mikehild
Meh. It doesn't really matter if I get chain drop off of a dusty anymore, even though it would be a VERY nice surprise. I'm there more for the experience and enjoyment.
Shaddd
Of course we expect too much from the game. But if we didn't expect too much, Jagex wouldn't give us good updates. We expected hunting to be a skill, hunter was released. I posted a thread on the official forums about grappling hooks and agility. Boom. If we didn't tell Jagex what we expected out of them, we wouldn't get good updates. Expectations usually leads to frustration, though.
12pure34
It is very true: Check blogs for 99 goals. How many of them actually make it? I promised myself, I'd never do it.. And so far I hold to that. Just do what comes. Works fine to me.
GrimHams
Well, i'm doing barrows at the moment and i got dharoks axe this morning, and after i got that on my first trip i know anything else i get is pure profit, so i can sit back and relax, not being too bothered if i dont get anything for a while. Although it would be frustrating if i spent a lot of money and lost a profit - not that i think you can with the chaos runes etc. In response to your question without meandering onto my musings i think we do expect too much, when doing (look im doing it again!) a level 3 clue i dont really mind if i get something as clues are generally fun, i've never got a "good" item from a clue and it doesn't bother me. spikerkid
It's more fun whatever you doing if you think your gonna get a 3rd age kite from a clue or a dragon item from a monster. It makes the RuneScape world go round when people continuess hope from something good for themselves. People get into Barrows\Clues (or whatever) because of what people say stuff to their friends bragging "Yes 2 items in one chest". Which makes everyone keep going there, yet they will not get anything and still hope for something which is fun. Quit RuneScape :)
Pikemaster25
I'm sort of like that..but not that badly lol. I think some people do, and others don't. So...all in all, nothing too extravagant.
Harrington
I think that SOME people expect too much from drops, but there are plenty of players who are justified in their expectations. For example, I spent over 1 month in the smoke pits. I killed 21.5k dust devils and received no dragon chain (I know the exact number from my hp experience). Yet, some players would jsut show up for a slayer assignment, kill 100 and get a chain. Based on this, I think I was justified in demanding a chain lol. la la la
i expect a d drop every kill You must be disappointed almost every kill then. I like to do things where I am ALMOST GUARENTEED to make a set amount of gp per hour, so RC is great for that need.

-Devoted12-
Yea we sometimes do, but what's the point of the game if you could just get it? It makes the game what it is. It makes the game fun!
Xewleer
Most Runescape players are too ambitious. We mainly focus on our wealth rather than having fun, playing the game as an experience. To add another example to your list --> holiday events: players expect a good tradable holiday event which has a possibility of becoming a discontinued item --> another example of wealth over experience (not talking about skill experience 8-) ). Yeah I dont play for wealth, I play to enjoy, I love to just walk around listening to the RS music, which is very good I'll show you how terrifying a true Christian can be!It's Xewleer: ZEW le ar, got it memorized?Hermit of the Varrock Library and its proud guard. DeadPolkaDots1
I guess I hope for too much. Example, I do 25 barrows run without an item, I feel like killing someone. Everywhere I click I see people getting double chests, the people I barrow with get spears, my friends have had 100 items and I have had 3. I know it is possible, and when it doesn't happen to me I get frustrated, even though all runes are profit as I don't use any p pots. Quit RS to play real games. :P Bye TIF, miss you. Sky_Assasin9
Yes, we do expect too much. Rewards like that should be more of a pleasant suprise than something you whine and wait for. Abyssalwhip
I dont excpect too much, i kill dust devils for XP thinking it would be awsome to get a d chain, im not there to get one Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....
honeo
Most of us expect instant gradification. RuneScape was designed to be difficult. If that means killing a few thousand monster to get the drop you want, then so be it! It's all based on luck. RuneScape not only tests your skills of decision making, but also tests your patients. Can you stick with something? Or will you quit. This game was not designed for the younger ones. (Or the immature ones  ) Training my pure! I look at it this way... even if i make 20-30k its 20-30k i didn't have before.. as for drops i really don't care i have fun killin monsters... right now only drops i am concerned about are seeds and clues since i am killin a lot of slayer monsters I love to do clues cause even though this sounds lame they are exciting to do.. cause you never know what it is you can get RSN: drgnslyer15 15 skills 90+ - 10 skills 99 - 200m+ total exp

skeroh
i think we expect too much from the drops. if its a rare drop, it'd be nice if you get it, but if you're going for a d-chain from dustys, wouldn't it be faster if you just earned the money and then went out to buy it? you could try your luck at the dusties, but how much luck can you get? Retired from runescape. I will be on every now and then though. :)
ferg161
i like to think i'm going to get a d drop or barrows reward whenever i train/barrow, but i dont expect one. Back when i was in my hayday of barrowing i expected a spear every time i opened the chest, then i took a 1 week break..came back, went on one barrow run(just for fun) and bam!! spear. The moral of the story is just go with the flow, what will be will be.
