chris1216
Stop complaining. It is almost guaranteed that the ratio of complaints to CS personnel is MASSIVE. You whiners have no idea how many separate issues people have to deal with every day. They are human, they make mistakes, its not intentional, get over it. Barihawk
I have a question for the OT: Without posting the actual message, what exactly does it say you were banned for? Autoing or perhaps... ...Advertising? They don't allow for advertising of any kind, even if the product is free. All they had to go on was the snapshot provided by your reporters. Your reporters were either idiots, or people thinking you were some kind of spam bot. Heck, many of the new autoers even randomly spurt out an ad from time to time via autotyper. Just learn this lesson. When you are among friends, you may speak about windows, linux, etc. Don't say something like that around the random rabble, just stay quiet or talk about celebrities or news or something. For the record: "I am playing Runescape on Linux" could easily be misinterpreted as an ad for Linux. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Believe me, nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won. -Sir Arthur Wellesley
ultrablue
You cannot get banned on Runescape for using linux, because linux is allowed according to jagex. And btw... Just think if they banned all linux users... Even if there is 1% players on linux.. its still about at least 10k people? cmon.

Incidents such as these will happen, thankfully it was rectified in such a timely manner. i dont know where you go those #'s but not my point because, really who does it matter? it was unjust, infact this kid should have -1 black marks now. I got those numbers from the runescape site under the section "Full Jagex credits" I believe to be in the "Learn more about Jagex" section or what not. More to the point what the hell are you all crying about here? A mistake was made and quickly rectified yet, you all seem to continue to think that the customer support team should be absolutely flawless sifting through thousands of reports, appeals, and inquiries. Since when were humans regarded at being absolutely perfect in anything?! Am I to assume that most who have jumped on the "Customer support sucks!" bandwagon have never had a job before, or never made a mistake at one? If this is the case then I hope it happens to you one day and have a revelation towards your misguided views. My only explination of why you were banned in such a hasty manner is this... Once you said "who here uses Linux to play on Runescape" would be a clear indication to any non-computer savy player who would probably believe you meant a "3rd party client" or "macro program". Yes it may be an incredibly weak arguement and the fact that it was accepted by one of the snapshot reviewers is questionable, you can still see how it can happen. This of course is relying on your quote... not what was actually inside the snapshot sent to the reviewer. At any rate this matter should be seen as closed. People have vented their rage and mistakes were corrected. The self-proclaimed king of bronze.
meb
i'm guessing it's some kind of world hopper? maybe an autotyper cause you were reported for macroing... but how did they know about it if they didnt use it themselves?! no, It is a operating platform for computers. I do not see how you can get banned for that. That is like banning people for using macs. Reported. I can't beleive a Jagex employee doesn't know what Linux is. Why is it so hard to understand that a person working in their customer support area may not have extensive knowledge of computers. Go to a restaurant and ask your waiter or waitress something about how a particular item is cooked. Or a bank and ask a regular teller something about home loans. Sometimes you might get an answer without htem having to call or ask someone else. But most times, they won't know the specifics, because that's not a requirement for their position. Yes the person at Jagex jumped the gun without asking for an answer first. But IF linux had actually been an illegal program (ex. keylogger), then the time waiting to find out what they should do might have cost others their accounts. At which point, there would probably be rants about CS not responding fast enough and being "trained turtles" instead. If Jagex ever made a perfect update, there would be players complaining about nothing to complain about.[hide=My Stats][/hide]
Celt23
You can play runescape on Linux? I might be confusing myself with Lynx, the text based web browser. Seconded only by their "top notch" fan base for 1 person making a mistake (that was cleared up and corrected) and assuming it's company policy. ubahman
Why would they report you in the first place? People are too report-happy these days. They report before even finding out what they're reporting about. What's even worse is that jagex actually bans people like you who are just using a different operating system? Sad...
