February 6, 200719 yr Which is better? Here's some differences, I have to leave soon. CS 1.6: -More "realistic" spraying (holding trigger down, bullets fly out randomly, sometimes going WAY out of crosshair" -A stronger league, CAL, CPL, OGL. -Lighter system req's. CS:S: -BETTER GRAPHICS. -Noob-friendly, spraying is WAAAY more controlled. -More people playing (I think). -Easy to learn and get used to, while 1.6 needs a degree of skill, and not just randomly spraying. :P I play 1.6 myself, played for 3-4 months, and am in a CAL-O league (lowest, but I'm getting better! :) ) Discuss!
February 6, 200719 yr CSS ftw... Even if I wanted to, I don't think I could give a better statement than that long heart-felt setence.. - Only character in Runescape History maxed out in RSC and RS2
February 7, 200719 yr I play both...and, I have to say that Source, in my opinion, is better. But, you can't actually compare the two, because I think it really does depend on personal preference. Although, I do think that Surfing is better in 1.6, it just has a better feel to it, and also has better surf maps. Another thing that I think makes Source better are the renewed maps from 1.6; they look much better and allow for much better strategies. Also, as you say, Source is very noob friendly, but to make it big (as in CAL-M and I), it does require alot of skill. It does annoy me when people say that Source requires no skill, because it really does. "El que no arriesga no gana"
February 7, 200719 yr I prefer Condition Zero then both CS's. Why? Because for some reason I kick so much *** in CZ but then as soon as I bought CSS I was having my *** handed to me on a royal platter. #-o "A time comes when silence is betrayal" MLKJ Speak your mind, but be civil.Get mad, but do not rage.Do unto others as you would want done to yourself. February 9, 200719 yr I personally own CS 1.6 and you are right. It is way more realistic than most games out there. It actually takes skill to play this game! : Training my pure!
February 9, 200719 yr I like 1.6 more, but I don't like the fact that you can shoot through walls and such. Ever notice how easy it is in Source to score a kill? :?
February 9, 200719 yr i prefer source but the fact is my comp doeasn't handle it too well, i would be much better at it if it weren't for the lag i get i can still get kills even lagging lol, i still prfer CZ over 1.6 and source though, it got rid of the wall through shooting of 1.6 which annoyed me and yet has all the good things Sig by me....
February 10, 200719 yr 1.6 because it takes more skill i think (hitboxes are smaller, recoil is bigger, shotguns don't kill you in 1 hit from 200 feet) funner (you can shoot people through walls, you can bunny hop, without hacking ofcourse) vehicles (a lot of cs custom maps have them, but for some reason vehicles arn't in source bots: too many servers in css have bots, you just refresh the server list and like half the servers are bots and theres no filter (i think) now don't get me wrong, i play css too from when it even was in beta, i actually remember the beta/early version of css being funner than it is now, no idea why, probably because css just doesn't feel complete even today, theres a lot of missing content like animations for swimming, a VIP game type, falling sound, etc. another reason is the fun factor, for example while in a css knife fight, everything is so quiet, you can't even hear other people knifing eachother from 10 feet away, and when they updated the first terrorist skin (phoenix) they made it look worse i thought the physics and ragdoll would be more surprising, but they arn't because they are server side (if you are shooting at a dead guy, chances are everybody else will see you shooting the floor) some physics dissapoint me, theres those same kind of barrels in every single map, and other objects you can't even shoot or move, but i assume this is a balance gameplay issue i can list more, but overall 1.6 wins for me, they need to fix and update css more (maybe even add a map where you use nightvision) and i may change my mind, although the community has made some wicked cool looking maps for css :)
February 11, 200719 yr I like CSS more, because it uses the source engine, you can get stuff like Gmod. <-- AWESOME
February 11, 200719 yr A good game of CSS is great fun. As a total newbie I really got my rear-end kicked about but I'm getting better. We need Mitch to come back and finish off organising the tournament. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
February 13, 200719 yr i never play css but i saw some funny vids that FPS Doug made....man they were funny

March 1, 200719 yr I like CS:1.6 more, because it requires more skill than CS:S. But I like having CS:S because it means that I can get Source Mods, like Source Forts, and I can make my own maps. March 2, 200719 yr I play 1.6, its what all my friends and people from my school play. Tried source once a long ago, ubut I like 1.6 better. Better atmosphere I find. If you're a noob just starting out, you're more likely to go right to Source, so we fortunately dont get a whole lot of that on 1.6 ^.^ Combat FTL
March 5, 200719 yr I prefer 1.6 to source, for many of the reasons already posted. However, I must contradict a few points. Source has a few better surf maps, (surf_10x_final and surf_matrix_v8) to name a few, and the graphics are the main attraction of the game. But, as you can see in my sig, I prefer playing condition zero to both source and 1.6, because it combines the best of both worlds, without looking completely crappy, and without eliminating the great game play elements. I tell the truth even when I lie.
March 6, 200719 yr I've played cs on and off for nigh on 6 or 7 years now. Straight off preference goes to 1.6, purely because it requires more skill, at least according to my perception of what "skill" is in CS. In CS, what I think of as the epitome of skill is to be able to HS someone in the shortest amount of time possible upon seeing them. You're good if you can hs, you're truly one of the best if you can do it, and fast. Source removes this. The hit boxes for headshots are ridiculously big. When I played it, I just looked in the general direction of the person and aimed in the general direction of the head and got a headshot 9/10 times. I can assure you it's much more harder in 1.6, and thus, requires much more skill. .
March 6, 200719 yr While 1.6 requires skills - I don't consider being able to shoot through walls one of them (as most of my friends "exploit"). On the topic of knifing - it's meant to be quiet. If you knife someone; others aren't meant to hear it. I have never been a big fan of the CS series at all, really, but if it came down to it - CS:S has my vote. If I could get my CZ to work - it might change, but meh.
March 6, 200719 yr I'm a bit more partial to CS:S than 1.6 personaly. I enjoy the extra physics and it has more players playing / better mods.
March 9, 200719 yr CS:S... ...because of ZOMBIE MOD, so addicting. OMG TOTALLY!!! LOL.... Playing a zombie armageddon game in a 50 person server
March 22, 200719 yr Author I'm a bit more partial to CS:S than 1.6 personaly. I enjoy the extra physics and it has more players playing / better mods. I agree with the graphics, but the physics on the dead bodies usually end up being visible by you only. I'm pretty sure there's more players playing 1.6.

You sure more people play 1.6? http://www.xfire.com/ That could mean that theres less people that play longer on source than 1.6 but it's 7 times higher so there must be more people. I prefer source over 1.6 only because I have played it more than 1.6.
April 18, 200719 yr I was disappointed by CS:S and DoD:S. No real reason, they just didn't feel right to me.
