where ones efforts should generally get you some XP or GP after extensive effort, BA is pointless.

January 31, 200719 yr pest control and barrows have ruined people...in the sence they have no reason to actually work as a team... I really don't understand what you're saying here at all. How have PC and Barrows ruined anyone? ...they have no reason to actually work as a team, where this game does. this is the best designed minigame yet. definately 1 with complexity... I agree that Barbarian Assault is fun (as I mentioned), but anytime I'm playing RS, I have to think "Is this time I'm spending actually getting me anywhere in-game?" Given the huge time investment BA requires, this is an even more important question now. As a level 124 this may not be a concern for you, but for most others who play the game, it most certainly is. After you've gotten the 2-4 worthwhile BA rewards, why would anyone play?
January 31, 200719 yr Yeah it was fun while it lasted... for the people confused about this, in BA you do get experience for casting a spell if you use, but you don't get the xp given from dealing damage 120+ combat 1800+ total | level 76 rscwhip drops: 31abyssal heads: 1dark bows: 1
January 31, 200719 yr After you've gotten the 2-4 worthwhile BA rewards, why would anyone play? they wouldnt thats one of its major faults, but the game its self is well designed. pc & barrows first of all pc, no risk best training EVER, its made the attitude of a person 100+ combat lower from being 16 years old to 12 years old on average. and this game gets you exp fast, i mean i get over 200k exp in 100 points infact, probably 250k exp in 100 points(2-3hours maybe) this has really ruined runescape i mean i love the idea i can get 1.5mil exp a day with PC, but it destroys future features. theirs so many things i could say about pc, and i dont think PC's rewards are all that great. they should give out better/more armors. also, You get no XP;You get no GP; kind of attitude about a minigame is just bogus. its made to be fun, not a way of life. castle wars is probably the best concept of how a minigame should be, fun. purely fun, the tickets...useless for any1 almost except to show you played 400+ hours @ castle wars. it does not directly give you exp or $ but you go get your own experience, you decide if you can/want to get exp. barrows... i love the armor reward ideas, but now we need better armors, the 70 def requirements is too low. this "minigame" which i dont think it is. is much too easy, like paul said about it, this minigame is like way under powered, i should fear the barrows not beable to wander around aimlessly in armors that i wouldnt even wear to firegiants. this game has truly defeated the purpose of patience in this game. considering you can get an item once a day, i mean that is the bare minimum almost. doesnt mean the reward is worth $ you spent but its still a reward. you people should play minigames that are over looked like shades of morton... all that experience is optional, and the rewards... optional. and they are good but take hours to get decent 1's.
January 31, 200719 yr Well, I really enjoyed BA for a bit of fun when it came out. I got to level 2 healer and defender then decided that I'd go for the torso before everyone stopped playing. Having got the torso and granite plate, what other incentive is there? As has been said before, if there is no xp (bar mage xp for attackers) reward, then people's stats are not going to be affected, and the minigame has no impact on the rest of the game. It takes well over an hour (particularly with a weak team) to even get to the queen, and the game can be ruined by a leaver/non-caller/low-level messing it up. The solution would be to make the rewards really worthwhile. So instead of giving 22 teaks, give 500+. Other examples would be to give 5-10k xp in a random skill, or rewards that match those from treasure trails. This would keep the interest in the game going, and if the rewards were sufficiently common, then people would want to play it, and the minigame would survive. Best Barrows Chest: guth skirt, dh helm, dh axe, racks, gp (23/08/06); best tt reward: robin, guthix helm, guthix legs, nats, rune legs
January 31, 200719 yr . Now like all other "new" things that "fresh update scent" wore off... but it wore off a lot faster then any other update(even faster then farming i dare say) What are you talking about, heaps of people do and enjoy farming, skills don't really wear off. I would be a total BA addict if they took this simple step. I'd rather they took away the chance at a D-Chain and other uber-rares, and did what you recommended. If I can get a Zammy Page on a level 1 Treasure Trail, there's no reason for a 500-point gamble to give me such crappy rewards. If it took as long as a game of Pest Control, well, then maybe. But it takes a frickin' hour or so to get 500 points.
January 31, 200719 yr its not really that good of a minigame all that everyone wanted was just the fighter torso and thats it
January 31, 200719 yr I've been playing BA alot lately, everyone just needs to find the world. Currently it looks like everyone plays on world 6. That is were I've gotten my rank 5 collector and attack in the past 2 days. There are tons of people there and usually some in every place anyway, so you don't have to worry about getting stuck. Again, the world for BA is: 6
January 31, 200719 yr I'm tired of seeing people overexaggerate about how Pest Control made the average IQ of players go from 16 to 12. It's not true. 99 Crafting Blog
