But, as is apparent from this topic alone (plus the people who reported the poster), not everyone knows what Linux is. Just because someone works at a computer game company (especially in some deptartment that doesn't depend on specific knowledge of computers and operating systems), their qulaifications probably only require that they know the operating system they will have to use in their job.

Yes, I read Linux is what Jagex's servers run on Linux, so technically that means that Jagex could be banning their servers.. :-$ (Don't scare anyone!)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I know what Linux means, Old (sometimes sub) Teacher had some Pc's with Linux.

I also read that most of JAGeX runs on Linux.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The reason they either banned you was:

 

 

 

A: The person who was looking over the reports might'nt have known much.

 

 

 

or

 

 

 

B: Advertising.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But now this topic is solved and does not need further discussion.

from what i have heard. i belive that jagex banned you for such things as there has been talk of jagex using linux servers to power runscape. if this is true perhaps they thought of it as a risk, knowing most players would use XP and vista now and the remaining use Mac OS or whatever it is. i say sit tight, grab a bagel and wait

Considering the amount of spam Jagex's customer support has to handle (just look at some of the crap at this thread) i'd say 12 hours is actually remarkable time for fixing an idiotic fault such as this...

 

 

 

On the other hand its scary to think to people are getting auto-banned just for being reported, unless there was some1 there (probably some1 from Microsoft working undercover) who realy thought using Linux is illegal....

Now it's hard to understand here because he managed to get someone to admit to using a "third party client" (note the quotations), and was therefore able to report them. That would be the same as if the person asked "Who uses SwiftSwitch?"
