madman6510
Never thought i'd say this but, That was a quick reply from jagex  The moron who banned me must have realised his dumb mistake. Edit: And i've gotten a reply in 12 hours from Jagex, to be honest. Retired
Peronix
Yet another outstanding example of Jagex's wonderful customer support #-o From my own personal experience and all the crap I've been hearing... I wholeheartedly support the trained monkey theory  ^ Jagex's CS people  ^
hellbellz
Someone in SODB got banned temporarily for saying "paris hilton has a weird nose" WTH???Maybe nose means something else in England? lol. I bet it was Luca :P But anyways ON TOPIC: Glad to hear you're not banned, anymore.
Trojann2
What happened to their, "If in doubt, DON'T ban" policy that I heart Andrew post a few days ago. Meh. Glad to hear you fixed it. And I'm with Adam, I'm finding it awesome how they didn't know what Linux was... Jake_Corsair
glad to hear they unbanned you. But, as is apparent from this topic alone (plus the people who reported the poster), not everyone knows what Linux is. Just because someone works at a computer game company (especially in some deptartment that doesn't depend on specific knowledge of computers and operating systems), their qulaifications probably only require that they know the operating system they will have to use in their job. Someone makes a mistake, and all of the sudden, the company is nothing but 'trained monkeys". It's comments like that, that make me almost ashamed to be part of the RS community. If customer support is such an easy job, then go try it out and show me how to make 100% perfect judgement calls 24/7 If Jagex ever made a perfect update, there would be players complaining about nothing to complain about.[hide=My Stats][/hide]
TechHead7890
Yes, I read Linux is what Jagex's servers run on Linux, so technically that means that Jagex could be banning their servers.. :-$ (Don't scare anyone!) I know what Linux means, Old (sometimes sub) Teacher had some Pc's with Linux.
Raven6666
I also read that most of JAGeX runs on Linux. The reason they either banned you was: A: The person who was looking over the reports might'nt have known much. or B: Advertising. But now this topic is solved and does not need further discussion. mario_sunny
God, this is stupid. I don't even think Jagex even checks the reports anymore, they just have a trained monkey randomly hit the ban button... Siggied! By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( . Tim
from what i have heard. i belive that jagex banned you for such things as there has been talk of jagex using linux servers to power runscape. if this is true perhaps they thought of it as a risk, knowing most players would use XP and vista now and the remaining use Mac OS or whatever it is. i say sit tight, grab a bagel and wait Popoto.~<
Konachi
I bet Jagex will ban you for saying windows next
bored321
just proves jagex dont care, plus i would expect all of jagex world servers are run on linux/unix. so ild expect them to know what it is lol. PhaperPlane
How stupid can they get? Matok
Considering the amount of spam Jagex's customer support has to handle (just look at some of the crap at this thread) i'd say 12 hours is actually remarkable time for fixing an idiotic fault such as this... On the other hand its scary to think to people are getting auto-banned just for being reported, unless there was some1 there (probably some1 from Microsoft working undercover) who realy thought using Linux is illegal.... Severation
Thats ridiculous. It's obvious that they had no idea what Linux was, and so they just banned you.

Taco
I'm loving the fact that someone who works for a computer game programming company(Jagex) didn't know what Linux was... Lighs
Somebody at Jagex made a mistake and that mistake got fixed in a timely manner. This shows that Jagex is trying to do its best to stop unfair bannings, not the other way around.

I bet it was Luca :P nose just means nose here. its not slang for anything. on topic: couldnt the people who reported you get reported for misuse of the report system? Probably. From what I understand, the chat went something like this... Player1: Who uses Linux? Player2: Me Player1: Reported!11 Now it's hard to understand here because he managed to get someone to admit to using a "third party client" (note the quotations), and was therefore able to report them. That would be the same as if the person asked "Who uses SwiftSwitch?" don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat
